I still want KSP2 to be good and I dont care who knows!
True!
I completely agree
agreed
Everybody wanted it to be good. But some people have been on this planet for a longh time and saw the red flags immediatley. Wanting it to be good and admitting when the developers straight up lie and decieive are two different things.
KSP2 is a great game except that it is not as good as KSP1. People are negative about the development, the slow improvement and the game studio's communication. Also people are negative about having paid $50 for early access with 5 or 6 future addon's promised which now appear to not get done. I still think that I have done far worse purchases.

No elaboration required^^
Soviet Union fell
Ksp 2 and Starship also started development around the same time

@@autumnwinter3639 oh my fluttershy…
Achievable ambitions ruined by incompetence.
Didn't know that the Buran was farming equipment (plowing fields).
I didn't know Buran was an ICBM
Man, that comparison between Buran and KSP2 is simply delicious. (at least if KSP2 were really to be discontinued)
BTW, I think Buran used Sintin/LOX as OMS propellant, so maybe two Sparks would have been a better fit instead of the Puffs?
The Buran was an amazing concept. I do wish it had been finished
It was finished. It was called the "Space Shuttle"
@@user-be2md6kr1h HAHAHA funny joke (no)
@@user-be2md6kr1h The buran wasn't just a copy, it was a serious iteration on the tech. Copied or not, it was better in a number of ways.
@@jameshughes3014 Yes, nothing says "unique" like using the same bolt patterns at dimensions that look transcribed from imperial to metric units.
@@user-be2md6kr1h nah watch mustard video on buran, it was superior
Finally someone pronounced ‘Energia’ correctly!
The technology for having the US space shuttle be fully autonomous existed - but US astronauts (many drawn from the airforce) were not so willing to be "passengers" on such a vehicle.
I hope that they can redeem themselves. It has so much potential but theyre just being held back by greed
Well more like by take 2
More like the blatant FRAUD that was their E.A. Release, as Nate and the rest of the Crew at Intercept Games flat out lied about the state of KSP2 right out of the gate; so there is that...
They were not, take 2 forced them to release a unfinished game
That's what I meant guys, corporate greed
Greed? Take2 has been saints on that one, they gave them loads of time and money, accepted 3 delays. This is about the only case when I'd side for the publisher and not the developer. Can't wait to be in a couple of years when we will hear about how this train-wreck happened exactly...

Honestly, I could see NASA attempting this with a problematic payload. I'm reminded of the time two mission specialists decided to shake a satellite with the Canadarm to free its solar panels, as well as the time NASA told one of their rovers to whack itself with a shovel. Both of which worked, by the way.
So safe to say they're no strangers to blunt solutions XD
I'll be sad if KSP2 is dead, but I am confident that we will see another game like KSP become a spiritual successor at some point. Good ideas never truly die.
The performance of KSP2 is so bad, specially when launching 100+ parts. It is much worse than KSP1 which to be honest is THE ONLY THING that I really wish to be improved. Graphics are better but still KSP 1 with all graphics mods at 4K looks and specially PERFORMS better than KSP2. So yes, KSP2 has to be killed because it has been following a wrong development path since day 0
Play Juno New Origins.
@@Caleb-qr6lo KSP is much more complex and has much more flexibility than Juno
@@Caleb-qr6lo I actually made a Really Really Intricate Starship that was fully flyable and land-able, bellyflop maneuver and all. I made it capable of inflight refuel, i made the moon variant etc. if you’re interested, my craft is under the profile CobraKing1954 i could only get to my page through a comment cause my account had a comment lol.
I lost hope when Nathan found it necessary to go around telling us all how fun wobbly rockets were and how we should just get used to it. Whatever reason he had for doubling down on that idiotic premise it meant that 'providing a similar but improved game' was NOT in the agenda. I'm never giving money to an unfinished game again, ever.
@@jesusrv2009 I've been tweaking the adjustable properties of Juno's jet engines amongst other things, and my first reaction to your comment was total confusion! I haven't even started on Vizzy scripting yet. There's a reason they thought the name "Simple Rockets 2" didn't fit any more. Sure, it might be a bit too easy to build conventional rockets, but it's not completely simple. You can fail, and the rocket engines have quite a number of adjustable parameters themselves.

Good challenge idea: The Possible Challenge
The goal of the challenge is to collect as many points as possible. It is done in a fresh science mode save.
The challenge is done in 3 steps:
*1. Before the challenge begins:*
Before the challenge begins, you will need to get the settings for it. You can even choose multiple at a time. They can't be broken but they will reward you by multiplying the score at the end of the challenge. +X% means that X% of the total score will be added to it. All percentages are summed up first before applying
Hardcore mode (if you kill a Kerbal you lose all of your points, no quicksaves are allowed): +100%
Quicksaveless (already applies if Hardcore mode is active but without the additional reward for it, you CAN die, but still, no quicksaves): +30%
One ton at a time (every rocket needs to weigh at most 1000 tons): +50%
Absurd introvertism (you only have one Kerbal, if he dies, another one replaces them): +70%
Forgot the thingy (no docking allowed): +30%
*2. During the challenge*
The points are scored for landing on the celestial body and returning back to Earth. Each celestial body weighs a specific amount of points:
Eve: 280
Moho: 245
Tylo: 235
Laythe: 210
Vall: 200
Bop: 190
Pol: 175
Eeloo: 165
Dres: 155
Ike: 145
Duna: 140
Gilly: 130
Minmus: 120
The Mun: 110
Kerbin (you need to get to space, land, get to space again and land again, all within one launch): 100
The points will only be earned if a kerbal lands on the celestial body and goes back to Kerbin (a robotic spaceship doesn't count!). If the Kerbal dies on the way back after landing on the body, you will lose half of all the potential points it could've scored if the rocket would've gotten back to Kerbin, for example if you land on Vall and then crash on your way back, you will not gain the 200 points from that launch and only lose 100 points (except if you revert that).
You will also lose 35 points each time you upgrade in the tech tree.
*3. After the challenge:*
You may stop the challenge any time as long as no Kerbal is in space. The points are multiplied by the conditions you chose in the beginning. If your points are negative, you have lost the challenge.
If you are good enough you will get a medal (just a trackmania Easter egg)
🏅 2986 points (my PB)
🥇 2700 points
🥈 2400 points
🥉 2100 points
Play Juno New Origins. Maybe make it as part of an alternatives video.
It's already on the list.
I’d love to see some videos on that. It looks interesting but never seems to really have caught on on TH-cam.
Not only an alternative, but actively developed and more advanced "KSP son". 1.3 was literally a week ago. It runs at 60 FPS on my android, so can't wait to try it out with Parallax on laptop.
Nice job with the launch! I’ve always had trouble with them. It’s hard to keep the CoT under CoM. It probably helped a lot that you had engines on the main tank!
Cool! Very accurate recreation!💯👍
Except for the explosion :P
Blackrack getting fired is such a bad move by the developers. I understand maybe he had difficulties accustoming to the company culture. But with his enormous experience in alternating ksp 1 as well as the likely many things he knows about atmospheres, while also probably having a mental backlog of ideas on how to improve the visuals, they should have been more patient with him.
I like blackracks' work, even gave him sheckles but they honestly they shouldn't be making major changes to core render tech this late in the game. Freezing rendering tech and firing specialists is probably a reasonable thing to do.
Blackrack getting let go, could be simple as he did what he was hired to do. They wanted better clouds, it might not have took him that much to make it where they wanted to be.
None of the developers probably had any choice in who was laid off. These types of sudden shutdowns and layoffs happen because a random executive is “simplifying their pipeline” and “Enhancing corporate synergy”.
I have been playing KSP 1 since 0.11 and I was very excited about KSP2. Not wanting to be disappointed, I never purchased it or played it because I wanted to wait until it was truly "finished". I am now very glad I made that decision because I would have been extremely angry about the fact that the studio has been shut down/development in limbo or cancelled.
How well did the body flap wing work for you? I myself tried to make a body flap on one of my previous glider vehicles - but the fact that putting a wing behind the wing rewired what was up and down.. and invert also inverted roll. Meant that that i instead installed aero breaks to deploy at.. I think 25°
Edit: or is the body flap part of that engine plate that fit the shuttle parts?
Word of Advice: If you are overshooting the the landing site you can bank left and right - if you bank 90° you will drastically shorten your glide, at the expense of turning left or right - by alterning between banking one or the other way you can straighten the flight up.
When you fly at 40° AoA with 0° banking.. you actually extend the glide quite a lot (My experience is that the aiming marker only works on bodies with no atmosphere - because you cannot really use it to aim with on atmospheric planets - that being said I usually do my deorbit burn in the peace of ocean south of the desert - and aim my decent for the 3 island east of KSC)
Also on your glider test - I think if you had increased the size of the control surfaces you would have had an easier time keeping pitch.. I mean.. i never hit that reserve runway. The fact that its like 300m off sea level always screws me over x)
I want the KSP2 codebase to be leaked at some point so the modding community can look at really fixing it over time and not just doing patchwork.
By the way if you build something a second time but you have replaced the team, you're actually building it for the FIRST time again.
wow, and I thought I flew aircraft bad in KSP! 🤣
At first I thought my comment inspired this. I didn’t realize you had done a Buran video. I’ll have to check it out!
Yeah, 2 or 3 weeks ago, here it is: th-cam.com/video/ieqDMFfyifo/w-d-xo.html
As someone from the No Man’s Sky community, the way the fandom has been treating the new developers is really frustrating to me. The people making KSP2 are clearly passionate about the game, and so it’s in everyone’s best interest to support them during rough times
They don't understand who makes the real decisions. Grievances against them are valid, but man some people need to chill.
I'm 40 years old .NET software engineer who has been around KSP modding community for almost a decade. My opinion about the history of KSP2 development is that they followed a wrong direction from the very beginning. They had an extremely ambitious roadmap that implied to implement a KSP2 almost from scratch. They invested a massive amount of time redoing all the logic regarding planet generation, all the Art and UI. New parts models. Etc. The entire mechanism for managing resources etc. So in a nutshell, they invested a massive amount of time in reinventing a wheel that already existed called KSP1. On the other hand, they invested 0 hours in improving the weak points of KSP : performance.
From a selling point of view. What do you think would have sold better? A KSP 1 DLC with improved performance and multiplayer support or the current KSP 2?
I can't believe there still hasn't been an official statement from Nate or someone at Intercept
Did you know that the Soviets tried REALLY hard the Buran not to be like the US shuttle? They came to a same conclusion as the americans. That shape simply was the best kind for the glider.
Some say the Soviets stole the blueprints of the Shuttle, they did not..they didint need to😅 check the History of that, quite interesting!
I don't mean to be all fact checky, but everything you claim here is incorrect. The designs for the space shuttle were publicly available, and the Soviets built the buran directly from those plans, including the jet engines. Right down to the nut and bolt placement. The fact of the matter is the Buran was an American design in whole and part. Stolen (IT theft, not Spy vs Spy) from an early revision.
A booster that can put 100 tons into orbit "if the payload can do the orbital insertion" is a booster that cannot put 100 tons into orbit.
i have a question, let's say that actualy ksp2 gets canseld, then what will hapen with ksp1?
There is a theory that autonomous flight of the US Space Shuttle was deliberately given low attention. Autonomous missions would have been equally expensive as crewed ones, but without astronauts it would have been clearer to the public that NASA was spending too much money to bring satellites into orbit with the Shuttle (in many cases Altas's, Delta's or Arianes could have been used). Also without crew, the media attention would probably have dropped very quickly.
It seems the Buran was partly a show-off by the Soviets that they were capable of building a shuttle just like the Americans and in addition they could land it autonomously. One or a few flights to demonstrate that was enough even though there were strong economic reasons to stop at that time (Soviet-Union breaking up). So I think the Buran program was not as disastrous as KSP2 appears to become because the Soviets never planned for Buran to become their main space vehicle.
True, there was also an idea of space planes being able to steal enemy satellites and bringing them back and a few other things.
The wishlist for KSP2 included better performance for 1000+ part vessels. What's the verdict?
They failed successfully at that one. Not having a good performance for even 100 parts vessel. They exceeded my expectations of how bad a sequel can be.
I really am hopeful ksp2 will become a great game. (I dont know the news)
shhhh, nobody tell him.
Oh boi
Ive played KSP nearly 2000 hours and never had a good feeling avout ksp2. I wanted better performance and KSP2 delivered the opposite.
Ooof
how do you spell Colombia in Russian?
babagobi
it's just sad to see
I do want ksp 2 to succeed. I love that the kraken attacks are far and few now. It’s going to get better if development continues.
I will try to be positive today. The game really has beautiful graphics compared to KSP, I gotta say. Also the aerodynamics seems more realistic?
I hope some day I get to play KSP 2, so far im happy to just keep playing KSP 1 honestly.
The aero model to the best of anyone who's looked knowledge is a direct rip of the model from KSP1. If anything, it's like an early incarnation of KSP1's model, high amounts of drag and lift. Plus, there are loads of aeros bugs that are patched in 1.
@@RpattoYT Oh okay...
With the update of colonies and multiplayer in the game. We can expect a colonial corporate war.
Come on Nate! Dump the entire KSP2 game code on Wikileaks and make a run for a non-extradition country.
If Nate makes tracks to a non-extradition nation, it's to keep from being sued for improper use of company funds or some other allegations of the sort.
awesome
I am still playing KSP2
If KSP2 implodes, I wonder if there'll ever be an open source alternative to it...
Ahh... No "AGAIN!"...
You guys CLEARLY just don't know what EARLY ACCESS MEANS!!! lmfao (Mega Sarcasm)
I've bought early access games that improve over time and add new features regularly. This game has had little to no additions since its launch. One game mode that was already in the first game is not anything new, just a revamp. Great examples of early access games I've owned are rust, ksp 1 , minecraft in its beta , besige, battlebit ,and a few other I'm probably forgetting. Basically early access games should improve over time with regular updates adding new features and fixing bugs that pop up. In my experience Beta should be a playable game with not many huge issues stopping you from playing. Ksp 2 failed to provide regular content updates and had several game breaking issues for months after its launch. KSP 2 is early access , but is a buggy almost pre-beta levels of playability. When you get early access games imo there's always a good chance the game goes under and you Uninstall and hide the game on steam.
Haha. Yes, Early Access in the context of KSP 2 means the only access you would get. After the EA you would get no access whatsoever
@@Demontoastslayerpre-beta is generous. More like pre-alpha or maybe even technical demo. They're were still working on core rendering tech and terrain generation as of the last few dev updates.
So happy i got a refund fron steam
_Nate's KSP2 -- The Director's Edition_ will be released imho. It solves all problems and is a win for Nate, to restore his reputation, for the studio to make money and the community finally gets the game it deserves.
While there is no doubt that the EA version was a broken, performance-sucking, featureless frustrating mess, we have verified information of a better version existing: the one that Nate was playing with the dev's in 2021, which even included the last milestone of the roadmap "multiplayer" and is a lot of fun to play (so no bug-ridden, featureless slideshow of a game).
So my guess is: they get the EA version offline and release that version and hike the price -- which seems justified looking how much fun Nate had with that game. It will be a win-win-win:
- T2 can make a lot of money with such a great game priced at e.g. 70 USD
- "Lying Nate" can finally get rid of this moniker and enter history with "Nate's KSP2 - The Director's Edition" alongside "Sid Meyer's Civilization" and Ridley Scotts "Director's Cut of Blade Runner" by getting his vision of the game to us players, without pesky publisher interference
- We get the worthy successor of KSP and will have fun playing it -- including multiplayer!
Nate and the rest of Intercept Crew flat out committed FRAUD with their B.S. claims about the state of KSP2 before they even released it; and then proceed to miss Release Dates, and Patches frequently; the only way KSP2 survives is to cut that Turd Nate and the rest of his Scammers out completely. Quit Simping for Nate; as he deserves the Vitriol him and his crew are receiving.
70... 80.... 90... 100 dollars.. that's part of the problem... Over pricing hence low number of purchases. ...
I think you’re reading too much into this.
Just because they had some sort of version they could enjoy doesn’t mean it was anywhere near good enough for a public release.
They’re devs. That game could’ve been crashing every half hour, and they could’ve still been having fun. Half of the parts could’ve still been in their whitebox phase, and they would’ve still had fun.
I can almost guarantee you there isn’t some “magic version” of KSP2 that’s an incredible game with no major issues, just locked away somewhere for some inexplicable reason.
That’s not how game development works.
I’d love to be wrong, but I really wouldn’t hold my breath for it.
Hahaha. I bet 100% whatever multiplayer they had implemented performs even worse that KSP 1 with LunaMultiplayer mod. I can only imagine how bad it was given the awful performance of the standard version of the game
@@joelmulder right...there might have been some sarcasm in my post :-) just because some proof-of-concept works somehow, Nate shouldn't have announced to a lay public that it works, they have fun etc and created a (purposefully?) wrong picture of the state of affairs just to hype the game even though they must have known already that the foundation is broken beyond repair.
They tried the "fake it 'til you make it" scheme, but failed before they could "make it"
