M2 are perfectionists, but I don't know if they have a dedicated translation team handy to help us out with Snatcher and Valkyrie. It would be really amazing if they went above and beyond like they try to and help us non-native Japanese speakers out :(
EDIT: I mean technically the Sega CD version of snatcher is already translated (if censored), and Valkyrie has en English version on Namco Museum. It would be cool if they pulled from those.
I was seconds away from pre-ordering, then I realized Snatcher seems to be the original non-translated. What is even the point? I mean, it's one of the biggest cult classics of all time, and it's not even going to be playable. Really strange. I'd play $100 to play the OG version translated. And, I understand the game was released on Sega CD.
Man, thank you so much putting this footage together and for taking time time to translate it for us! It's clear that Konami has put a lot of love into this project and made something that us Turbo/PCE fans will be proud of!
Regarding the UI, I think it's absolutely gorgeous and you know what? Maybe they did emulate Nintendo's design, but I ain't even mad! Why reinvent the wheel? It's perfect, it's gorgeous, so let's not fix something that isn't broken! The Hu Card animations are a wonderful touch, so they definitely put their own spin on it.

You can play “Genji and the Heiki Clans” and “The Legend of Valkyrie” in English on Namco Museum 4 and 5 for PS1.
Well due to them stating the PCE games will be in Japaneses hopefully the system can be hacked were the Snatcher ROM can be patched with the Sega CD's Audio & text translation. I knowing the translation community there will be some group to take that challenge. As for me I would replace the TG16 with the PCE version of Slpatterhouse.
Man I just want to play snatcher in English. Great video, was street fighter 2 not included. That’s a weird omission.
Street Fighter II was awesome on the PC Engine, I own a copy... but without the 6 button controller I cannot play it. I havent seen any 6 buttons announced for this, so that could be why? The game plays great with the Avenue Pad 6... I specifically bought 2 of them to play the game on my Core Grafx.

Well, given the MegaDrive Mini has SCE on it, it wouldn't seem to make sense. Yes, I know SF2 Turbo is on the SNES Classic.

Great video bros. Lol it reminded me how ugly many/most of the north american cover arts were, when compared to the japanese ones, especially in the 80s and 90s. Luckily things are better today.
Namco Museum Volume 5 has Legend of Valkyrie in English, but buy it on PSN on the PS3.
Arcade Dragon Spirit has an extra, underwater stage on the Namco Museum Vol 1 for PS1/PS3 digital. The TG16 version lacks this stage.
@The Last Old School Retro Gaming TH-camr - Not missing the level, just the effect. Only 1 less stage; 8 on TG16, 9 on arcade.
I've preordered because I just love this mini. To be honest I'm more interested in these mini retro classics than this gen and next gen. Long live retro gaming and thanks for showing.
They already translated Snatcher...its on Sega Sega CD in America...hopefully they use it for the Turbo mini

@@FCEngine Right on. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE wants the Sega CD version on here. If they announce, and im praying they will, a translated version I'll pre-order in a heartbeat. Otherwise, no freaking way.
I really appreciate this deep dive into this tg16 product. I've been on the fence since I have so many of these games on my snes mini, but having an actual tg16 controller and this interface (along with the involvement of M2) really makes me want one. Thanks for putting in the work to help me with this decision.

I hope they translate snatcher and the other Japanese rpg's.🙏😑 There is a fan made Dracula X rondo english patch. Maybe they can collaborate with the author of that patch and bring it to the U.S. Turbografx mini for that game.

If they translated Snatcher to English , I would highly consider picking it up ! I'm not sure if there's a Rom translation patch out there, For once it gets hacked. I really wish Sega , would jump into the game of making a Saturn or Dreamcast mini.

Actually, The Legend of Valkyrie is playable in English, but it is in one of the Namco Museum games for PS1. (I think it is Volume 4 or 5, but they are on the pricey side.)
There is a patch for English for the PC Engine version too,
Alex The Adventurer - I was watching GAME SACK the other day and they were going over popular compilations and that was the first time I saw or heard about a NAMCO Vol. 1-5 PLAYSTATION ONE compilation release.
Was that one complete set or were they released separately and at separate times?

Respect to M2, they are the Kings and Queens of emulation.
If you wanna play Legend of Valkyrie in English, grab Namco Museum Vol.5 on PS1. It's the only English version of the game ever released. Thankfully they put it on PSN for the PSP, Vita, and PS3.
This is going to be a great purchase for me. I loved the Turbografx system and had trouble finding one in stock back then. This Mini version if you look at what games are being emulated, plays everything PC engine. When it gets hacked this is all that you will you need. Supergrafx, Super CD, T16, PC engine, Arcade Card games. This is a dream come true!

As far as Legend of Valkyrie goes, Ron, get Namco Museum Vol. 5 from the PS1 Classics on PS3/Vita. It has a full English version of the arcade game. Same for Genpei Touma Den (Samurai Ghost on the TG16 in the US and Canada), on NM Vol. 4, the arcade game is brought over under the title "The Genji and Heike Clans".
Y's lV Dawn Of Y's would have been a dream come true. Still thankfull for Dracula x though.
Jeez man, if only they'd just translate Snatcher for us filthy english only players. I seriously couldn't think of anything that would make me happier in the gaming universe.
Gems like that and Far East of Eden are just lost to us because of it (I know Sega CD in Snatcher's case, but its like half a mill and ur first born for the damn thing), this was Konami's chance to really bridge that gap and really show what magic they hold the rights too :/.
Legit, if they came out stating translations for all these games, I'd buy two of them JUST to show my gratitude.
I know this much...I am really looking forward to March. This looks amazing and as someone who can't afford to collect for this system...(or really most others right now) this is the answer for me to be able to finally play these games in a legal way. I'm happy with what they are doing. I would rather them take inspiration from Nintendo and the way they handled their classic systems, than Sony and how bad they botched their version. Nintendo did it right, so if Konami and the others behind this are doing it the right way, this is a good thing and will make for a great little system to have. I am curious though if Sega has put out anything new on the Genesis/MD classic system yet? I know it's supposed to be out soon as well...but we haven't seen the interface or design yet. I know they both will get hacked in major ways. I just hope the process to do it is easy the way it is for the NES/SNES classics where the software can look up the games/artwork online and add it in. I love that process, it's easier for me than having to do the USB stuff with the PS Classic. (Once I finally get a PS Classic, I will have to have someone else do the process for me...I just am not good with that stuff).
Thank you, great video! Still wondering why the release date of this mini console is still more than half a year away, and now all seems to be already told about this device. I mean, we know the full games lineup, we know who does the emulation work and also how the Interface will look like. Moreover, according to the video, this project seems to be already in a quite advanced state, so why does Konami give us all the information that early? They are not dumb to pull out all these infos and then keep complete silence until release. I am pretty sure we will see more before release, maybe some surprise games? And/Or even a translation (megaton)? I am confident that Konami will keep this fire burning until release.
Man the TurboGrafx 16 was so cool brings back so many memories the sega genesis super nindendo and TurboGrafx 16 were the best years for gaming in my opinion.
This looks almost exactly like Nintendo's efforts. To the point where I'm wondering now if Nintendo is involved, they do have a strong PC Engine emulator from the virtual console days
Oh man didn't Harrison Hacks or someone do a PC Engine style mini interface u can dl for on Hackchi? Pretty sure I saw one. I actually thought u where showing that off till u said its the actual official one. Dang it looks almost identical to a Nintendo mini. I suppose there's only a few ways u can do it but thats a gd thing if anything. Very nice. Cool there showing that off early.
I liked your video and the content too. I had a Turbo Grafix 16 back in the day, and it would be nice to play some of these games again. I'm pre-ordering one today.
M2 is such an important company in respect to game preservation and more obviously emulation in general. On the US so digital eclipse is another important company. Not as good as M2, but they have put out good quality collections in the past
It really makes you wonder why they are waiting until March to release this. Surely, they could get some out sooner, create some buzz and then fulfill the demand in 2020.
Take out Power Golf, Victory Run and you only need 1 Bomber Man game Konami get it together get the missing classics on there fans have been waiting
Gotta say it's a very nice and clean interface. HuCard insert is a good touch. I hope it does well. But if it doesn't I hope it fails hard like the ps1 so I can buy it for free. Ha

on Japanese version, does it still contain all the ones on the usa version? I will be picking one up eventually, and if Japanese has all ones us does plus more, seems like that would be one I would jump on.
If it is almost done already maybe the rest of the time will be them translating it.

I think I’m sold even though I have 75% of these games on my turbo grafx! It will be nice to preserve the original hardware for this plus have a few games that I wasn’t able to snag over the years.
Why is the turbo grafx mini so much larger than the other 2 regions? It's a mini system. Kind of bums me out

Yep, there is a setting to change the wallpaper for games. I got that confirmed, just havent seen what the options are yet.

I am guessing the 6 month wait is (hopefully) a translation of Snatcher in English, because surely Konami are not stupid enough to release that game to the West untranslated.
If M2 can use the Legend of Valkyrie English Translation from the PS1 compilation that would be really good.
The only negative I am going to give Konami (and M2), is that they are not copying SEGA's model of the ROM swap that their Mini is going to include (you can use the English ROM if you change the language to English on the Japanese Models if it had an English release). It's a missed opportunity despite this Mini looking super promising.
@@andreg3912 Yeah, they announced it on SEGA Japan's Channel awhile ago! I think some forums confirmed it too! The US Mini for example, will change to Puyo Puyo from Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine if you set it to Japanese. Even the Boxart changes!
10:57 Did any one noticed the Splash screen of the games have been altered?... In Dragon Spirit, it supposed to say NEC middle bottom, and NAMCO at the botom right corner. Now, it says NAMCOT in red center; with NAMCO at bottom, and no mention of NEC anywhere, I hope we don't have some other changes for the sake of some censorship. They don't seem the same ROMs
the mini has the japanese version of dragon spirit and not the american one. and yes, there will be changes made to games - the version of snatcher in the mini will have nec and ascii swapped to hec and oscii for copyright reasons. only the japanese mini has been rated (cero d/17+), with the other minis probably having similar ratings (pegi 18 and esrb m/m17+).
if i can run all games on it via Hack, i´ll buy it.

other than snatcher, super momotaro dentetsu 2, jaseiken necromancer and appare! gateball, besides the two japanese exclusives on the japanese mini (tokimeki memorial and tengai makyou 2 manji maru), all games are perfectly playable for non-japanese speakers.

I suppose if bezels cant be changed one could always set the system to 16:9 and then set your TV to 4:3 instead. Also, there is an english patch for legend of valkyrie. Play it using your everdrive :)
Great video man thanks for sharing. As you indicated I'd really like to know if they will have wallpaper options to fill out the screen on the US release of the TurboGrafx16 Mini. I know the SegaGenesis Mini has these options on it & M2 worked with Sega on their system as well so hopefully we'll see those available on this too.
I got confirmation there is several wallpaper options to display behind games including black... But just havent seen the options yet.

The bottom line for me is that they're including snatcher, being the first time it's been released since the piss poor PS1/Saturn versions in 1996 and...ITS EXCLUSIVE TO THIS THING!?
Don't get me wrong, this device is really cool and all but to release a game as sought after as Snatcher only on this device is a massive cocktease. As is the fact it's probably going to be untranslated!
Please, Konami, just release snatcher on switch, PS4 and Xbox one ASAP! It doesn't even have to be a spruced up hd enabled thing, just stick the Sega CD version up for all and have it done with. Literally zero effort, which lately is konamis forte.
