    The Park Fire exploded in size once again in Northern California, consuming 375 square miles of forest in less than 60 hours since it first began. Extreme fire behavior with group torching was observed 5-7 miles north of Forest Ranch, CA. Firefighters battled the blaze, with handcrews attempting to cut line around several spot fires.

    This is insane. Too bad that current government doesn’t allow better management of forestry lands. One would think that control burns in the winter or wet season would be preferable to mega fires in the summer or dry season.

      It is easier said than done. These canyons are very difficult to navigate. The response on this fire has been quite remarkable and the lessons from the Campfire were well learned. Nature is uncontrollable, and people take chances living in the forests. Climate change is more to blame than government inaction, and that is a political issue that one party fights doing anything about.

    I hope this arsonist NEVER gets to see the outside of a prison ever again. HOW he didnt get prison time for his first felony against a 14 year old girl in 2001 is beyond me, and got his second felony in 2002 and got 20 years. Im glad there is a felony 3 strike rule in california and he is looking at life in prison for pushing his flaming car into a 60 foot gully sparking this fire.

    I hear long tern people from California say stuff like, this area hasn't had a fire for 15-20 years, it's building alot of fuel. Years ago Yellow Stone park had a huge amount burned. In the next few years there was way more wildlife diversity. Strange how cycles of life are. Now in California, there are cities and town in big fire danger areas. Bet fire insurance is real high. Thought everything there is, even trees.

      Trying to make yourself feel good about it, aren't you? i grew up in Northern California from 1952 on. Back in the old days, we hardly ever had fires and never ones this big.

      @putteslaintxtbks5166 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @deaddocreallydeaddoc5244 I would like to see records from way back on acres burned and also how much was being spent (today's equivalent) on firebreaks, controlled burns, bush removal, lumber harvest, etc. I went to Canada around 1982 and we went through spots were over 100 miles had burned, pretty much only stumps left and wondered how such big fires and didn't see anything on the news. Today, we see way more on the internet. How much different is it today only because of that? I don't know. I do know that here in the midwest, it use to be largely prairie grass and there were huge fires, but now way less, most is now crops.

    • @putteslaintxtbks5166
      @putteslaintxtbks5166 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @deaddocreallydeaddoc5244 And no I don't feel good about it. Most fires in are forests use to be do to lightning strikes and miss managed camp fires, etc. Now because of those things and powerlines and way more arsen, as the Parks fire was. Also heard non native ukalipis (sp) trees and such, that burn like a match, are all over. Here in the Blackhill of SD, a Beatles has been killing large areas of trees and they stand dead. My friend sold his place there a few years ago because huge fires were likely to come through and leave his land will little value.

      About one year after the Campfire we drove through Paradise to reach a function in Magalia. It was amazing to see so many pine trees that were clearly burnt, with black bark and lots of empty black limbs sticking out like a pin cushion but new bright green pine boughs were growing out of the trunks all the way up. There were large ferns growing in empty parking lots, and flowers were growing where they had been for years. Nature comes back. This state is amazing because its nature is remarkably diverse and resilient.

      California is about 105,000,000 acres. Much of what burns can grow back pretty quickly. So five or ten million acres burning each year is not a big deal. That can go on forever.

    • @LeeP-lr5ym
      @LeeP-lr5ym 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@suzannebizzini The state does OK. but with climate change deniers it is challenging. The thing that is interesting is that a lot of the plants in the forested areas especially only germinate after they have been burned. So allergy season is always more 'fun' after a big fire. I live close the fire and it has been amazing how many resources and people are coming from all over to help and the refugee centers are kicked in, and it is very well organized to help. The biggest problem other than the weather is the PTSD everyone here is suffering because of the Campfire six years ago. They have professional counseling available for those that need it as of the day the fire started.

    I think the left (west) and right (east) flanks of the fire are contained. The west flank being the one near Chico and right flank being the one near Paradise. I’d say about 50 percent of the fire is contained except for the top (north) head of the fire and NE east corner of the fire. Been monitoring it since it began and haven’t noticed growth west side (Chico) or east side (paradise) so this means they have those two sides under control. 😊 Good job to all first responders!!

      Paradise just got evacuation orders. My family in Shasta County, 2 hours from Chico, just got safely out due to evacuation orders for areas near Lassen Park. This is bigger and faster than the Carr Fire and the Camp Fire, of which many who live in the area are still traumatized by. Prayers to all.

      California is highly diversified. There are Fire fighters from all over, with all kinds of skin colors. There are women and LBGTQ busting their ass, and often work harder because it takes more to prove they are equal than white male privilege. I know. I served.
      Tell me how you're an a-hole without saying you're an a-hole - by making a reference to DEI as if it's a bad thing! Last I checked, this is still America with rights and freedoms for ALL. And I'd be damned if I let an A-hole like you, MAGA, and your cult leader Trump take that away from me or anyone else in this country! I have a combat service record to prove it.
