Fantastic collection Jimmy the Big Sleeve editions are nice never collected those but awesome art cards 😀 👌. That Zavvi tin edition is really cool as well and will never get rid of those original cuts of the first 3 films as doubt they will ever get a physical release again, great vlog as always 👍 👌
Cheers Matt 👌 I really like the big sleeve they are good prices at the moment . The time was was nice but they didn’t do the others always gets me that does. 🤯. Yeah the original cuts are worth holding on to . Can’t believe I got rid of them before but now are cheap as people only really want blu rays or 4k. Thanks Matt for checking this out 👏👏
That's a great collection Jimmy, I daren't think about how many copies of Star Wars I've bought over the years, from multiple different VHS editions to DVD and Blu-ray. We've all helped Lucasfilm stay in profit I bet.
Thanks John 👌👌 I know what you mean I always say that’s it no more editions of this movie but I always give in 🤣🤣🤣 for sure Lucas films love a updated release😉😉
Great video. Still have those DVDs myself. Kept hold of them solely for the original cuts. Saying that I still have my original Trilogy laserdiscs in a box somewhere 😂👍
I wish I kept the vhs ones I had 🤯 the laserdiscs 👌👌👌 i never got in to buying them and I don’t know why 🥺. The dvds are nice and it was good to see the new footage added ..Cheers AJ
That certainly is dedication to a particular franchise. Very much at odds with my own collecting habits. I have around 4000 disks, but no duplicates - I look out for the best box set to represent the franchise (be it Star Wars, Star Trek, Rocky, Dirty Harry, James Bond etc) and am satisfied with that. It's good that we can build collections for ourselves, that make us happy.👍🇬🇧
Thanks Daz appreciate that. How you collect is a great way to do it. You have so many more movies doing it that way 👏👏👏 I’m Getting better at not doubling and trebling down 😂
@@jimmyboysmovies1972 I had to make a choice a while back - whether to keep DVD copies, after upgrading to Blu-ray. Practicality won out and the DVD's get ditched. One area where I make the odd exception is music - some older CDs are retained for the band photos, song lyrics, bonus tracks etc. Compromises must be made, but we can allow ourselves the occasional indulgence.
What a lovely treat on a miserable day! Thanks J for showing these! One of my major regrets is that I have never collected Star Wars steels so it's really nice to see such a great collection. With you on Rogue One, it gets better and better with every watch! I have managed to keep my Complete Saga edition in good condition. I do spend whole weekends watching just the bonus features! They are exhausting! Don't mention THX to me! I paid 2 grand for a THX certified amplifier back in the day and as amazing as it was, it didn't hold it's price for very long at all. I would only have had to wait a few months and it would have been less than half price 😣 Those Force Awakens and Rogue One art cards from the Big Sleeve editions would look beautiful framed. Very nice collection as always squire! You stay safe too chap! 🤘
I went out 1st thing today and it was damp and grey so I thought do a vlog in Star Wars. Yeah Rogue one is just stunning 👌👌 such a very dark story really with the ending . I know what you mean back in the day paid silly money for Amps only for prices to drop like a brick as the tech kept changing so fast 🤯🤯🤯. The complete saga is a beast for the features . Thanks J appreciate it. I think I will put on rouge one later 👌👌👌.
@@jimmyboysmovies1972 Good man, you know how to treat your fans! Heck yes, just the way we like it! Even in the Star Wars universe it fits. Yep! My first flatscreen CRT was a Panasonic and I'm sure I paid a ton for a 32" then Phillips came out with the same one for quarter of the price! Mad times. It really is! That and the Alien Quadrilogy set can keep us going forever! No way, I was thinking the same! But I'm in the middle of a Lethal Weapon binge so Thursday will be my Rogue One day! Always here amigo! Sorry to tell you Jimmy but the way the 2006 limited edition DVDs were presented is actually false, the only theatrical release of a Star Wars movie that was ever released was Phantom Menace on VHS and laserdisc (The latter was a Japanese exclusive as Japan got an extra year of laser disc support and was released seven months before its DVD release. What the 2006 DVDs actually are on the 95 THX releases that we got on VHS based off of the 1993 definitive Collection that was released on laserdisc. This is specifically apparent on a new hope where George got a decent 38 mm print of the opening crawl and removed the original 95 version, in addition the missing 3PO dialogue that was lost when transferring between mono and stereo was artificially put back in. People don’t realise/forget that George was tinkering with these movies specifically in terms of pictures/sound quality from 1981-1995. I mean when a new hope was released in 1981 back into cinemas a year after empires theatrical release it was the first time we saw the episode number and title for Star Wars a.k.a. a new hope. Let’s just digest the fact that you couldn’t get a full original trilogy until 1986 (Ironically the year I was born) if you were in Japan you could watch the original trilogy in widescreen on laser disk. If you were in the UK however you’d have to wait between 1990/91 before we get our first lot of widescreen releases. Other reasons I don’t like the 2006 version is because it doesn’t have anamorphic widescreen so unless your TV/projector has a zoom option you’re fine, if not your kind of f’ed. Overall a good collection though, don’t mind me being anal retentive, I’m a big huge Star Wars home video collector. I’ve had carers coming to my home and say you a Star Wars fan to which my response is no course not 😜😂😜 Those 2015 steelbooks you have, I paid £180 on eBay to get them sealed, mainly because I like collecting sealed steelbooks if they’re out of print or otherwise, if you come and collector items as I still buy the standard releases. I do have all the 4K steelbook versions also, I would say from an artwork standpoint they are vastly superior to the 2015 versions with the exception of Empire because I would’ve really wanted the gone with the wind style theatrical poster artwork over the Darth Vader teaser poster artwork. For me Rogue one is probably my third favourite Star Wars movie at this point, I don’t like the sequel trilogy at all but as a collector I have them. Did you know that the force awakens did come in an amaray case version in the end like subsequent 3D releases. In case you were wondering my favourite Star Wars movie is Empire followed by Sith.
This is by far the longest reply Iv had 👏👏. It’s reminds me of the openings In the movies thanks for the info Eva there are so many editions I get confused by em. I’m still on the hunt for some laserdiscs . I appreciate all the info you have put down it will be a great help to others and me. All the best for 2022 👏👏
@@jimmyboysmovies1972 also worth mentioning is that if you wanna talk special editions for the original trilogy, that’s from 1997-2019. So you have the original 1997-2000 VHS releases changes from the original home video release but the ones from 2000 they just changed the packaging contents remain the same. That said you get a behind-the-scenes look at episode two but it isn’t really, it’s a mini welcome back to the Homestead and Tunisia. The DVD releases from 2004 which includes more changes including Sebastian Shaw being removed at the end of Jedi and replaced with Hayden Christiansen, not to mention that Naboo gets added to the final sequence also. Then you have the 2011 Blu-ray cuts with even more changes (this would get a Blu-ray re-release and get a DVD release in 2013). Then you have the 2019 cuts which were released on Disney+ before getting its physical release in 2020, coincidentally these were the basis for the original 3D project that George started before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Speaking of which we know that the prequel trilogy at the very least is done in 3D as Phantom was released in cinemas 10 years ago at this point, in 2013 attack of the clones got shown at Star Wars celebration in Germany and revenge of the Sith got shown in Anaheim California the following year. As you can probably tell I have a passion for this kind of thing, I’ve been home video collecting since 2017 and the person I always enjoy watching on TH-cam is somebody called Nathan P Butler, he has a book out called a saga run home video guide to Star Wars home video releases in the US, just before Christmas he released his second edition which is in three separate volumes. CBS Fox/20th Century Fox era (Volume one) Disney era (volume two) TV shows and everything else (volume three) Overall I’m glad you found my previous comment insightful even though it’s probably (as you stated) the longest comment you’ve ever read. I guess I should also mention that the only thing never to get re-released from home video and you can get this on VHS only in the UK but there is a laser disc version if you can find it from Japan and that’s from Star Wars to Jedi the making of a saga, this to me is probably my favourite documentary next to Empire of dreams. Now Empire of dreams was featured in the silver 2004 DVD box set with the bonus disc but if you really wanna check it out it’s on Disney+. People typically on eBay sell the disc separately with the case but this wasn’t how it was originally sold it was sold with the original trilogy intact. I think I’m done at this point unless there’s anything you want to know personally 😜
