    Good looking saw. You did a really good review too. I'm in total agreement with the plastic chain guard. I bought a new Stihl MS 261. Its a nice saw and I've used very little and already the the plastic guard is distorting. Not enough that its affecting the the chain tightening screw but I'm sure in time it will. I'm kinda committed to the stihl brand but I'm not saying their the best, but I've owned several in the last 40 years and they've served me well. Looks like this model Neo Tech would be a perfect size farm tool.

      @CornucopiaFarmstead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Dean! I'm sure through your experience you have found, one tool just doesn't fit every job like duct tape does. Having said that if you are cutting variety of "wood" products, a variety is what you need. I think options like these need some consideration. Saws generally aren't cheap especially when you consider the high end name brands for sure. This saw took some tuning to get it dialed in, but once there I believe it will be a good running saw for a good price. It is a price point saw which has some cost savings built in, like the clutch cover, does come with a full stainless steel bar though. But overall it does function well and has great ergonomics. It is very easy to handle. Is it an every day saw? Most likely not, but, for someone who needs a low cost alternative, I believe it is a great option. We will continue to develop the saw and will work with Neo-tec to help develop this saw and the others along with some other pieces of equipment that are coming to market also. Testing the NS 872 was really cool also. It is comparable to the g388 and the ms380/38/038. Running the 872 we are very impressed with how well it is built along with the power. Very nice saw for sure. These saws came straight from Amazon US and are in much better condition than other units we have received from overseas. I'm not complaining, but, we have received many from boat delivery and they aren't in as great of condition. Thanks for watching and commenting friend, we appreciate it!

    Whenever I adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw I always turned my idle screw down before messing with the low jet. But everyone does it a bit different. If you turn the idle down first you can hear when you get to that point with the low jet how the RPMs will drop or raise

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip! This saw was almost all the way out when we got it. I think 2 turns on the low and 1.75 on the high. Right now it is at 1 on the H and 1.25 on the L. Idle is just back of creep on the chain. I'm leaving it here until I switch to 40:1. Thanks for the tip, I'll start there next time!

    ya looks exactly like the basic chinese saws which is a bit dissapointing because the more expensive neotecs are basically stihl/husqy clones (much nicer)
    In these the tension design seems to be prone to failure and they always leak bar oil
    I need a new limbing saw so might have to buy an echo

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir, it is a basic entry level saw definitely. It is lite and built so too. Controls are similar. This segment is full of many options also. We will use this primarily as a ground saw on limbing along with pruning jobs or quick snips during cleanup. We have 5 other sub 50cc saws of varying age to which this saw will be the youngest. It had to be tuned a couple times but once tuned runs well. When it has a couple more tanks ran through it the fuel will go to 50:1 on this particular saw.
      On the larger Neo-tec saws we do have an NS872, they vid is actually loading now. It is a much different saw which can be seen very easily. But again, it is a different level for sure!
      With so many options these days a person can easily find a saw to fit the job and budget they desire. Thanks for commenting/subscribing! Happy cycling also!

    I bought the same model chainsaw for $100.00 on ebay. Downside I found is theres no Carburetor adjustment. Air filter does not do a good job. Good cheap saw though.

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have noticed most(not all)saws have difficulty in filtration. Out of habit I generally put a line of grease around the filter mating surfaces to prevent fine dust from entering the carb. I pretty much do that on everything actually. For the carb on the 841 we have the card can be adjusted. It has the typical Low and High speed jet adjustments. The carb is capable to be tuned but does take some patience. I think in 3 sessions the carb was in a good state of tune. If I can make time we will make a vid on tuning this particular saw.
      We are very please with the saw and Melissa doesn't have a problem using this saw around the property. Very pleased and hope to continue with good use of the saw!

    Either you do not know how to adjust the carburetor, or this saw has a technical problem. Correct adjustment must be done using a tachometer. For this saw, the optimal settings be: Idle 2800, Max 12500 rpm.
    Btw, this saw is copy of the Japanese Zenoah G3800.

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments! I have adjusted carbs on many machines for more than 3 decades past my teen years, many without a tach and many with. On more machines than simply a 2 stroke chainsaw actually, many. Like mentioned before, this is simply a quick first review, it by no means is a dissection of the complete machine yet a review from a "typical" homeowner perspective who will have far less tools and in some cases far less experience. Thanks for the constructive criticism and info. Let me know when you have balanced carbs on an H2 2 stroke..... Carb enthusiast will know what this is. Quite wonderful machine ....

    • @CornucopiaFarmstead
      @CornucopiaFarmstead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cody I agree. Until we run it in a bit more and switch it to 40:1, I'm leaving it right where it is for now. I haven't checked the plug for color or even tached it. I've simply went on feel low and high. We work our farm here while I also work on a 300 acre tree nursery and time hasn't been kind to me at home to dial in even our chickens for that matter lol... we just wanted to get these out as this is a new saw for Neo-tec. It is on the to do list as this is the saw Melissa likes to use and she doesn't tune carbs at all. When we first received the saw it was farther out than it is now, but, it does go through the range top to bottom and doesn't stall or foul out(even with 25:1 fuel). So that gets us by for now. Thanks for commenting 👍 and subscribing! Ric

      We actually cut some rounds with it this evening. We had a time tuning it on 25/1 fuel. Since settling it in We haven't had any issues in runability. Literally very handy! Once we switch it to 40/1 we will see how well it runs from there. Pleased with its capabilities at this point along with its ergonomics. Thanks for commenting and subscribing! We were told many times in the last 2 years that we should consider taking our flags down for fear of retribution. We have many brothers and sisters in law enforcement or in the military. Supporting and standing beside these brothers and sisters, we didn't think twice about taking our flags down. Our law enforcement near and far often stop in, like always, are welcome. Everyone in our community knows and they too support. This support will always be here for you all 🤝

    More fuel! more fuel! the other way! lol... nice long review.. Can't adjust every saw to work in every location out of the box.. Some need to be tuned, just the way it is. You cannot know what altitude the saw is going to be used. Higher up you go, the less oxygen. Example, airplanes.... the have an adjustment knob right there in the cockpit due to oxygen density in the air. until fuel injection is put on these small CC engines, (which they are starting already) this is the way of an out of the box reveiw will go.. Nobodys fault, just is what it is...

  • @killer2600
    @killer2600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not a great review. Personally, I would have liked to see how the saw ran out of the box. I'm sure most of the buyers aren't buying it to learn carb tuning but instead to cut wood. It's kind of like buying chain, if it needs to be sharpened out of the box it's junk. Sure it'll cut after sharpening but brand new chain shouldn't need to be sharpened before the first use.

I did what I would normally do with anything. People have there opinions and that is why we share ours. Some like them some don't, some opinions like reviews, they dont carry much weight either! Although it's against my better judgement to buy a saw made like this, I like the color. But, if I wanted to support slave labor, own a piece of stolen technology, produced by slave labor, screw up the environment (The Chinese have NO regard for contamination), and support a communist regime, bent on the destruction of democracy and freedom, I would consider this saw. @@donmarshall4888 very true. Also everyone needs to consider most everything in most stores throughout the world contain products or foods coming from China. From ground beef to Nike and everything else. I think it is strange how one Chinese item is ok but another is pure junk. I guess people justify one over the other simply because of the labeling. 100% of an iPhone is made in China so are many other items. But like you said, I don't have anything against the Chinese people, but also, we contract them to build items and we purchase them because we can't pay people in our own country to make the same item as affordable as they can. To each there own!
