+smaki - Midnight Club was a hard game for many people that's why it failed. The last game was easy at the start but got harder and harder as you progressed to the point of people quitting the game. It has only the hardcore following but fails in casual shit where Need For Speed actually steps in.
+DjGodaryD86 Completely with you there. Midnight Club 2 was my first PS2 game actually. Enjoyed the series up until that L.A. garbage. Was super fun driving through buildings and chasing pedestrians, but as you said it got too difficult to enjoy. You would end up in the lead for 95% of the race, at the end a wall or turn would show up from nowhere and you'd crash and have nowhere near enough time to recover.

The menu itself is really confusing to me. I really miss NFS Most Wanted 2005, and Underground, and Carbon. :/

This game definitely has some flaws but I honestly love it. The driving is so much fun and the tuning/modifying is great. The graphics are also absolutely amazing as well.

I would have some fun if this bloody game didnt need to force every human to have good ass internet connection just to play singleplayer. Not everyone cares much about online play so why on earth they couldnt seperate the server? And while NFS Heat seemed to get rid of that, I still wanted to try 2015 but the frustating feature that existed for one lame reason ( Autolog ) made this game just unbearable to play without getting worried to get disconnected out of blue.
Why is everyone complaining about real life cutscenes? In most wanted 2005 they were real life and it is the best game of the series.

You know, I think the cutscenes are really well produced, except for the terrible dialogue. They are well shot and blend beautifully with the game world. In the garage as they walk around your car, that's your in game car in a live action cutscene and it works beautifully. I'm a fan of the POV camera and I actually think it works better here than it did in the movie Enter The Void.

i agree with the no offline mode. The "offline" mode is just solo play, you can find it in the options once you're in the garage. I've played Hot pursuit 2, Underground 1 & 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Undercover so im pretty familiar with the series. The cheesyness with the cut scenes was present in MW, so its a good throwback. I've put 100hrs in the game, 100% the game and i still enjoy it and play it daily. Racing randoms and just trying out all the cars is the best part. Cops are annoying starting out but get easier as you upgrade your car. I definitely recommend this over The Crew hands down.

I might be a big fan of Nfs, but i won't buy a game that you can't f*ckin pause properly to go and take a shit!
I won't buy it until they release an update that 1: Allows us to play without an internet connection. And 2: Adds a real pause option, manual transmission and cockpit view for every car!

I just want a manual transmission. It just pisses me off that there hasn't been a single NFS game (except Shift) since HP2010 that has manual.

Well they planned on getting back to the roots of Underground right, but more reminiscent of car culture? Well most of us lovers of car culture actually prefer manual over auto transmissions (I don't mind them in classic cars) and having more control of the car really. Why take away something that has been a part of NFS for so long? I actually blame Criterion for this even if HP was great.
Going to buy it when it's available on PC.

I just bought it two days ago, already have 10 some hours playing, and I’m 50% done with the campaign, finished Speed and Style. Got it for $6.59 exactly on PSN, with PS Plus, and I’m happy! Deluxe edition made a whole difference. Got cars easier and upgrades, well, 10% discount on everything, was really nice. As I write this. I have the weird Hot rod Indy car, the GTR Premium sitting at $80k, and the BMW E46 or whatever the Deluxe car is. And Ken Block’s Mustang, The Jap’s Porsche, and Magnus’ Porsche. In warehouse. Pretty happy with my purchase.
In terms of gameplay I love the handling, putting all the tuning options to cater towards grip makes a huge difference from drift, even upgrades. My BMW and GTR, which come with ~300 and ~550 HP respectively, are sitting around 1,000 horsepower now. And I have over 2 mil “R”, or whatever the “respect” is in the game.
If you can get this game for less than $10, go for it, it’ll definitely be a tad grindy, but most NFS games are like that!

Well, players always want the old games made new, so if EA does this long enough, the old games are actually the ones with this type of problem too and when everybody want a game "like the old ones", EA can start to build in DRM and bad Gameplay while blaming the customers wishes when they cry about things they wanted to get packed into the game =D

It's 2019 and there's still no "Offline" mode. I tried so hard to love the game cz it brought back some classic arcade style races with gorgeous graphics and customisations but it still sucked overall and something felt off and missing. Maybe I can live with the always online mode but there's something missing from this game which NFS U2 and U1 had or for the fact MW2005 had since it has cop chases.

Just the fact that all the NPC racers have voice chatter during races and their own style and personality, alone makes it the best, not to mention real life locations to meet up like Pizza hut, 7 eleven, etc., speed limits in free roam, pink slip and wager races, vehicle abilities and nitrous and more.👍👍🔥🔥

Guys... I really think we've all lost sight of what this game was all about. Look back two years ago to when Rivals was released, and even further back to when Most Wanted 2012 was released. Those games were not what we considered "classic" Need For Speed. *In my opinion*, they were both some of the least attractive NFS titles so far, however that isn't important. Rivals paved the way for Ghost Games to get the Need For Speed Network in working order, and make sure it was ready to support the game we've all been waiting for. Guys, we have been asking for this since Undercover! The true Need For Speed customization that we've wanted! Ghost Games is taking the franchise in an entirely new direction, and they're actually listening to what we have to say. This is only the first release in getting that perfect game that we wanted. I trust Ghost Games that they will take the series to exactly where we wanted it to be, and even exactly where it should be. Need For Speed is just going to keep getting better, and we're truly returning to the roots!
Evidence that they are listening:
-Complete car customization, unlike anything we've seen in recent versions of NFS
-They are unlocking the stupid frame cap for the PC version, because they know they would never hear the end of it from PC gamers that want to get the best frame rate out of their experience!
-Rumors about manual transmission later on, I'm sure there are a few people out there that would like to see this
-Potential abolishment of shitty micro-transactions that nobody likes
-Potential free DLC (We will see how this holds up in the future, Ghost Games needs to make money somehow. As long as the prices are not too outrageous, I don't see how this could be a bad thing.)
-Ghost Games has already released a free update to add a mirror function to the wrap editor, which was highly requested by players
-Not to mention the many more releases that Ghost Games has hinted at, more specifically neons, and possibly some more cars!
I haven't even played the game yet. All we know is that Ghost is actually listening to us. In my opinion, that is a step in the right direction and I am excited to see where Ghost Games takes the franchise (both in short term and next major title releases!)
But people just LIKE to hate on things, that's one of the reasons why this game is getting so much hate

Rivals sucked. Most Wanted 2012 was a lot better although it didn't work that well as a NFS game, I still had lots of fun playing it.
I know its 2018 an im just watching this now, but i enjoy Gmeranx thoughts on games, and how well you explain things.
Also I have never had trouble getting away from the police, but i dont use fwd cars, so thats probably why.
Something I want to point out about it being open world and always online is that groups of friends and such who are into rl car culture will be likely to cruise and have carmeets and so on.
just to add my thoughts about the game; I thoroughly enjoy it! love so many aspects of the game. the only thing that seems to bother me is that there's no manual mode, but I seem to get over that when I actually start playing the game. other than that, I'm very happy I bought the game. brings back a lot of memories from the underground series.
everyone just loves to get on the "let's hate NFS because everyone is hating it" train. I bought the deluxe edition and I don't regret it, it's an amazing game and the map is huge and the sound of the cars are unreal. watching gameplay is totally different than playing it, and I think it was worth the buy. I haven't had any frame drops and the online always does suck but when EA makes it an offline game then you should really buy it. play something before you say it sucks and that goes for all games
I'm sure it doesn't suck as a game (it works) but they promised a reboot, a title that will deliver or even exceed our expectations on it. Question is did it deliver for you? It's hella disappointing. There's a lack of everything. Customization for some cars (there's a few more options for JDM cars but still not as appealing a number as Underground or even Forza), lack of challenging and number of cops, lack of traffic (city looks so damn empty for bustling night life), no manual transmission, no cockpit view, handling is so simplistic (take a look back at MW2005, Underground or not even High Stakes back for the PS1. That was an arcade game with handling leaning towards simulation but still had sense of speed), oh lacking sense of speed, no pausing, need I say more?
This is not the NFS reboot we were expecting so I'm very disappointed but I wouldn't say it sucks.

I love the performance customisations i learned a lot from it, it has a good handling but what i really feel let me down is career mod it's just about making friends and it seems shallow and rewardless at the end

Grabbed this on PSN Black Friday sale for $9. I'm extremely happy with it. I'm an extremely casual racer fan. NFS underground was my favorite racer and this feels right at home. I enjoy the Live action cutscenes. Coming from playing Persona 5, the constant calls from your friends doesn't bother me too much. Thanks for the video guys.

Take Carbon and NFSU2 and combine it with good graphics. Carbon had a beast customization system. You really could build your car 100% unique.

I kinda like the goofy real life cutscenes.
Last NFS game which I really enjoyed was the Undercover one. Even though not as cool as immortal Most Wanted (2005), I still managed to get some fun from it. TRUE fun. Not to mention the Underground series, Hot Pursuit 2 (remember that killer OST?), and the Holy Grail of series - Porsche 2000.
Then after Undercover, a era of s..tness brutally kicks in. Shift, which tries to set players in more "realistic" environment.
New Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted, and Rivals. Honestly, who would think about putting WEAPONS in NFS game?? Screw the lack of customization opts, I may get over it, but gimme a break. If I want to play a vehicular combat game, I'd go for Twisted Metal, or Carmageddon. Need For Speed franchise is (or it's supposed to be) an arcade racing genre.
And, ladies, gentlemen and other kind; the fresh Need For Speed. How I'll describe it? With one word: meh. I cannot see that distinctive Underground-ish feel. I doubt there is as many visual customization options as in Underground series. Online play only.
RIP Need For Speed 1994-2008. Gonna miss blazing through the sunset in Normandie in Porsche 356. Gonna miss the tens of cops chasing my a.. in Most Wanted. A great franchise that falled miserably into ruin.
+Per Zycklon Dude trust me, the devs have listened to the fans, this game has everything we wanted from NFS in a long time, customisation, a proper story, varied car list with tuner, underground style open world. Give the game a try, its not as bad as reviewers make it seem, if your a true NFS fan and been playing since UG, you wont be disappointed

Whatever you guys think about this game, it really is good. And i haven't bought any NFS game since Shift 2, because all weren't good in my opinion, but the new one has got everything a good racing game needs.
Cutscenes...Okay, they are a bit weird but the other stuff is really well made.
(Sound, Physics, Graphics, nice cars, many tuning options and a big Open World to drive and have fun on)
Getting calls all the time - wich is wrong - or the fact that it hasn't got an offline mode (wich will come soon) isn't a reason to say it's bad -

Forza is just as bad when it comes to physics, it should've had a physics engine similar to Underground 2.

Pause: in the settings, game settings, there is a little button to "play alone" that takes you offline, it's hidden there... what I wanted to see was a splitscreen... remember when you could play against your friends on the same tv?
I don't mind manual gearboxes... unless I'm actualy sitting in the car with the stearing wheel in one hand and the shift nob in the other. I don't really feel much of a dif having the game shift for me or doing it myself

When i posted this i was REALLY pissed with this game. It has so many bugs, it drives so badly, and many, many (many) times during a race, a car will show up from nowhere and crash on you. But in the end, i thought it was ok. It is worth 12USD of course. IF you have time to spare.

Beat the game yesterday. This game is a mess, Customization is lacking for a lot of the cars you can choose from (Only 51). Handling is the worst I've ever played and that is with changing the sliders endlessly. Music is forgettable unlike most NFS Games. (As I hum Fat Joe - Lean Back from Underground 2 now) The early cutscenes are interesting but later cut scenes are completely pointless. The AI is horrible, not only rubberbandy but also they will crash into walls infront of you or pop up randomly when racing. And for being always Online, if you play by yourself the server you are in feels lifeless. You will rarely meet any of the other players in the lobby and when you do all you usually do is rev your engine at each other and do 1 race.
Only issue I have for the game is that there isn't much to do after the "story mode". I wish they would make them longer. But luckily they'll keep updating it and add mini stories like Eddie's challenges. Other than that the game is awesome! Would recommend it. Oh yeah, that frame drop only happens on Xbox, haven't had that problem on PS4.

I am a NFS fan, and until now I've only played the beta, and that was AWESOME, but I'll be playing this game very soon!Subbed!
I've been having a good time playing this game so far. My only problem is that it starts to lag sometimes with the online only mode, and when you are tapping buttons while in a hard level drift race when this happens, it won't catch what you did , causing you to wreck and possibly lose the whole race.
and NFS has never had a real cockpit view so why in the world are yall so butt hurt that they still don't have it now?? it's an ARCADE racer. besides wouldn't you want to see the outside of the car that you just took an hour customizing

need for speed one and two both had cockpit views as did shift 1 and 2. im almost positive that untill underground they all had cockpit.
+Jedadiah Tucker they did not except the original NFS and Shift and that was aimed at being more of a simulator than an arcade game. and ever since they have not. they did however have the hood view that is still present today. And still to condemn a game when the past decade they haven't had a cockpit view is pretty petty in my opinion

I personally really enjoy the online aspect of this game. Nothing is more enjoyable than challenging a Lamborghini to a sprint and beating them in your civic.

I've played alot of the NFS games and wasn't a huge fan of the minimal customization and sometimes the handling in some games. But this new one offers a lot of new features and the game looks amazing. I'm also a huge Midnight Club fan and how the cars handle in that game, any suggestions on if I should get this game in the later future?
7 years later I bought this game on sale along with like 2 others for 3 bucks on my Xbox looking for it on mu PS5 I love the driving custizing and racing. It can get boring at times but that's me with any game I believe I jump game to game just depends on my hyper fixation

i dont think this was supposed to be the underground successor, but the Most Wanted successor, i mean, the cop chase, the city/missions, and ofcourse the continuous stream of texts and calls from people.
i love that they have the F40 in the game and you can make it lemans spec like it was in the 90's where it went up against the mighty mclaren F1 and 911 GT1.

Long time NFS fan. The last one was probably the only one I missed since the first Underground. This video actually made me more interested than I was. I was going to just wait until I could get it used, play it up for a while, and then return it. Now I think I might actually just wait until it drops in price so I will be more inclined to keeping it. That is assuming it gets decent support over that time to fix issues such as the framerate dip mentioned in the video, and that it also has a decent community at that time.
