Please note that this run was filmed in February 2020 (before the pandemic). I thought I had lost the footage for this run but I managed to dig it up! Edit: Thank you so much for 50 subscribers! :)
Been on this run many times and it seems to go on forever. Used to ski runs like these just as you do. Took one steep and deep lesson at Jackson Hole and since that time I have enjoyed them much more. I'll be there in about seven weeks for some spring corn.
This is a great run, my favorite bump run at Breck! I also took a Steeps lesson at Kirkwood and have found my mogul technique to have improved substantially since! I'm at Breck right now so hopefully I can get around to skiing this one! :)
Hard packed moguls are the toughest so I generally wait for the afternoon Sun to soften them just a bit before skiing the black runs. If you try them first thing in the morning or late in the evening, especially late in the evening, it’s tough, and painful if you happen to fall.🙂
Thanks for watching! Do you remember some of the black diamonds you did at North Lake Tahoe. Those mountains are my home mountains so I can try to give you an idea of how Devil's Crotch compares to the ones you did if you'd like! :)
@@arjunski Boreal. I used to ski Southern California in the 90’s. Then stopped for 25 years. While staying at Squaw (Now called Palisades), I got the bug to ski again. Boreal just seemed like a reasonable option. Convinced the wife, to let me ski again. She said not without lessons. My instructor was skeptical also, but convinced them both. Had a blast after such a long time… started a at Klondike.
I've not skied Boreal but I drive past it everytime I go up to Tahoe. I'll say that Devil's Crotch is significantly harder than any run there (but still manageable for an advanced skier who's willing to take their time). Devil's Crotch is a bit more comparable to some of the more challenging bump runs at Palisades/Squaw. A good comparison would be a slightly less steep Chute 75 or a slightly narrower West Face!
@@arjunski just finished our week in Breck. The altitude was the biggest hurdle at this very enjoyable skiing resort. My Epic app says I skid 41 miles total. Peak 9, 8, 7, & 6. Greens, Blues, Blacks - No bowls or moguls. I am after all in my 50’s and still need my day job. You are right. American was a fun ride, so was Lincoln Meadows. Only thing I didn’t like about Breck was the weekend traffic and wait to the chairlifts. Thanks for the videos.
That sounds awesome! I remember that American was one of my favorite groomers at the resort when I last visited. 41 miles is a hell of a lot of skiing so kuddos on that! Honestly, if you're able to do American good next steps would be the groomed single blacks on the main face of Peak 10 (Centennial, Cimarron, Crystal, etc...) and Pika off the T-Bar (granted riding a T-Bar isn't a new experience for you!)
Nice job. Try to keep your body square with the fall line. When you are back-seated like that and turning you body a lot you can get an injury on a terrain like that.
Thank you and really appreciate the advice! That's something I've been trying to get better at throughout the years but it's hard to mentally commit. I'll keep practicing it and get comfortable on easier slopes until I'm able to replicate it on runs like this!
To anyone out there that’s watching this video and has not skied Colorado that needs to be the first thing on your bucket list but don’t wait until you’re old do it now ski or board Colorado while you can
Oh shoot man, that really sucks! Hope you're having a good recovery! That's so weird though, when I went in mid-February last year although I didn't film it, I thought this run had pretty solid coverage!
I do runs like this on the like the first day of my trips when im fresh. Can only summon the technical ability required for steep firm moguls with fresh strong legs lol. After that i tend to look for tree lines so i can use the naturally softer snow in there. Lol. Ive got a couple of breck videos on my page if you want to check em. Also in February, but 2018. I have a lot more footage really need to upload some more. From vail, beaver creek etc. On some really nice powder days with friends
That's 100% valid. Steep mogul chutes like this are super demanding on your legs and knees. I checked your Breck videos, they're super sick man! I'm hoping to one day catch the resort in the conditions you had in your Beyond Bowl video!
Devil's Crotch gets overhyped as a really insane run that's one of the toughest at Breck. I strongly disagree with this, however it's probably not the easiest or the toughest on E-Chair. It might not be as steep as some others but it's one of the more narrow chutes there. I'd say Mineshaft and Inferno are slightly easier since they're wider but the rest of the runs (Tom's Baby, Tom's Mom, etc...) are slightly harder!

Cameras don’t give this run the justice it deserves. Great run
100% agreed, this is one hell of a mogul run!
Yes! That was my first double black Diamond!!
Wow, that's awesome man. This is a pretty challenging first double black!

@@arjunski Hope you have a great time.
The next run over (to skiers right) is mine shaft and the trees between the two is unofficially known as Devils Shaft. lol
Yup, I know about both of those. Devil's Shaft / Minecrotch would be really cool on a pow day! :)
You are crazy good at skiing!!!
Oh thank you! I know I still have a long way to go, but I really appreciate comments like yours! 😁
Great video! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! Appreciate it! :)
The hardest skiing on any mountain are steep, crunchy moguls - good job
Thank you! I definitely agree with that, the most physically demanding skiing's gotta be hard-packed moguls!

That's smart! Especially bump runs that face South are really nice in the early afternoon since they soften up a good bit!
Thanks for the video. Coming up from Houston. Last year was doing Black diamonds at north Tahoe. First time at Beck. Hope to do this run…

Good old brek days
Last skied in 1996

100% agree with this comment! It really doesn't matter the mountain. The vibes, views, snow quality, and good times are really special! :)
Wow.. Great Snow.. Especially for February..
Right!? Normally this run always has horrible coverage but the two times I've gone to Breckenridge, the snowpack's been solid!
@@arjunski Last year I broke my arm on 3.14.2022 and all those runs on Peak 9 were in rough shape up until that point.

@@arjunski Thank you.. I thought there were lots of bare spots..
February is the best time to ski in Colorado I've found. Base has settled and it's still cold enough to keep the snow dry.

Don't let the timid nature of your style take over too much. Let them skis run a bit.
I've been trying to get better of that, it's a big mental block for me but I'm working on that!
When my dad was a kid he slipped while going down this and rode all the way down on his face
Yikes! That must have been pretty horrifying!
I think this is the easiest e chair run
