  • Welcome to Sterlington, A place where the settlers are worked like dogs, For long hours in the heat and snow on very little food. All in the pursuit to build a glorious castle for the tyrant Sterling.
In this series we are playing on standard difficulty, on a hillside map running the a new life scenario. Starting with three settlers Alfred, Elenor and of course Sterling.
In this episode we race to finish the west end wall, one of three projects.
    A New Life
The plague had ravaged the British Isles, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Untold millions went to an early grave. And those left standing were plunged into poverty, brutally scarred by the horrors that they had witnessed. Nothing would ever be the same again.
As the earth quickened in spring of the year 1353, Sterling, Elenor and Alfred set off into the wilderness to claim a piece of the land as their own, as was their right, in the eyes of God and under the Law. Here, they may lay down the foundations for some kind of future. Perhaps hope will follow.
Good land is there for the taking, In all four corners of this once mighty land, citizens are rebuilding in the hope that the horrors of the past few years can be left behind. It's possible that there will be fighting, drought, sickness, hunger but what of it?
'Life goes on,' says Elenor, 'and so must we.
Into a landscape of rolling hills and ancient, crumbling forts the companions trekked. Each ascent rewarded Alfred with a view that stretched for many leagues. No enemy approach would go unseen, he thought. They built a camp that would, in time, become the settlement of Sterlington.

I think having no doors at all at those outer towers would make the raiders ignore them and go to the front gate instead

He built them to sally forth against any trebs on the map edge, so he needs to be able to exit them. But you are right , the AI will become obsessed with attacking a door even if it leads no where.

@@tdsdave Well, he could still shoot on the people operating the trebs. Also, one could then just punch a hole in the tower to create a "door" - Whether you would consider that cheating is up to you, you could explain it in-game as a "hidden door", unknown to the attackers - those did exist in history

Oh I'm not adverse to cheesing. When I experimented with doing the underground routes to edges of the map for this purpose , I'd have a pit in front of the door , and wood inside the tower ready to build flooring over it, I'd break it after I was done . They'd attack the main fort doors they could path to , I'd build the flooring an pop out to sort out the trebs.
You have to be lucky for the trebs to be in range and visible from the tower itself.
Talking of cheese when prisoners come into the game I have a 10x5 pittrap waiting for them, max catch so far has been about 15 from a single raid. v = qrEcfkVstec

I'm finding it depends on where the enemy spawns on the map to where they attack. More often anywhere east of the main waterfall wall they attack the front gate. West of the wall they attack that tower. I am thinking about modifying the west waterfall wall in such a way that it covers that west tower. Though I do like the idea of breaking a wall to form a door and im looking forward to being able to to take prisoners. I believe there's a lot of fun to be had with that mechanic. Cheers guys I love hearing clever solutions to exploit and cheese the game.
