- In this video we completely remodel this backyard as we take out all of the grass, concrete, and extra dirt. Then we established elevations, set our plumbing and drainage system, graded, compacted, tied rebar, and finish setting up this backyard. In the next episode we will be pouring out this entire backyard with concrete wall to wall, then putting a beautiful diamond saw cut pattern on it. The third and final episode will be doing the side yards of this home from start to finish. Enjoy and don't forget to LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! Thank you all for your support!

These videos are great to watch
The methodical approach and attention to detail on everything is so compelling
Great content
Looking forward to the rest of the series
Much appreciated, glad you enjoyed!
Can't wait for the 2nd part, these videos are always therapeutic
Thanks! Stay tuned
Yeah put uo the next one😬
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I'll keep watching
Put that little kid to work, start 'em young. My grandpa put my dad to work at his machine shop when he was 6 years old, had him running a lathe! He was driving my grandpa and himself around town by the age of 12 and could machine anything the adult journeymen could do and to blueprint specs! 🤣 I guess lying about his age, joining the navy after just turning 16 and serving on a couple of US destroyers during WWII made my grandfather put his kids to work early. Dad sold the machine shop my grandpa started and retired after 60 years as a machinist (and a few years in the US Navy during Vietnam.) It's good to see you passing on the trade, knowledge and experience to your family and the rest of the world via the videos. Thank you.
I hear you
Thanks
nice job there, it will look really good for sure as all other projects dave and co have done, thanks for the videos and keep the nice work going on!
TY
Just wanted to add - you putting PT #1, PT #2, so and and so forth is such a small detail, but it makes a HUGE difference on viewership. Thank you for the content!!
Wow this is going to be amazing!!
I hope so
TY
Watching this makes me feel like I am one of those kids hiding behind that door.
It's a strange kind of exciting to watch somebody build something...
Hahah awesome glad you enjoyed it as much as they did.
I agree, I have an entire channel devoted to people building things 👍🏻 These guys do good work, it's a pleasure to watch them.
Killer work you guys do.. Enjoy watching your video's. Learned a fair bit to boot..
TY
I watch your videos due to some feeling of nostalgia from my days of concrete masonry, and the pleasure I feel when I see the job done properly. I would recommend your company to anyone.
Thank you Tom, much appreciated
Beautiful job every time. Even demo! 👍👍👍

That was crazy
What an excellent job 👍🏼✅👍🏼✅👍🏼✅

Thanks for the upload! A swimming pool would be nice, too! Kinda small for a tennis court. Good job as always. Can't wait for Part 2.
Above ground.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Sounds great! Would you built it for them, if they requested one?
Well done .

Replace sliding with French doors and stucco or stacked stone overlay over the block wall.
sounds good
Lovely work.

Yes we are
Nice one
Thanks for watching
Ohhh, BB court, that would be cool.
Yup he bought a nice court for it.
Love your channel

must be amazing to have a parking lot in your backyard !!
It really is!
Dude, this looks exactly like a new construction house I did in Laguna Niguel. The same distance between the house and the wall. Drains from the back on both sides out to the street. I did pavers instead of concrete -- 1400 sq. ft. pavers. I did cinder block planters on the back wall -- stucco with bull nose bricks with Queen palms. I did a fountain in the center on the wall facing the sliding glass. I looked on Zillow when the house sold and it look great after 10 years.
Nice work
Getting it on

Sweet 👍
Thanks 👍
Looking good David, it seemed to be a very dusty job, trust you are all keeping safe and well? Best regards from Australia.
Don’t know about BB court, but outdoor kitchen/living area, water feature would be great..Great work as usual!
Sounds good

have any videos on how you slope to those drains, im assuming slope the usual 1/8 to the drains from the wall and also the weep screed as well as how you work in those high points?
You need a “4 in 1 “ bucket for the Vermeer. Will completely change the whole machine for you doing these jobs
Good idea
These days I watched tons of episodes from your channel, thanks, fascinatingly interesting!
For now, I can swear, I will never forget about 50% nylon and 50% of horse hair!
Glad you like them!
And the Horse hair
I'm jealous, I really wish I had a full concrete backyard
Me too
I love watching your videos. I need to do my drive way. What do I need to know and look for when trying to hire a company
Licensed Contractors
The time lapse makes it look like a pice of cake but that’s hard work right there. For real men only
Thankfully there was no rebar, trying to pull up pieces, one guy having to use the wire cutter every couple of feet.
@@nmatthew7469 we put rebar in this job
I enjoy your videos very much .what kind of concrete sealer do you recommend for a patio slab ?
Depends on a sheen or natural look
Oh to have a flat yard and a tall concrete wall! Heck I'd love to have front and back concrete, along with some AstroTurf. People think I am nuts. But some pampas grass in (ballistic) planters would make it ideal. JMO. The less maintenance the better! Sadly, to redo the yard the way I envision would cost more than the house is cost.
Easy maintenance is great
Looks awesome! The prep work is always so dialed in, keeping us calm and confident as always! I'm wondering is this about a 12 yard pour of concrete just for the backyard, excluding the sides of the house? Thanks in advance!
Believe we called in 15 yards for just the backyard.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Wow! Thanks!
This first pour is 17 yds.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Wow! 17yds! Awesome! Thank you so much!

Let me get a shirt lol
Bingo
I may get a shirt too. Great company and look at all the free knowledge Mr OD gives us.

Be sure to wrap that pipe tight with pipe tape. Or buy the pvc drain pipe and glue it. Roots will grow into the pipes if any trees around. I have torn out many
Probably palms
Inspiring as usual. I am curious, what text books do you have on your shelf? I mean, do you have any reference books that you go to often?
No, I don't have any books.
Jeff from @home renovision diy sent me!
Awesome
👍😎
David, do you have any videos where you do two different types of concrete finishes side by side? Say a colored stamped patio, bordered by a different color sandwash border? Just curious which you'd do first and how careful you need to be when protecting the finish you did first. Thanks for sharing!
Yes I do have some of those on videos.
I cover with plastic.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Thanks! I will try and dig those up on your channel.
@Odell concrete is like watching Yoda teach concrete. You are not ready for the funny trowel young Jedi. 😂😂😂
Hahah i like the comparison
No expansion foam against the block walls? And why just the house then?
Great vids by the way!!
One side is enough.
TY
How did you get the machine back there? Didn’t look like it fit on either side of the house . Lol
The machine is 3' wide the side yard is 5'
How much was the final quote for this job?
When will part 2 come out?
in a few days
The neighbors will love the new basketball court - especially at night.
Hahahha probably.
We had one in our backyard growing up, it was awesome.
Seeing a machine just esaly dig is so amasing than just making a whole basketball court with just a shovel
Yes machines help
Tell that to ancient people

How do you decide between 'wall to wall concrete with foam sheet' and 'dowel bars' ?🤔
I use dowels to adjoin slabs at the same level, so it never can become a trip hazard
Dave is this the biggest back yard you've done ?.
No
0:46 the standing water is it because they didn’t angle or tilt the concrete away from the house?
No slope from backyard to front yard
Great job 👌 how much did this cost?
A lot
@@OdellCompleteConcrete20k? 50k? 100k? Trying to do research to not get scammed for a job like this
Yikes, all concrete back yard, no landscaping no more patio trellis. Not very appealing, definitely not something I would do to my back yard. Great work though setting it all up, look forward to part 2
TY
Also interesting to see how many people complain about a lack of "drainage" in their gardens when they have no healthy plants or soil that the water can drain into. We see it all the time; people replace their grass and flower beds with pavement. I personally think it's a real shame how people don't want to invest time any more in keeping up with their gardens and decide to go the easy route by just paving everything. We've had several jobs the past few months, one of included paving about 120m² (1300 sq ft) of a client's garden...
Another thing that people don't think about is that gardens and especially trees will provide you with natural shadow which is always way cooler than any pavement/concrete...
shirt would be pretty cool
You know it
How much does it cost to do this back yard , is your company in Orlando, fl ?
I wish
How much something like this cost start to finish I have something similar.
8500
I have a yard that’s nothing but dirt and gravel. Would love to replace the dirt with something better as we have a baby who will be crawling soon. I’m wondering what it would cost to replace the dirt with a combination of stone and astroturf?
10 per sq.ft
In which country ? You doing your work.!
United States :D

Thanks for your reply..
Do you have to destroy the existing concrete?

Not sure
How much would something like this cost? In California?
10500
I think it’s crazy you have to pay money to dump concrete. Here in Iowa we don’t have to pay money, you’re basically giving them free money when they turn it into crushed concrete or fines and sell it for 12-13 bucks a ton
I concur
Can I ask what the estimate cost of the project would be?
10000

No 3-4 inch base before the concrete? I guess that would be over spec’ed.

Not on this one!
10 minutes is the secret to maximizing view earnings....
why is that?
I was hoping he'd show a little more of the draining system. And see where the water is going to actually go through and come out of.... maybe that's a second video
Yes it is
@@OdellCompleteConcrete yes it is what. I have the same issue I would have liked to seen what are the inlet and Outlet of the drainage system that's what I meant thanks
Why get rid of the concrete that was already there? I mean it looked fine no cracks and you said it was pretty thick, its just more money to redo it. So confused.
It was above the weep screed and didn't drain anywhere
Just dirt for the substructure? I thought you would of laid down a layer of crushed rock
No need in this area
Thanks for the reply. I’m from Australia. We always have to over dig the dirt an lay down at lest 50 mms of crushed rock. Ps wish I could come work for you 👍

@@OdellCompleteConcrete Cool! 😎
Looks like they left too much dirt in that backyard when they built that house. Or when they built that existing patio just spread the dirt in the yard than haul it away.
The more I watch this video, I think whoever did that job did the work at my home before I bought it. Created more problems and work to correct it than make a nice yard.
Built a parking lot in their backyard. Ugly.
