    I love your “dog-side manner.” You are calm , you talk to the dog, you praise her but without a lot of baby talk. Even though you haven’t groomed her before, your calm tone and reassuring praise had her taking her cue from you. When those people in the background sounded like they were arguing the Giant looked over her shoulder a couple of times, looked at you and must have decided she was safe.
    Now, if I could get a groomer to just watch your technic with her beard and eyebrows! Does anyone else’s Giant come home with eyebrows 2 1/2 inches long and straight across their forehead?

    I never understand why the ears get chopped off in America. My Giant Schnauzer's ears are beautiful.

      Because American judges will not look at a natural ear in the show ring. And there are idiots who think they look meaner with the ears. AND not for nothing they actually do stay cleaner cropped. Working dogs don't need the distraction of someone grabbing their floppy soft ear. Ears and tails are not breed to be strong in America. If you don't crop here they look like crap. And who wants an ugly dog? LOL just kidding.

    • @chris45rpm
      @chris45rpm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@beachbaby3203 I understand the judges spec over there and people think they look meaner, but cropping them makes them more prone to infection, not the other way around. And as for not being bred to be strong? The tails and ears are as they are, not how they're bred. For working breeds (who actually are working) I accept the tail removal, but ears no. What it comes down to is subjective preference, but many vets in the US are now refuse to crop the ears cosmetic reasons because it is unnecessary and the complications it causes.

      @Ben Tackett GS were originally bred as herd dogs, then guard and used in police and military work. Cropping dogs ears for 'work' purposes is very rarely, if at all, needed. For me it all comes down to subjective opinion of what owners want their dog to look like to the, ie more 'aggressive'.

    How can I find the exact brushes rakes and thinning shears you use on your giant schnauzer

    Lots of non-groomers here. First, they know it all. Second, they're not used to wiggly uncooperative dogs. Third, they don't know a proper giant cut. Great experienced groomers are fast and precise with their scissors. 40/30/15/10 straights/chunkers/rake

      then you should get a good groomer and possibly should have researched your breed better.

      @@beachbaby3203 I just inherited one due to owners death. A groom is $150/mo, a basic vet visit no labs $250 in my area of WA state. Not easy for some to absorb so self care is needed. I side with OP as this groomer is a pro using tools most folks don't have or can't afford.

    • @Anon_E_Muss

      @@LadyAdakStillStands I would go to a groomer and have the groomer shave your dog with a 7 and leave a short beard and eyebrows. That way you can get less frequent grooms if you don't know how to do it yourself.
      If you are still interested in grooming your own giant, look up schnauzer mom on you tube. She goes over what you need and does very nice home grooms for her dogs. Her videos are very helpful.

    • @spaceseed83
      @spaceseed83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The long eyebrow is a big thing for show giant schnauzers. It's a thing for the breed standard. It originates from guard dogs looking intimidating

      Probably not. Remember the camera is being held by another person. So the groomer has a very different view of where the shears are and where the dog's eyes are.

    OMG was anybody else watching this in sheer terror!? Lol get it SHEER terror! Lmao, all joking aside tho not to discredit Miss Moore or be disrespectul or anything but I almost lost it at 4:00 when she had the shears pointed towards his eyeball and the dog sneezed! And then when she started trimming around his ears the way she was that was it for me I had to write a comment and it's very rare that I comment on anything. And I'm not a professional dog groomer by any means but I know unsafe practices when I see them and that was clearly unsafe. Jus sayin.
