I noticed her duck under the gun barrel and place her hat and fan. I actually had to blink, surprised neither burst into flames. Given how hot those barrels have got to be.
That and how her little FT exploded through a hedge too.
On that note, I don't think that's an actual FT (also known as FT-17). The French did modernize quite a number of them over the years. While outwardly looking like a First-Generation Renault FT, they had improvements in other areas. Minor, given the design, though some received much more radical work, including a number redesigned as Bridgers in the Inter-War Period.
Overall, I wouldn't write home about the changes. Since the Tanks were obsolete by 1936. But there were just so many of them. The French had planned a Tank Destroyer version of the vehicle. Removing the Turret for a 47mm Anti-Tank Gun, much like what the Germans did later to other vehicles they captured or rebuilt.
I love how in this friendly game of tank battles, they just casually poke their heads out of their tanks while high-velocity ordnance is flying around.

In a manga they explain that tank commanders who command outside the turret can actually deflect incoming shells. Similar to how the body builds up a resistance to pain, the commanders can build up an ability to deflect incoming fire. Miho can deflect from what I can remember is up to 75mm, her sister better, than her mom was at like 120mm.

No one mentions how Marie is literally like an inch from a fatal impact with that barrel, or if either tank was slow to react and crashed into her little tank she is totally unprotected. Just another day in this teenage meat grinder with "Practice" rounds that tear armor right off the hull, and girls up out of the tank just waiting for an unlucky shot to take their heads off.
None of it makes sense, but that's what makes it so fun!

Chunchun Maru dont know how many tanks you have been in but can confirm this is untrue of the M3 Bradleys and the M1A2. I don’t know about the SEP variants though. Closest thing to a cushion in those is the drivers seats. Probably among the comfiest seats in the Army. Other than that, thin mat on metal backing. If the mat is still there.

Fun fact: actually Marie isn't the gunner of the tank. Even though the Renault FT is a 2-men crew tank she just sits out of the tank and gives orders, usually sitting somewhere safe eating cake with the driver and the gunner while the others fight

The commander of Tank #2 at 0:26 is extremely lucky. The shell from the B1 bouned off of the cupola (notice, cupola moves to the right after being hit). If she popped her head out of the hatch, she'd be a goner.
This show runs on anime logic where no one gets "seriously" injured (I can think of quite a few times these girls would either be in a hospital or straight up dead). Plus, if the commander was looking outside the hatch, I'm sure the girls firing the tank would have shot elsewhere on it, or the 3rd tank.

When her team fights against Kuromorimine in Tankathlon match, she burn the grasses. making the audience running from the fire and almost get run over by Erika's tank. Erika cannot abandon them, so she let them hitchhike her tank. This is causing her loosing her chance.
When her team fights against Ooarai for the first time in Seshado match, she is putting herself on purpose in front of Panzer IV's gun muzzle. Hana will not shoot her (while her other team, is defeating Porche Tiger. Since this tank is the most dangerous tank for Centipede team)

But I also like the dichotomy of this obvious French team. This has got to be a reference to Vichy France, the Nazi imposed puppet govt after taking Paris in 1939, and the French Resistance and its lack of unity throughout the war, with individual cells fighting for communism, democracy, or even a return to a monarchal form of govt when the end of the war finally came around.

I've stumbled across this anime in so many places and never even considered watching. Now thanks to this small clip on TH-cam it's on my watch list and I know I'll get to it before the years up.
I watched the first two episodes a number of years ago but didn't like it, never finished it. I thought it was too ridiculous. Then about a year ago they put it on Netflix so I figured it was only 12 episodes and a movie that I had nothing to lose. I don't like anime, and that's probably what stopped me from liking the show initially but I ended up really appreciating it. The plot is pretty run of the mill but the amount of effort they put into the tanks, the history, the stereotyping, the dialogue and the characters was very admirable and in good taste.

For those that haven't seen the movie and are wondering how come those two are arguing. The reason that whole thing started is because the group leader of the Heavy tank thought that the Medium tank group pull a double cross on them. The whole thing happened because the battle field is full of tall hedges so the body of the medium tanks are hidden and only the turret is showing. The MC team happen to have a French heavy tank that shared a turret design similar to the team that these two girls are on so they came up with the plan of having the team infight which lead to this clip.
We sure caused BC Freedom a headache with our Char B1 Bis.

The gun on the ARL-44 would rip through the front of the S35 and out the back... Like 3 times over
tbh theres a good chance that 47mm on the S35 can penetrate the ARL at such close range though...

And the 47 mm gun won't even scratch the arl 44 the maximum penetrating capacity is about 56 mm while the arl 44 had about 80mm protection.
I guess the point is that every tank is fitted with enough composit interior lining to withstand the german 128mm but then the already enlarged interiors would be comically cramped to make no room for fighting. Maybe they have future tank armor who knows.
we will ignore the karl gerät because 1. it threw 30 ton panthers around like stuffed toys and 2. this show actually HAS precedent for armor ripping up, the churchill in the first st gloriana match yanked the IVs front right turret corner clean open like a tin of tuna, a direct hit is going to kill people no questions asked and it was probably allowed with the condition that the rounds are guided to miss.

Should have seen this coming though, but it was my fault not exceptioning the battle of Waterloo. Even during the battle of Waterloo , the English army is nearly beaten by the Napoleon when the Blucher's army arrived. They already spend all of their reserves, their infantry of the line had been battered, and the only thing that keep them not routing is the Prussian support coming for them.
Napoleon did beat the English indirectly in Napoleonic wars which English funding most of the coalition they have, well until the 2nd and the last one although this is likely my excuse in this matter.

@@clothar23 was probably also referring to the Bourbon restauration btw, the French King when he was put back on the throne post Napoleon, has been put back by foreign forces and was essentially considered their puppet by the french at that point while Napoleon was a partisan of resisting until the end with the french people that still followed him.
Puppet defeatist works since he is the one encouraging for peace while Napoleon in exchange of Paris suffering (oh no the tragedy, couldnt care less personnaly wouldve only humbled them and they really need it nowadays) couldve pushed the coalition back due to high attrition.

due to friction between two factions in bc freedom they are having some cooperation troubles
one of arl44s caught a shot from mallard (b1 bis), and former assumed that their teammates betrayed them (somua and b1 bis have nearly identical top, bottom is covered by plants), then they started fighting each other (arl44 vs somua)
conflict escalated as they took 2 of each faction's tanks, 4 overall, and the current scene started
at the end of the video, one of tanks took a shot and they soon realized that they are getting tricked by mallard team
