i wouldn't call smear frames "cheats." they're not really being lazy or anything. they're very important for quick movements. anyway, fantastic animation! i agree about removing the outline on the smears as well. nice tip.
Yes perhaps cheat frames isn't the best term to use. As you say they're pretty important for quick movements. In this context I guess I was trying to show how that particular transition was not something I wanted to invest time in, hence the use of frames. And so the "cheating" is more in the quick movement rather than the smear itself
