- August 2, 2017 / VLOG NO. 66 - We spent the day in the most amazing place in Catalonia, at the Montserrat Cave Monastery. It was definitely the highlight of my trip to Spain. It's about an hour long drive (approx. 65 km), but it's definitely worth it if you have the time. Me, Alex, and Shane spent a whole day exploring there-and it still wasn't enough!

Those tall spikey flowers are from an agave, probably Agave americana aka Century Plant. After the bloom the whole plant dies. They're native to Mexico.

This cave looks super cool! I love the drone footage.. I want to get one but I'm scared I will A.Crash it and B.Not be able to figure out all the flying regulations in different places! Also saving up for a nicer camera.. currently using my iPhone.
+Jamie Banks I'm sure you won't crash it! They're actually quite failsafe, and have a lot of safety precautions built in!
Now the regulations are another thing haha. Hope you're able to get a new camera!!
If you haven't crashed a drone yet, you are in the minority. Everyone I follow who uses a drone has crashed it. I've crashed mine 4 times and I am not careless (by most standards). I did enjoy the video and always love the aerial views :-)

Thankfully, the Phantoms are fairly robust. My first crash was a result of wind and bystanders asking all kinds of questions distracting me. Mr. Zoomie struck a branch high in a pine tree and fell about 80 feet breaking the camera and gimbal off. $525 later I was back in business. I then proceeded to put the Phantom into a creek, trying to film waterfalls (did this 2 times in a row when there were no satellites available). Then crashed it into the eves around our house. The final death blow was crashing into a 120 foot tall tree sitting on a 60 foot tall hill (failed to account for the added height from the hill a quarter mile away). Thankfully I learned some lessons and haven't crashed my replacement P3 yet :-)
+Travels with Yoly haha oh man! Don't you hate it when the bystanders always annoy you whilst flying?! Luckily my Mavic has survived me flying it :) Flew earlier today, but it was quite windy, high gusts and it was starting to struggle..

Oh my goodness!! I cannot BELIEVE that you took the tram to go to the highest point of Montserrat and you didn't do the hike!! I spent 2 hours doing the hike in the snow & rain to get to the top. It was one of the most INCREDIBLE experiences of my life. Something no fenicular ride can give! haha. You'll see my journey on my channel :)
Well I wish I would have been able to but I didn’t have the time! Montserrat is beautiful, I do want to come back to Catalonia at one point!
