  • Kurzer Zusammenschnitt des Sicherheitstrainings mit dem Icepeak 6. Extra mit besseren und schlechteren Beispielen. (Bsp.

was the difficulty you had in recovering from the full stall due to you not holding brake on until wing had reinflated or is this how this wing normally reacts???
I thought the technique in a stall was full brake to stall...hold brake at no less than 3/4 until wing reinflates, then go half until it is stable, then back to trim. (i note that just as it was recovering you went hands up, which then initiated a frontal collapse and the process all over again)

+Adam Edgar your description about the full stall is generally right. But with comp- wings it's bit more complex.
First of all, you couldn't stall only by full brake because if you do this, the wing-tips impose .
You've to brake till the tips come backwards, hold the brakes a short moment up and then full down.
The second thing is to let them go earlier as normal wings.
In the video you could see one winghalf becomes fast and want to fly.
The fault was, i thought it's possible to correct this by holding my hands more down to reach the half wing reinflate. But the correct way is to let him go.
I hope you could understand, what i want to explain with my bad english ;-)

Ah...i see. I recently had an absolute shitstorm from this glider after a parachutal. I suppose i wasnt expecting it to be able to surge with such great energy from a seemingly vertical position above me (ie it didnt lag backwards at all...but it was able to accelerate forwards at incredible speed from a vertical position). My response was fast but not measured enough to counteract the massive surge forwards. I applied only about half brake unfortunately being equally badly rewarded for lack lustre effort. The result being a glider coming within just a few degrees of being directly underneath me. I could just see a tiny bit of our planet between the leading edge of the glider and my feet...it was that close.
the next thing i remember was seeing it completely ball up down there...and within an eye blink, me and that little ball swap places. I took charge more deliberately from that point and got it open...with a big assymetric crevat ...thus doing a full 360 before finally sorting that out and flying away.
A truly memorable experience. This glider seems to love giving its pilot a real kick in the backside for stuffing up!
