I'd like to see them go on a longer distance adventure together so we can see how they both fair putting down more miles over a longer time - should really highlight how an ebike can help mere mortals go further and longer with their fitter, younger brethren, and everyone has a good time.

Should Steve's ebike run out of power during the challenge, Steve would have to go analogue until the 62 mile mark. Then we could see whether Steve or Rich would have a shorter 62 mile time.

@@RedPanther2030Was just about to say exactly the same thing. So many people from 30+ seem to think it is mandatory to be fat & unhealthy. Wrong of course.

Very entertaining and informative video at the same time, absolute winner. I would appreciate showing a bit more info about both bikes and bikers as well.
Hired both a trail and lightweight ebike in Derby Tasmania a couple of weeks ago. All day epic rides, loved both bikes but will happily admit I loved the climbs more on the ebike. A few riders on non ebikes still got to the finish first. The high cost of ebikes and issues with flying with batteries because live in OZ have me still on the fence.
Entertaining video, for sure. Have to say though, on the subject of fitness, for the older, unfit riders out there, you’ll only get back what you put in. I’m 59, still riding a normal bike, a four year old Transition Patrol and can still climb pretty efficiently. My base fitness level is pretty good, but I’ve worked hard to get it there and to maintain it. Ebikes may help people to get back out on the trails, but you aren’t going to get the same level of work out, or require the same level of effort.
When I first started riding again a couple years ago to get into shape, a way older person overtook me on a climb, easily. I was just about to get off my bike and walk, and he just breezed by. I felt so so bad and only realized some time later that he must have been riding an ebike. I think the feeling of humiliation I felt before I knew this was and still is what's fueling my training to this day 😂
I'm really puzzled about Rich's power. I've yet to find a climb that I can't ride, but an ebike could. Traction always goes away before torque-power. Not bashing on ebikes - just wondering if Rich faltered for plot reasons.
that's whats puzzled me as well. unless there is some kind of Schlupfregelung ;) traction control system , I can't see more power help with steep technical terrain...
Nice, interesting challenge👍I ride both eMTB and MTB, although I like my eMTB very much, I do not like to ride it on very technical terrain, simply because it is way too heavy, which makes it hard to control. But no matter what bike, cycling is just a great sport.
I've been on XC Races that had multiple categories and boy I've seen expert racer passing e bike racers E bike can be faster if you are really good on it and doesn't make mistakes coming in hot in corners causing you to brake a lot
