I'm convinced that Rita Connolly is an angel who was sent down here to console us in our earthly troubles with her heavenly pitch perfect voice. Amusingly there's an older bucko in the male choir who basically is getting all the notes and timing right but the overall effect is somewhat quaint in tone and effect and deflects some attention from our Angelic Rita. (Good on him anyway for giving it a go!)

From here in Cambodia today, after a few years already, listening to this beautiful voice and anthem of global solidarity, welcome and friendship ... I remember it vividly still, that night of the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony .. this music is etched on my soul forever ... and speaks to me wherever I am in the world. A true gift. I don't know about this song as a new National Anthem for Ireland, but I agree with the rest of your post.
I remember being highly impressed with the Special Olympics in Ireland. The organisation, the inclusiveness, the hosting and general behaviour by Irish people were wonderful.
Just don't try telling that to Justin Barrett and his small-souled ilk....

Rita has a fine voice. But I have to say that Shaun Davey is the composer of this so wonderfull music. And the other musicians and choir and of course everybody will bring it all to a higher level. And in my opinion it is great gift from the musicians to the Irish people and to the rest of the world who loves the Irish sound. As they bring in all their music.
Everytime i listen to the music and the voice it will give me a good feeling. And than I think I have to go to Ireland once again. With their special culture and history. And i feel how deep de music is in .the hearts of the irish people. And while i listen to the music i feel the pain, the sorrow, but als the joy.
