Love it! You obviously saw the trays, got an idea and executed it like a boss. Looks stock and completely clean. Nice job and thanks for posting this cool diy!
Thanks! I had the idea in my head, and went to Lowe's to try to find something made of plastic in the shape of a fin. Stumbled upon the paint trays and went with it.
I have another question, so i am parking my car for the winter and i was wondering if there is anyways to remove that black plastic from the rear bumper at the place of removing my whole bumper for the winter because i would not like the inside of my tarp getting dirty..v
Those fins are one of the most creative things ive seen! i thought you were going to use those trays to paint LMAO. Are you worried at all of the fins breaking or anything?
Haha Thanks! I do have a slight concern. But the epoxy and Bondo are very strong, so I know they are secure. Also, the plastic for the fin has some give to them, and the paint should help protect them too. I just need to be causious of backing into a spot with a high curb. That would definitely break them off.
I agree with Chris TheCreed that is definatly a very creative way to make your diffuser look alot more sporty! It's crazy to think how much that cost compared to buying a piece to attach to bottom of the diffuser for better look, or even the one with the 3 fins I think it is I bet it would probably be couple hundred bucks! I think I will do this next season since summer is almost over here in Ontario Canada, but thank you for the great video I love do it yourself mods they not only save you cash but it's unique something you actually created on your car!
May I ask if the paint lasted on the plastic or did it not really stick properly? Because I would like to paint both my back plastic and front but I am hesitating.
Yeah ok perfect thanks by the way you’re the man replying to comments 4 years after you posted the video i might be back in one of your comment sections i love what you keep that going my guy
Lmao bro that's amazing ! I didn't think you would be able to pull it off but it looks pretty damn good. just bought a genesis coupe myself couple months ago .

I had no issues with it and I had it like that for about 1.5 years before I sold the car.
Did you put on clear coat or just paint did the thing ?
I did like 5 coats of clear

What was your total cost for the refinish? Including the diffuser and what not.
$4 for the paint trays. $30 for paint. I had the epoxy and Bondo leftover from another project, but that would would cost around $12 for both.
pretty cool DIY. what grid did you use to sand the diffuser?
80 grit bit on my Dremil tool. 220 to smooth it nicely. Then 1000, then 1400 before paint.
you got 25+ hp with all those fins you put lol! good stuff man it totally changed the look of the car!! :D your a real enthusiast bro!!!
