I just ordered myself a custom pair of Forefronts. Bison leather with the rough lower and smooth upper. Cant wait to get them and enjoy the luxury of 4mm thick bison leather boots! Thanks JK!
I find this strangely satisfying to watch. During a time where it seems to be more about how cheap you can make something, it's nice to see there's still craftsman out there making things like a great pair of boots. I've skimped on some things in my life but never what I put on my feet. I have a pair of L.L. Bean boots that I bought around 1989 and I still wear them today. LL Bean resoled them for me a couple times for free but I've heard they don't do that any longer. I'm guessing it's because they don't make them like they used to. Last year I bought a new pair of work boots and I went with Thorogood boots. I think they're great American Made boots but man this Bison Leather really looks great. I may have to have a pair of these in the near future.
I'm grateful for showing me how much work and workmanship takes time, dedication and skill. I think it's worth every dollar 💰 maybe hundreds, I'm just guessing.
I ordered a pair from Germany, waited for a week, and boy! they are awesome! light and very comfortable. I decided to call up this video to see how they are made..worth the price I paid for them! highly recommended!👌
What craftsmanship! Creating not only a sound functional boot, but a work of beauty. It will be an honor to wear such fine work. Many thanks to the hard working artist!
This is a very unique construction. Most boot makers (with the exception of Danner who uses a 360 degree stitch down method), use a combination of front stich down and heel nail down. With the use of the rear half mid-sole nailed down and a full mid-sole that is 360 degree stitched, JK finishes with a double 270 degree front stich down. The cut-a-way, or side view of the finished sole edge at the arch is cool looking. Impressive construction method.
Thanks for your explanation. Do you know why they don't stitch the top with the midsole before they glue and stitch finish sole? It looks like when you need to replace the finish sole (I'm sure it will happen) take it out the boot won't stay solid, especially in front part.
I have never visited a leather shoe factory, and I am impressed by the skill and technology that goes into creating these true pieces of art. Congratulations!! Greetings from Brazil!
Looks like a great boot . I always liked the soft rubber soles for working on roofs and carpenter work. The bison leather should hold up for many years.
I have only bought Red Wing boots heritage, but today I ordered my first pair of these JK, I’m excited to get them, I even paid for the 9 week built, can’t wait to have them!!!
I have the black forefronts and they are awesome. Just had them resoled after almost 2 years and they are ready to go another 2 years strong! The leather is thick and broken in so perfectly to my foot. Next time, I’ll probably have them rebuilt. Definitely best boots I ever had by far!
nowadays you truly get cheated on leather shoes, but these bros!!! they are dope!! I ordered them to Germany and I waited for a week and half but boy!!!
I really admire JK Boots, i think the craftsmanship is above and beyond. Haven't tried a pair yet but im excited to save up and order a pair of the 10" superduty bison. Keep up the good work!
Hello Tim, after several weeks staring at my new double steel shank bison boots I finally laced them up. They’re incredibly nice literally have molded to my foot in just a couple of hours. This is my second pair and will be ordering more in the future once again thank you and your team.
Это и на современном оборудовании и с современными материалами очень сложно. Даже с учётом отработанной технологии. Я не понимаю, как это могли сделать впервые, без этих средств?! Круто!
The attention and care that goes into making these boots is awesome. I really want a pair now. I've been wearing Thorogoods for a long time now and I love them but they don't look as good as these Forefronts do. I see myself buying some JK boots in the future. Nice craftsmanship.
This is fascinating. So many wonderful tools & gadgets for making a shoe. Watching them using the edge trimming knife is so satisfying. I'm also surprised at how long the nails holding the sole on are.
What beautiful craftsmanship!! I never get tired watching skilled hands make one of the most important articles of clothing.I will look into purchasing a pair now after seeing the quality and work put into these boots. Thanks
They look like nice boots, I've just never seen bare seams on the bottom of a hiking boot before. With every step you have to worry about them wearing down. That drove me crazy, I thought surely they are gonna cover that or thats not the bottom. But it was.
I've been on the fence about ordering a pair of these Bison Forefront boots for a while now. This video was hypnotizing to watch... love the craftsmanship. I guess now is the time to order me a pair so I can have them by the Summer/Fall.
received my Bison Forefronts last week. It's been too hot to really wear them around, but they look and smell fantastic! They appear that break-in will be a breeze and should be a comfy boot to wear. Time will tell... if they are all that, I'll be ordering another pair to keep in the rotation.
Just ordered a pair of the bison shadows in person!! What a beautiful boot. Can't wait to receive them! Good luck with the relocation. I'll have to make a visit to the new place when it's up and running, cheers!
These are absolutely beautiful. Someday I'll own a pair of boots in that bison leather. With the softness and rapid wear of the Christy soles, though, I'd rather see the uppers stitched to a full leather midsole and just have the Christy's glued on, for ease of replacement without having to constantly re-stitch them, which you can only do so many times before needing a full rebuild.
These workers building these boots are impressive. One slip of the knife or sander, or even the needle... And the boot could be done for. They're very skilled!
Quality through and through. The leather is super thick which would make the boots last longer and the Goodyear welt to resole. Are these made to order? Seems like it to me. I just can't see these being mass produced as they're made by hand. Good stuff. 👍
I am also a mature leather crafting not all i had basic tools i have but those skills with machines it took look easy but not? I'm right? That's why I wish I could also be a shoe maker ...
Im curious, when stitching the outsole to the stitchdown component of the uppers, why not create a channel for the stitching to sit inside? With them so exposed are the stitches not likely to wear out quicker?
Not sure how I got here but man, glad I did. Will be ordering for myself and my brother just based on the craftmanship. Do you have a suggestion on sizing? Likely wearing a heavier sock due to cold weather. thanks for the vid
Man, that pair of boots would outlive anybody.
Those boots look like they will last forever. Beautifully done.

Nothing beats hand crafted leatherwork
I absolutely love the look of the bison when it's stretched!
Yup, definitely looks tasty🤤
Brilliant. What an art of making a shoe.

wow. I love the look of that textured leather.
I really like the lower profile loop to prevent your pants from getting caught behind it when you stand up.

I'm drooling on the sheer amount of leather it has on it. On my bucket list...$$$$. Best of all, its also have my initials on it :)
