    Just watched a ton of tutorials on color and nobody explained the basics of hue saturation and value more simple or easy to understand! Thanks so much!

    I loved this so much. I feel like no matter how long I'm doing art I always have a tough time with choosing colors. Stuff like this helps so much! Can't wait to see more tutorials! Love to see some about character design and world building!

    This is by far the most insightful tutorial I have seen for palettes. I love it.

    Wow this is so useful, I've watched a lot of videos on color theory and how to make a palette but this one made it finally click for me! I also love how you show what you do in asprite, it's super easy to follow and now I feel motivated to give pixel art another go, I stopped for a few months because I could never seem to get the colours right. I'm excited to get back into it now that I get it!

    Great video on colour theory! I definitely still struggle with this, and while there are a few other tutorials on the subject, yours is probably the most comprehensive.
    I'll definitely he using this as a resource. Thanks!

    My tip is downloading a photo from a real world example for your pixel art. Put it in Photoshop or whatever program you use and take the color codes from it, 4-6 should be fine.
    Take color codes from lighter and darker parts and one from the shadows it casts. A simple tree or simular object is a good starting point. Also choose a reference photo that fits the mood of your pixel art goal.

    also something i recommend when making small palettes, start only values no color no saturatiom, use only those and when you tihnk the artwork is ready, slot the colors in and adjust

    Great video! I didn't know about the ctrl + u thing and will probably use that further down the line. I would really like to know how you do some of your post-processing in Unity as I struggle with that quite a lot (shadows, dust clouds, etc). Especially so it fits with the pixel art style. Thank you and keep on being awesome!

    Hello, really cool video !
    At 6:55 why did you not just use Edit>Adjustements>Brightness ? It opens a windows the same than Ctrl + U (for HUE shifting) but for brightness, it should be easier to setup ?
    Thanks for all others tips

    I can chose a three colour palette, maybe a 10 colour palette, but the moment I need the colours to look cohesive in a cute stylized for 100s of assets in a game is so scary

  • @darrylwolfe7359
    @darrylwolfe7359 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Question: if you have made a pallete, does that mean you have to use those colors only?

    • @WattDesigns
      @WattDesigns  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope! It can be a tough limitation that forces a bit of creativity, but sometimes you just NEED more colors (especially for a game). I’ll usually make a base palette, then add a few more here and there when I need to, and occasionally use some colors that don’t end up on the palette at all
      I’ll also often use the palette colors and then desaturate them a bit. It would be a bit blinding if all the grass in my game was a very rich saturated green, so I typically make all the floors in my game desaturated to let the players and stuff pop a bit more
      I usually only rigidly stick to a palette if I’m trying to make something particularly artsy, or maybe something for a T shirt where I can only print with a few colors

    I know this video isn't related to the game your making but I left a comment that I hope you have read and If I remember correctly I talked about Stardew Valley feels so alive yet empty at times and the aliveness comes from all the characters and their stories and events but the emptiness I couldn't explain well I know a big contributor to that emptiness was the fact that the characters had this story and these things but they didn't build on that barely at all for a lot of characters for example Abagail talks about how she wants to be a adventurer and is keeping off of her school work but then you motivate her but it doesn't really add to much to the world yeah maybe it adds a tiny statue and you can occasionally find Abagail at floor 20 but other than that it doesn't add much after already going through the characters story so for me at least it gives off a world full of characters but the characters are secretly robots that don't build onto much to their set personality. I might be going too deep into this but I just like how this game is looking and want it to feel good also this video was helpful.
