Bonnie Hunter isn’t the only master of scrap quilts! What an amazing show of beautiful quilts! Sue, you are so knowledgeable, and your sweet, soft-spoken demeanor is like a breath of fresh air in an often frenzied world. Thank you so much for starting your channel. I predict that it will grow by leaps and bounds. Merry Christmas!
Well, what can I say! Every video you produce gets better and better! This was a brilliant idea and I thoroughly enjoyed watching. You are fast becoming a national treasure of the quilting world. Thank you so much for all your encouragement and inspiration.
Ok, it’s been 2 hrs since I watched this video and I went to the TH-cam search bar and entered “Joann Rose quilts” there are at least 3 videos by the International Quilt Museum about these quilts! I watched all 3 and I am still excited about this story, so I wanted to let those interested what I found. Sincerely, (KH)
I absolutely love your channel. You have inspired me to hand quilt my quilt tops instead of sending them to a long armer to get done. I have done one since watching your channel and getting ready to start another one. I'm not very good yet, but one day I hope to be. Thanks for sharing your quilting.
What a great gift to all of us who follow your channel, sharing part of your beautiful red and white and red and green quilts. You are truly the queen of scrap management and usage. Please think about telling us how you store your scraps. I am drowning in mine and tend to make units like 4 patches, 9 patches, flying geese and then I don't know what to do with them. And I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this. I wish you and yours a peaceful holiday and hope to see you back next year with more interesting and thought provoking works of inspiration.❤
I really enjoy your episodes. I enjoy you, your relaxed style of talking to us gently, yet your quilts are always so intricate. I love it all. My very favourites were the oak leaf applique quilt and the embroidered one. All your work (labours of love) are delightful and a joy, as are you Sue. I am grateful to see your quilt shows. Great work cameraman
Hi Sue, thanks for sharing your accomplishments. You are in a very small group of quilting TH-camrs I follow. Your calm, quiet manner of presenting what you do is a winner. Canberra, Australia
I did go to that show in NY quite by accent. Our guild went down to NY for a quilt show by a NY guild and just happen to hear about the show. Best ever show. I also love red and white quilts. I’ve made 5 and more to come. Thanks so much for sharing your work.
I also started making red and white quilts after hearing about the show. I have the catalog, which is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
The exhibit in N.Y. also encouraged my love of red and white quilts. I began quilting in 1981 and it looks like we both enjoy making traditional patterns. Your quilts are wonderful and the hand quilting is the icing on the cake 🙌🙌
Thank you for the beautiful quilt show. My sister gave me before she died a red and green log cabin quilt that is one of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen. She did not give it to her children because it did not fit their color schemes, i really feel blessed, and my daughter gave me that is wonderful, so I guess it is time I got back to quilting.
Hi Sue! I'm a quilter in Lincoln, Nebraska. I saw the Red & White quilt show at the International Quilt Museum a little over a year ago. I bought the book featuring all the quilts from the original show. It's called Red and White Quilts: Infinite Variety. I recommend it if you don't already have it. Thanks for showing us your Red & White (and Green) quilts!
I saw the Red & White quilts also in Lincoln - the show was quite overwhelming to have all those red and white colors in one place. Thank you, Sue, for sharing your quilts.
Thank you so much, from a fellow native of southeastern PA, now retired to Florida. We were just back for a visit, and my heart is still in those beautiful rolling hills. I have been so inspired by the work you share and appreciate your generous and gentle spirit. Red is not my favorite color, and I was wondering what to do with the growing stack of reds in my cupboard. Now, thanks to you, red and white nine patches are on order. Scraps are the best!
Wow❤❤what treat for us..thank you! Do you have a large family..if not you can adopt me😂May you be forever able to work on your quilts and hopefully showing to us. Merry Christmas 🎄(KH) keep these videos coming and please date/sign these beautiful quilts
Sue- I agree that one of the most charming details of your collection is the variety of techniques you have used. You didn’t only make simple design patterns or super complicated designs, but you cover a wide range to embrace the term ‘collection‘. Well done!
Oh so lovely! You are such a talent! I’ve never intentionally strived to make red&white quilts, but have ended up making quite a few. 😊Anyway, thanks so much for sharing with us! Such an inspiration. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!❤
Wow! You have such a good eye for use of color. Your piecing and quilting are wonderful. I also like to use various fabrics of the same color in the background. I think it adds movement complexity. Thank you! I also enjoyed hearing about you journey in creating red and white quilts.
Hello from New Mexico! 😉☕️ I love your beautiful quilts and thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate you and your hard work. Happy Sewing to you!! 😉🧵🪡
Absolutely beautiful! I loved the story about the red and white quilt show and your motivation to make your own. They're all wonderful and inspirational.
Sue, your Quilts are amazing. The hand Quilting is beautiful. You should be so proud of them. I hope I get to go to your red and white show in a few years.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful quilts. I was most impressed with your ting flying geese in the quilt similar to Bonnie’s Wild and Goosey. You’re an amazing quilt artist!
I think your gradual construction is the key to your success with your scrappy magic. On your small scrap pieced blocks, do you machine or hand piece? Thank you so much for the show! Cannot pick a favorite! Your narratives are wonderful! And the intro and closing photos and music are very enjoyable 😊
Hi Sue, thank you so much for sharing your quilts with us! I am so glad to watch your videos they are informative and so helpful! I wish I had found you first before I wasted so much money on rulers and such lol. Anyhow, I love your ideas and plan to start taming my scraps very soon!
Love them all, but I think my favorite one is the one with all the green! It reminds me of my favorite vintage holly leaf and berry Christmas wreath that I have out all year!
@fromsmallthings509 it was absolutely worth all the time and effort! My wreath is the thick plastic kind from the 60's! Lots of leaves going in all directions and some berry clusters sprinkled here and there.
Oh Sue, your quilts are certainly beautiful. You have a real eye for colour and working with scraps is truly your passion. I can't say which was my favourite because they are all so unique. If I HAD to pick one it would be the recent sampler. You have been a real inspiration.
Well the green and red goose quilt threw me completely. Completely into a deep dive for the pattern. And how to do paper piecing in a way that does not explode my brain. Because this is just too cool of a quilt for me not to try it over the next year with all my little bits. This will be a lot of fun if my brain doesn't explode:) Thanks for sharing your lovely red and green quilts!
Hi sue really love your videos. I'm a new quilter from Ireland. You have inspired me to hand quilt instead of machine quilt. I have done mostly hand patchwork. So trying out something diff. Now I'm like you retired I intend to make more quilts out of scraps.
So excited when I turned on TH-cam & your beautiful trunk show was the first on my feed❣️ 😃 I just love your beautiful creations & designs & the fact that they are all from scraps or small pieces of material is just amazing 🥰 Thank you for this show & Merry Christmas to you & your family ❤✝️🎄
Wow, you are amazing, your quilts are amazing and I wish I had your some of your patience. Lovely collection, I have made a couple of quilts in the past year but even after spending so much time picking out stitches, my work couldn't hold a candle to yours. ❤
