Yes, she’s 10 years old here. Her mother objected to the lyrics, so she changed them on the way to the recording session. There is a video of her in the recording booth listening to the playback. Afterwards she was asked how she liked it. She said, “Yuck!” So they did it again. Don’t know if this was the first or second take, but it sounds perfect to me! I love the way she was able at 10 years old to change a very dark song Back to Black to an uplifting one Back in Love. The use of this orchestra, KORK, was given to her by the Prime Minister (I think that was his title) of Norway to use for her performances. You will see them often in her videos. When AJ was small the family took extended visits to dad. one of them was Iran, where AJ met the famous "shoeless girl", When you have the IQ of a 40 year old university professor, and be an empath, you will witness much more than the adults. She is not a reincarnation. Reincarnation is not possible if you believe in God. But lets not get on religion. I just wanted to make sure you don't think reincarnation is possible unless you don't believe in God. She is an empath, an empath is an individual who feels more empathy than an average human. Empaths are exceptionally sensitive to the emotions and frame of mind of nearby individuals. Empathy is a natural state that enables a person to build an emotional connection through cognition with other individuals. Not in a spiritual way but rather she feels it. Like when she listens to Amy sing this song she can feel her hurt and is able to sing with the same hurt and emotion. And that talent alone can make you mature faster. I have been listening to Angelina for just over 7 years. I think that what has held my attention for so long, other than just her unique and powerful voice, is that she does everything simple. No flashy lights, no jumping around on stage, no blaring music that covers her voice, or any of the other things that a lot of artist feel the need to incorporate into their videos, and yet through everything, she is STILL so humble. I get what you are trying to say, I think. We who are Nightwish fans are used to describing Floor as an empath, or, a sensitive. She feels the emotions of the individual behind the music. Well . . . when Angelina was 12 and newly arrived in LA, basically starting over, she did a series of sessions with Ivan Mendez on guitar. One of these was "Happier" by Marshmello. Here's the link, as a fan you would get more out of it than someone who doesn't know Marshmello. These songs were knocked out in a couple of hours, Angelina would get home from school and arrange the song, then when Ivan came over after work they would quickly go over it and then record it. She actually played more songs from Amy Winehouse than from any other artist in her live concerts, total of 5 different titles (and for a 6th there is a rehearsal clip with a band), and often she played two different Amy songs at any concert with a longer setlist. Unfortunately some of her older fans are unhappy when Amy is mentioned, and try to deny or belittle similarities and influences with/from Amy, causing controversies for nothing good. They focus on the differences, while others focus on the similarities. These are simply two different approaches. True! What I say about that is, that she has a similar voice tone to Amy. It's something she was born with which is why she loves to cover her songs. What really gets me is when a 'reactor' pauses every 15 seconds or so and talks for two minutes at a time. I now avoid those and only listen to a select few. I realize they need to pause for copyright purposes, but some of them take it to extreme. There was one that was reacting to "Suspicious Minds" and I commented that I didn't care for all the pauses. He said he had to, so I posted a link to a playlist on my TH-cam page of 37 reactions to Suspicious Minds that didn't pause once. His only response was "Then don't watch". That's when I started staying away from those. I posted a comment elsewhere on this reaction and said I have been listening to Angelina for just over 7 years. This was an Amy Winehouse song. If you listen to her version or look at her lyrics you will see why Angelina was told by her mother that she could not do this song unless she rewrote the lyrics. So Angelina had just a couple of hours and did just that. It's worth looking at the original and then at her brilliantly changed lyrics

AJ has been blessed with a great support system. Her mother is her protector, her grandma is her inspiration and uncle is her manager. Yes, she’s 10 years old here. Her mother objected to the lyrics, so she changed them on the way to the recording session. There is a video of her in the recording booth listening to the playback. Afterwards she was asked how she liked it. She said, “Yuck!” So they did it again. Don’t know if this was the first or second take, but it sounds perfect to me! I love the way she was able at 10 years old to change a very dark song Back to Black to an uplifting one Back in Love. The use of this orchestra, KORK, was given to her by the Prime Minister (I think that was his title) of Norway to use for her performances. You will see them often in her videos. I love your enthusiasm for our Barefoot Princess. Don’t worry about the lack of words-it happens to everyone!

I think Angelina is a reincarnation of a great singer from before. She sings as if she has lived and understands the feeling of what she sings about. She is not a reincarnation. Reincarnation is not possible if you believe in God. But lets not get on religion. I just wanted to make sure you don't think reincarnation is possible unless you don't believe in God. She is an empath, an empath is an individual who feels more empathy than an average human. Empaths are exceptionally sensitive to the emotions and frame of mind of nearby individuals.
Empathy is a natural state that enables a person to build an emotional connection through cognition with other individuals. Not in a spiritual way but rather she feels it. Like when she listens to Amy sing this song she can feel her hurt and is able to sing with the same hurt and emotion. And that talent alone can make you mature faster. Which is why from a very young age she wanted to help the poor and now she's trying hard to change the world. Like if I see someone cry, for me it's just a person crying and I would have to speak to the person and ask why he/she is crying. When Angelina sees someone cry she could tell why without asking the person. Because she can distinguish between different emotions and why they are different. It's like when you can tell if a person is lying or not when you watch him/her speak.

I have been listening to Angelina for just over 7 years. I think that what has held my attention for so long, other than just her unique and powerful voice, is that she does everything simple. No flashy lights, no jumping around on stage, no blaring music that covers her voice, or any of the other things that a lot of artist feel the need to incorporate into their videos, and yet through everything, she is STILL so humble. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, had anyone told me years ago, that at 69 years old my favorite singer would be a 17 year old girl, I would have laughed, but here we are, and she is.

She expresses regret, angst, sadness at who she becomes AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE'S ABOUT TO CRY. She's reading the lyrics and adding the required emotions for them AT THE SAME TIME... And when she's about to end the song, I find myself shedding tears .... What does she do? Ends the song and then Waves, and with the voice of a chirpy little bird she gives a huge smile and says "Bye" with a little giggle... Are you kidding me.. Angelina tells us in the description on her original video, she had just 24 hours to write new lyrics. I thank those who have suggested the new lyrics are Angelina's feelings about Amy Winehouse. I believe you are correct. The lyrics are so sad, which makes sense, given Amy's tragic life. BUT as always Angelina provides hope in the lyrics.
You don’t have to feel bad. Her voice, her talent and her ability to make you feel a song as well as hear it leaves many people speechless. I like to think of her as a musical empath! And yes you are correct, she almost always emotes lyrics better than the original artist!
You are just now experiencing what many of us have been doing for years, struggling to explain what we are seeing here. Angelina is able to channel music with all the emotion and meaning intact, and refine it. Most of her covers are better than the original. She mastered vocal techniques at a young age that most singers never master.

After the first take, Angelina discovered in the engineering booth (there is a video) that SHE had erred with some lyrics. Angelina is, by all rights, very proud to be a one-take-girl/woman. And now THIS. They had to do it again. As Angelina is VERY well mannered, she did not throw a tantrum, but her body language showed, that she was angry with herself.

I get what you are trying to say, I think. We who are Nightwish fans are used to describing Floor as an empath, or, a sensitive. She feels the emotions of the individual behind the music. I am not very experienced in the Angelina catalog but, from what I have seen, I think she may be the same way. Even at her young age, she can feel the emotions behind the song. Angelina is amazing at this age, and she has only grown and matured in her emotional capability as the years have gone by.

Anyone who says that this isn't a good cover needs to realize that she was 10 years old, was told by her mother she could not do the song if she didn't redo the lyrics to make them more appropriate for someone her age, and still maintain the musical arrangement. Well . . . when Angelina was 12 and newly arrived in LA, basically starting over, she did a series of sessions with Ivan Mendez on guitar. One of these was "Happier" by Marshmello. Here's the link, as a fan you would get more out of it than someone who doesn't know Marshmello. These songs were knocked out in a couple of hours, Angelina would get home from school and arrange the song, then when Ivan came over after work they would quickly go over it and then record it. Angelina Jordan is a Rabbit hole artist who gets better and better the older she gets. Just watched "Valentine" and "Billy Jean" and she OWNED both of them. Check out Gigi de Lana and the Gigi Vibes as well as they are another rabbit hole. Probaly start with "Fly me to the Moon" or "Better Days", but any the live studio recordings are great. You will fall down the Rabbit Hole - I did.

She actually played more songs from Amy Winehouse than from any other artist in her live concerts, total of 5 different titles (and for a 6th there is a rehearsal clip with a band), and often she played two different Amy songs at any concert with a longer setlist.
Unfortunately some of her older fans are unhappy when Amy is mentioned, and try to deny or belittle similarities and influences with/from Amy, causing controversies for nothing good. They focus on the differences, while others focus on the similarities. These are simply two different approaches.

True! What I say about that is, that she has a similar voice tone to Amy. It's something she was born with which is why she loves to cover her songs. Well 😅 apart from that she has 1000 voices, she literally can sing any artist. @@TroyArchAngel, I REALLY enjoy listening to her, and for over 7 years I've listened to here several times a day, EVERY day. What really gets me is when a 'reactor' pauses every 15 seconds or so and talks for two minutes at a time. I now avoid those and only listen to a select few. I realize they need to pause for copyright purposes, but some of them take it to extreme. There was one that was reacting to "Suspicious Minds" and I commented that I didn't care for all the pauses. He said he had to, so I posted a link to a playlist on my TH-cam page of 37 reactions to Suspicious Minds that didn't pause once. His only response was "Then don't watch". That's when I started staying away from those.
I posted a comment elsewhere on this reaction and said I have been listening to Angelina for just over 7 years. I think that what has held my attention for so long, other than just her amazingly unique and powerful voice, is that she does everything simple. No flashy lights, no jumping around on stage, no blaring music that covers her voice, or any of the other things that a lot of artist feel the need to incorporate into their videos or performances, and yet through everything, she is STILL so humble. I just admire that. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, had anyone told me years ago, that at 69 years old my favorite singer would be a 17 year old girl, I would have laughed, but here we are, and she is.

Great reaction! We all have trouble at times trying to put our finger on what it is that makes Angelina Jordan the remarkable storyteller that she is. There is no doubt she is a great singer, but her ability to convey the essence of a song and what the song writer is trying to convey is nothing short of remarkable.
