Let's not even count transformations, it's still amazing how easily Goku can grab an angry Trunks's arm and stop him from punching. They're both in base and Goku's completely relaxed and doesn't even try. The power gap is extraordinary at this point.

The first time was to test Goku's strength since considering Goku was dead when Trunks was born in his timeline, all he heard was stories from friends about Goku and wanted to see his power for himself. Here, Trunks thought Goku was Black considering Black was the last thing he remembers before passing out and Goku was one of the first ones who he saw, not to mention he thought Goku was still dead after being killed by Cell. Two different circumstances.

Future Trunks has insanely complex PTSD in this arc and it's something that drives him throughout this entire thing, culminating to the end of the series. Yes, the series was convoluted as hell, but the general story was entertaining and some of the best fights of the show came up, like the rematch fight against Goku Black and Zamasu, Goku going ballistic when he found out what Zamasu did, Beerus's first ever Hakai (spoken one at least), Zeno blowing up a universe, and Rose Sayian God where all amazing.
It only gets serious and emotional whenever Future Trunks shows up. Rest of time, there was no real sense of fear for the characters. It's just power up after power up.

I think it'd have been cool if this is how the Goku vs Trunks fight started rather than just sparring. It could have foreshadowed super Saiyan rage if Trunks was briefly able to push Goku to ssj3 before running out of energy, and it would have been interesting to see Trunks trying to actually kill Goku when Goku really doesn't want to hurt Trunks. It could have started with Trunks immediately entering ssj2 upon waking up and tackling Goku into the sky so that Bulma didn't intervene.

Finding out je was Zamasu was a buzzkill but that doesn't change my opinion on Black. My favourite arc is probably the Cell arc, Frieza Namek arc or the Saiyan arc. But the Black arc is up there with them
