Yeah, they sound quite similar, don’t they? Try and listen for the schwa at the beginning, and the ‘nt’ at the end. She pronounces the T quite strongly here.

Hi, I am a new learner of Aussie accent. I master US accent and wanted to try Aussie accent.
And my question is, do Australian pronounce "er" as "a" for ex. 'better' pronounce as 'betta'
In the recording, I was curious what cava letta mean, and I found out it is "cover letter" 😂
    Is that correct mam?

    • @MomentswithKT

Yes! 😅 This happens a lot with the R sound at the end of words. I have made a few videos about this, actually. Here is the first one, if you're intrested: th-cam.com/video/rVDCYqsYCkk/w-d-xo.html.

    • @MomentswithKT

The Australian accent can be quite difficult to understand if you don’t hear it often. It just takes time and practice, you’ll understand it more easily over time 💪

They don’t actually tell us what Twin Cities is in this conversation, so it could be the name of a city or the name of the project that she’s working on or maybe the company that she works for. We’re not actually told 🤷‍♀️

I notice that words like meeting in american accent is clearly pronounced like long e sound, british accent is the same, only using T sound at the end while american english D sound at the end. Australian accent in words like meeting sounds weird. Meeting sounds mating like words such as taking. Karen, I hear meeting clearly in your pronunciation but i wanted to deep into more information about this, indeed australian accent is strange. Other examples in words like say or pathways Australians use 'a' while American English is different pronunciation. Great word Australian pronunciation isn’t the same British or American accent.
