Thanks! I've got a W202 that I think someone yanked on the handle too hard. I've been pulling the end of the cable with my fingers. The part looks the same, so the procedure must be similar on my car.
Yes I do! Go to my channel.I got 2 different videos demonstrating what hood parts that will need to be changed! The title for both videos..1 Replacing hood catches and 2 how to get the hood unstuck on W211👍🏾
Great video - thank you. If you release the cable under the hood it makes it actually possible to connect the cable to the new latch. There is a square box in the front right of the engine box (mine was right next to the windshield washer fill of a 2009) that has one cable in and 2 out. If you open the cover to this, you will see where the cable is connected. If you release it, you will get all the slack you need to fish the wire into the new lever. I couldn’t do it otherwise. What a pain to work under the dash though.
Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it! Thanks for the tip as well 👍🏾 Yep it would of made the job A hole lot easier if I would of thought 💭🤷🏽♂️ of that first 😂
I just did this on a 209 and was struggling to just flip the cable into the lead as shown in this video. Thanks to your comment I looked for that box (its a small 2x10x3 cm black box) and found it next to the washer fill as in the 211. It was hidden under a metal bar just above the right front light in the motor bay as you said it would be. Unhooked the cable inside that box, hooked it up inside the dash and hooked it back in. Before reading this comment i spent about 2h trying to figure it out. Thanks for making me solve my issue in the end!
you think i can do this ? my hood release came off cus i guess i pulled it hard down so now it’s just hanging , i bought a new one just incase but i feel like i don’t know what im doing and feel like it’s not gon open the hood

I do everything right but the end of the wire (that metal ''ball'' thingy) keeps falling off the latch even though I push it in to the end. what could be the problem?
It take patients and time! Watch the video more closely and do exactly what I did and using both hands..One hand on the metal ball and the other hand on the flat head screwdriver pressing the flat head against the metal wire close to the metal ball not on the ball but flat head pressure on the wire..Press toward the metal ball but a lil up ↖️ position until it snap in place!
