Photosensitive warning: at 5:08, an extract from the original Zelda NES ending contains flashing images. Sorry guys we didn't even think about this possible issue. Hope you're enjoying the rest of the video!
I also came here to mention this. It might be a good idea to add in something to cover the flashing or replace the scene with a still image using the youtube editing. I know it sucks to use, but that flashing is real severe.
I always had a theory as a kid that the humans of Clocktown originated from the East, so the Ikana crest being in the clocktower the whole time is a wild revelation for me. I'd be willing to chalk it up to coincidence if the imagery in Majora's Mask didn't feel so deliberate.
They bothered including quite a bit of unspoken lore in this game (a lot of imagery and whatnot) so it would not surprise me in the slightest if they thought up a rough history for Termina's people :)
I had always felt that the surviving "mayors" of Clock Town were descendants of the Ikana clan, so to see that Clock Town likely once belonged to Ikana is incredible and something I thought there was no proof of.
In the southern swamp, I find it faster to just roll through the water as goronlink. None of the water there is deep enough for him to drown so you can roll as fast as you want
An interesting thing to note from 8:15, is that there were more Skullwalltullas in the Japanese version of the game. There was a whole underground area you needed to get through to get to the Bean Salesman in the Deku Palace that had a couple of them. I don't know why, but that section was removed in international releases.
There are four Skullwalltulas in the deku palace exactly, which makes a total of five if you count the other one in that hole of Termina in the japanese version, but it's still a very rare enemy, no idea why Nintendo never added them in the Woodfall temple or in the spider houses, they would have fit very well in those areas.
This is my absolute favourite series on TH-cam. Majoras mask is my favourite game of all time and whenever I see you post another video on it I am overjoyed to learn more!
Funny thing about the twisted corridors in the N64 Zeldas. Forgot where I read it, but apparently the effect was discovered by accident. Not only did they keep the code in because it was cool as hell, but they designed certain areas around it.
In the Warped Corridor if you use levitation cheat while Link walk by, you’ll stuck up the door until the cinematic end then you’ll have freedom to check the area. Thanks for the series, big fan of majora’s mask and your videos keep going ❤️🔥
You can also just use bomb hovering to get back over due to lack of ceiling above that door. Devs simply didn't think it was necessary. It takes a lot of explosives, though.
Your custom blur effect had me trippin. On another note: that Ikana symbol being everywhere…I wonder how much of an influence Ikana had over Termina back in its prime? We can only assume things were somewhat structured and orderly and then Majora came into play after the fact.
Not sure if anybody noticed, but while Gold Skultullas were completely stationary in Ocarina of Time, plenty of them crawl around in the Swap and Ocean spider houses in Majora's Mask. They also don't stop Link from moving in Majora's Mask when you collect a token. A nice quality of life change.
Wow, I never knew that Skulwalltulas were so rare! I don't remember seeing them so often, but I didn't know they were practically absent! I wonder why they decided to include that one... That camera work was really nice! Good job!!
10 / 10 presentation as usual. Some of the slickest minimalistic custom footage edits I've seen. Also, that lone Skullwalltula survives the moon crash landing, I bet ya!
I’ll just keep adding this until hopefully you see it and put it in a future video: During the fight with Majora’s Mask, when you get to Majora’s Wrath, if you do enough damage for it to start attacking you with the lasso tentacles, change into Deku Link. Because Deku Link is small and light, when Majora’s Wrath throws you over its shoulder, you can actually fly across the entire arena. If aimed just right, you can get it to throw you into the alcove where Majora’s Mask is stuck to the wall at the very beginning of the fight. This makes it nearly impossible for Majora to hit you. This is only doable in the N64 version. On 3DS they patched it and there’s an invisible barrier over the alcove.
You can actually complete a heart container as Deku Link during the 1st 3 day cycle. You can obtain these 4 heart pieces in Clock Town as Deku Link within this cycle. The 1st one can be obtained on the Clock Tower deck after trading the Moon’s Tear. The 2nd one can be obtained by winning the postman’s game on nights 1 and 2. The 3rd one can be obtained by trading the title deed at the inn after midnight. The 4th one can be obtained by winning the Deku Playground game 3 times each day.
About the skullwalltulas: There is actually an unused grotto in the game that uses them as well! You can get there by going into a hex editor and changing an exit value to 1480
@@IvanFranco120 I think you’re right actually, it might be accessible from Deku Palace in the JP version iirc? It’s definitely unused in all other versions though.
I'm still makin' my way through your videos, but I really hope you include the part where, in certain versions of Majora's Mask, you can put on the Fierce Deity Mask while you're in Sakon's hideout. When you and Kafei make it out, you get to roam around Termina in that form until sunrise. :O
Love these videos. Some things I knew, others blow my mind. One thing I really disliked about MM was its mirror shield. I thought it was a stupid design and once you get it you're stuck with it. Why not put a sun symbol or the Ikana crest on it instead of that creepy face?
When you get the Moon's Tear on the first or second day, Skull Kid smacks his rear and jumps to somewhere. However, if you get the moon's tear on the final day, Skull Kid just stands there and stares at you.
Fun thing about the twisted corridor, if you use cheats, you can clip through the door and actually walk through it as you would in the ones in forest temple.

it was rearranged as I recall, they thought it was too confusing or too hard. i remember getting lost in that part _as it is,_ so
I remember that underground section. I believe it was restored in the Majora's Mask ROM hack called "Masked Quest".
@@Kruegernator123 it's restored in the Redux too (or at least it is in mine)

Your custom blur effect had me trippin. On another note: that Ikana symbol being everywhere…I wonder how much of an influence Ikana had over Termina back in its prime? We can only assume things were somewhat structured and orderly and then Majora came into play after the fact.

Indubitably.

I can’t believe I never noticed the wall skultulas never show up in MM except for the grotto you showed
The crest underneath the clock tower supports my fan hypothesis that Clock Town was founded by the same group of people who inhabited Ikana.
