There are many US pronunciations of words that have now become commonplace in the UK even on the BBC. HarASSment for instance instead of HARassment. Why did we change that?

I'm not saying Americans are (uneducated), but it's not how we pronounce this word in the UK. And yes, it does matter because we are slowly eroding British English with American English. And this is not advisable.
Another word that makes me bristle is 'hack', as in '10 hacks for doing.....'. The word in the UK is 'tips'. '10 tips for doing......'. 'Hacks' started to creep into British English a few years ago, and it's a horrible word. Reeks of Americanisation.

I think the Queen could see the end coming, the writing on the wall, the collapse of everything she had built up and put in place and lost hope at the end so quickly. The monarchy provided us with stability over the centuries, but was never really able to adapt fast enough to a changing world through self-imposed rituals and procedures (Prince Philip tried to hold the waters back from a while), but the seeds of their destruction were planted many tens of years ago. The monarchy is so out of touch now they've become museum pieces with no relevance and applicablity to the challenges the country and world now faces. As the Commonwealth begins to collapse and go their separate ways, we will see a slow and painful death of the monarchy, attempts to be normal are being seen as a kick in the teeth for people trying to feed themselves, pay the bills and avoid getting kicked out of their homes. They never really adapated like other Royal Families across the world, and suffer the fate of birds in a golden cage. It is really all over, the film/play/firm is over, there is nothing more to see (except visits to go shopping) now the curtain is coming down. There are significant challenges ahead that need our focus, and the monarchy has become a circus distraction with their self-imposed turmoil, family battles, wayward princes and become irrelevant.

For me it died its last death with the godawful, overblown spectacle of the Coronation. All expectations that KC3 would usher in a new royal epoch of modesty and proportion blew up in that 100 million pound cringefest with its hectares of velvet, gilt and sable. Dissenters were arrested and an oozing media turned it back on the real resentment of those who resented it.
That was the moment my mood changed from thinking the royal institution was a thing that I could live with - but with no love or admiration - to one that I now loathe and am convinced has to be thrown to the scrap-heap.

The Monarchy's natural purpose died long ago and exists basically for media fodder which feeds the sentimental feeble minded. It does provide continuity, but many successful countries survive without it, and it is really terrible for the members of the RF who are forced to be public figures which in this day and age, is especially cruel. So sure, have monarchy without a royal family but how does that work?

I have an expectation of time up for the “Royal Family” and after Charles goes, the “Throne” will be empty of a successor as an unwilling heir will abdicate their position towards a more “Normal” family life… and the House of Lords will go before that, hopefully!
The Monarchy is sadly past it's best before date, and needs to be shelved. Ours isn't the only one facing this problem, its a "Global Issue" and it's a timing issue and the biggest question is the Monarchy relevant in the 21 St Century. Or are they out of touch, and detached from reality?
