    I agree with growing in crushed leaves, I grew sweet potato slips 2 a no d 3 years prior in leaves in brown paper bags and cardboard boxes with a basic fertilizer and I had a great yield .

    Gentlemen! Boy did you grab my attention talking about the corn and freezing the seeds and seed saving. I really think you should consider growing a three sisters garden OneMound style! I will have to do some research into the freezing seeds but, but may I suggest a video more focused on that point. I bet you will garner a lot of attention

      We have considered the three sisters method of growing but for our first year in raised beds we wanted to keep it simple. Perhaps next year we’ll purse it once the beds have been redesigned. The corn we planted was from seeds that were acquired 15-20 yrs ago and have been keeping in our freezer.

      Any idea about the germination rate?

    • @MelanchthonCreekFarm
      @MelanchthonCreekFarm  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@OneMound1 the corn germination rate was 100%. The rest of the garden was new recently purchased heirloom seeds, beans 95%, zucchini 100%, squash 95%, okra 100%, watermelon and cantaloupe 95%. I attribute those number to the black gold soil. @deepriverfarm3615

      I don’t know if I know what I’m talking about or not, but I have spent an awful lot of time, watching up and coming garden content producers to try to insert myself in a community of gardeners who might appreciate my project.
      I think your channel has the potential to be special. I hope you’ll keep at it.

      @@OneMound1yes he does a great job. I was glad to see him try the raised beds and use the black gold this year over his traditional garden. I believe he has been won over seeing how bountiful the harvest is in a small space.

    Save all your egg 🥚 shells and when you get a garbage bag full put them in a old blender or if you or your wife don't mind use your kitchen blender. Then chop & blend them into a powder then get you a quart canning glass jar and drill you a bunch of tiny holes in the lid to make you a big shaker 🧂. Then you'll have powder calcium to shake 🧂 out at the base of all plants that love calcium & water it into the soil Egg shell calcium is much better for garden plants than most calcium you buy. One of my Mom's old thumb tricks she used when I was growing up. She even had all the family saving their egg 🥚 shells for her until she got several quart mason jars of powder blended up. She kept a solid lid with no holes on them when not using them and only put the lid with holes in it on the jar when needing to dispense it on her plants. Know she had to save a lot of shells to make that & you will too but if you have others save theirs for ya it won't take so long to make up a batch of calcium powder. Just a little tid bit of information on making some of your plants healthy. She also kept all our yard tree leaves in a compost pile and made her own compost🍀🌿 in a fenced in area my dad built about 12'x12' and we turned those leaves with a pitch fork every so often as they broke down. About time to turn your garden over with tiller to plant spread those compost leaves over the whole garden surface and till them into the ground. Talking about producing some lush gardens, now that will definitely do it ! 😁👍🏼
