hahaha underrated comment!
Legendary comment haha
cool
0.75 speed is laps 1 and 2
Pls add the "add tons of toys over the drums"
Didn't see the "completely smashed on Heroin but still a god damn legend" Jazz drummer.
BRO.... In all my years of this here life. I serioulsy have never seen anyone try to play drums on heroin... Im trying to imagine what it would sound like, and immediately Nirvana came to mind....
I did last weekend.. for 3/4 of the gig until his dealer called to let him know his grandma was sick and needed him immediately 😂👍
@@matthewmartin9120 A good example is Gar Samuelson recording early Megadeth records my dude.
@@matthewmartin9120 Erik Sandin from NOFX was a junkie drummer for many years.
That’s more of a rock thing
I like how he is being satirical but his chops are also crazy good.
That's so true
I agree
musical sense of humour is on point
CHOOOOOPS
As a sax player who has done plenty of solos, having the drummer interact with you during your solo is actually kinda fun.
that's the point, right? 'listening'
Yeah give me that drummer every time.
as a drummer i always try to keep my soloist in mind and not just keeping the beat. it's not to make myself look better, it's to enhance the solo.
I think it elevates solos to a whole nother level
Comping :)
Holy shit, you nailed the interactive with soloist part. When you guess that shit it feels amazing and you can't stop lmao
so true lol
I smell you nephew
It’s something every jazz drummer will experience
pop pop
As not a jazz drummer, the interactive with the soloist drummers are definitely my favorite to play with 😂
As a drummer who primarily does rock, but has been trying to expand into jazz/break, I can tell you that that entry was entirely accurate.
Is that not just fusion drumming?
Same with me, I love jazz and rock
I am also 100% the rock guy all the time lmfao
That was me back when a friend of mine convinced me to join the Jazz band class at community college with precisely NO Jazz experience lol
same here, im very into funk and jazz and come from a grunge drumming background, unga bunga is my style
I love how the intro jingles get more and more dissonant as the video progresses
Someone finally noticed lol
I noticed that as well.
lol
yeah I noticed that too lmao, such a nice Easter egg
it gets really hilarious with the rock drummer intro
Am I the only one who loved the Diarrhea of the hands part
Didn't expect to see the yoyo man here
That was good shit, so dirty
I am not that drummer but I aspire to be that drummer
I loved that part. It was busy but he couldn’t make it sound non musical
No sir, you are not the only one!
*laughs in hybrid drummer*
Laughs in high schooler
Yooo it’s biggie cheese
Dave Weckl: laughs in fusion
*laughs in drum set player and marching percussionist*
Albeit I suck at set 😂
laughs in drumline captain
I am "Being Highly Interactive with the Soloist" for 100%.
same lol
I’m no soloist but I appreciate your kind. Anyone who listens to their fellow musicians AND appears to be having a good time while doing it is alright in my book.
I like you
same, it is so satisfying
I am too
Ngl highly interactive with the soloist is something most soloists actually dig
Do it to much and it's just corny. It sounds like you have to prove something and the organic feeling is gone. Communication should always be there but not in "im gonna copy what u just played, look i got ears".
The strongly relate with the rock drummer at the jazz gig. “Let’s get jazzy” lmfao
Then proceeds to smash the ride like a meathead. Pure gold.
As a rock/metal bassist, I felt that part in my duodenum. I have played jazz with guys who said I was gifted, and I have played with jazz guys (mostly academics) who would sing their preferred walking bass line to me mid song.
Once the truly terrible times outnumbered the good times, I stopped answering phone calls for jazz gigs and my life isn't missing a thing for it.
True story, the drummer shows up late for practice with a bloody rag tied around his arm. "Sorry I'm late. I got in a knife fight at the 7-11."
Did he win?
@@tsian7328 - I think so. I like to think of his 7-11 opponent as a drummer who didn't make it to rehearsal that day.
@@tsian7328 Well he made it didn't he?
@@maxalaintwo3578 that's the joke.
Plot twist: It’s an alternate script to a car crash in the Whiplash movie.
I was dying at the "Diarrhea of the Hands" one cause I actually love drummers that play like that
Me too 😂 🤫
It was actually pretty sick.
Actually picked up some licks from that part... So i'm a fan as well 🤔
As a bass player, I have very mixed feelings about it lol
@@damienm.9677 can definitely understand your feelings bro ...) Somehow they made it work altogether in Coltrane's quartet though, considering Elvin Jones' vicious playing
"But I did watch whiplash for the 27th time yesterday" gotta be my favorite part lmao
4:43 "being highly interactive with the soloit" is my favorite part... so well done! and sooo true!! :D
I am 100% the "Drumline Captain" guy.
Sup EMCprodctions! Y’all need to colab!
EMCproductions the legend is here
I was waiting for you to find this gem he’s prolly favorite drum youtubers but you know you’re still number one!
Yo its really him lol dang
Yoooo, its my boy
as the audio engineer for a Jazz club for 4 years I can say this is wildly accurate
Sounds like an epic job
I'm trying to get into that. Is it fun? Do you like it? What's it like?
@@elansleazebaganno im working with my stepdad and It is veeery fun, but some times is a lit bit stressful, but if u like It do it u will get great moments
@@juliang.1334 Thanks, man, will do
@@elansleazebaganno good luck man :D
Rock drummer playing jazz is dead on. I would know. I'm that guy.
That shift with the “Always down to double time swing.” Brought such a big smile to my face, that transition filled my afternoon with life.
He included the interact with soloist one because he's secretly hoping for his brother to come home...
Oh that's why I'd swear he is that saxophonist
Serious question, is it possible to spontaneously get off attacks like that during an improvisation section?
Drum Instructor: "I gonna have to ask you to play with only brushes"
Me: *Immediately leaves*
Thats what he did in the video haha
I got a brush from when my brother did jazz band in high school
Big facts!
That's me arriving at the rehearsal after a whole week of hard practicing the songs using sticks on my e-kit.
This man can never be copyright strike for music cuz all his shit is his and it’s smooth af
its uhhhhhh ireal pro 😅
When listening the "Drumline Captain" I was like, "yeah, you nailed it" but then the sticks in at the end I just lost it! Frikkin' perfect!
Yo man, not cool - it's not "Diarrhea of the Hands", IT'S A POLYMETRIC SYNCOPATED OSTINATO AND ITS PROGRESSIVE, O K A Y? ... JK... much love. This was awesome :)
I literally LOLed hahaha
Can I ask, why is it LOLed and not LedOL
@@datGuy0309 Because "lol" is such a common phrase that it's become its own word essentially. No one thinks of the acronym when they see the word lol anymore.
@@datGuy0309 you must have something better to do
🤣
Dude, you crack me up every time with these! But none of it would work if you weren’t such a KILLER musician. You’re bringing jazz drumming to the masses in such a fresh way. Go ahead!
Love your vids Jeff
Jeff Randall couldn’t say it better. A little cheesy some ways . That it what gives him character.
As a metal drummer the rock drummer part was super accurate😂
Definitely the last one, it always cracks me up when I see musicians interacting in a funny way in a gig.
vibin' with diarrhea hands
I don’t wanna ask
@@Max-dd4ow You don't wanna know
Same here. lol my fav one
Lol
Same
I love how the title card jingle gets more and more manic each time.
I caught that too! Hilarious 😆
It subtly gets worse until the last 2. A fantastic detail
2:55 OMG, that's literally me! Hahahahaha
I died at the rock drummer part. it's how i feel with my advanced rock kit playing beginner jazz on it.
"Don't make everything a Dilla beat." Dude, as a bass player, I howled through the whole thing. This film was easily as funny as Fred Armisen's drum-oriented comedy special. I've played with most of those guys, but never one as funny.
What movie?
@@OfficialArthusamakh it's called Standup for Drummera
Rip dilla

“This film?” It’s called a video.
"Not quite my tempo" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA hearing that gives me chills until now.
bruh interacting with a drummer during a solo is one of the greatest joys in a jazz band
zackgrooves i’ve only seen 2 of your videos but you’re already one of my favorite drum content creators. you gave me back my otherwise inexistent passion for the drums and inspired me to grind again after a long time. I hope that even if you make it big you always have time to make content like this for your subscribers. peace! 🥁
Last one my favorite aggahaha
Hopp evrencan abi
I was about to like the comment, but 69
papa rohi don’t worry , you ll be the 70th like. Btw why you scared 69 too much? You afraid that it’s going to smell and there will be no escape 🤞??
@ No I like 69 😜
Evrencan not grooves
Idk the transition to that double time swing was butter
*CLACK CLACK CLACK*
Honestly love the highly interactive with the soloist guy. Seems like he's having fun.
1:29 literally thought Mass was about to play
One of the drummers in my school's jazz band acts EXACTLY like the last one behind or away from the kit.
He's the best I've ever played with in my life and holy hell is it hilarious to watch him play.
He must be so cool to be around lol. I’d love to have that same energy
Who actually had names and faces of real people pop into their head when they saw #3
Had the "Go away" Neil Peart face pop in my mind.
actually me
Y’all should do a video together. Don’t even care what on
literally the drummer in my combo
Number 8, Nate. So many number 8s
Ouff i love this video, some of the things are actually great skills when used in right "dosage".
You play amazing Zack!!
ur vids are the most likable and genuine show offs.
too sick, love it
The other drummer in my schools Jazz Band added a cowbell to the set. So when there's a fill/solo......
THIS LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR A COWBELL
🤣 But for real though get a block too
He's a hero
Why you gotta call me out with the “being highly interactive with soloists”? XD I get way to happy when I interact with them.😂 funny stuff.
Interact w me drum daddy
same tho
The whole video I was thinking - I'm glad I'm not any of these guys. Then I get to number 10 and well... roasted.
As a bassist the last one is absolutely my favorite kind of drummer, as long as I can have a solo time
Omg the 'Highly interactive' one gave me so many memories it's just an amazing feeling when it happens naturally there is nothing than can describe how cool it feels when it happens
His rides sound so clean, my large ass one sounds so ringy and when I hit it the top to make a ting, it makes a Rusty ringy bullet sound
a lonely potato same my ride is so ringy. I hate it.
Thin rides are the way to go for me, ive got a 20 at 2025g, and an unlathed 22 at 2503g, theyre much more dynamic and do a better job that sound in comparison to the thick cymbals my friend has which are quite pingy to my ears.
Also the lack of lathing really helps control the wash, the 20 is lathed but has patina from the factory, more wash but still very dark with plenty of stick definition
its those meinl dry rides. Best jazz rides on the market, amazing stick definition.
@@will66kg91 im currently looking intro paistes dry and extra dry rides. I think they sound really cool too
he can play in every single style and it amazes me
Not much point only mastering one style, why only play one style of music when you can be a more versatile musician by playing more genres!
He says he sucks at metal drums but he’s actually not bad
Honestly, I haven't watched a video of his where he is play ska yet, otherwise he is brilliant, especially with his CHOPS!!!
@@brett-1261 He has to say that for the absolute metal purists..
No matter what genre you play, you look so gentle while doing so.
I already saw this video 20 times. Until now. Always makes my day happier ♥️
4:37 straight richard spaven groove, that was incredible fitting wish it was longer
That’s what she said
"Sorry I was late my house was set on fire"
How it feels to live in the west coast right now
Cracks me up how you capture all the nuances and quirks that tend to spring up between musicians playing together.
Discovered this channel yesterday, have been binging ever since. It's great!
4:37 so fire bru

Metronome practice a bit everyday and you'll get it ez!
Interacting with the soloist is one of the most fun experiences I've ever had 😂😂
Your playing always warms me up
Self-deprecating humor is the highest quality. I love how you and your brother highlight how ridiculous musicians can be.
"Not quite my tempo" - nice reference.
He mentions whiplash in the very next line
My new favourite drum channel! Incredible
I have had a couple solos and i absolutely love when our drummer plays off that energy
3:26 he actually has good drumline skills
The key consists of playing like the vibin' with the happiness of the interactive soloist one.
Dude. I laughed so hard at this video. Well played, Sir! Every personality. LoL
man you are fun to watch!!! you are amazing 🔥🔥🔥💯😎
:"So we're only gonna use brushes"
*Adios*
lol NOPE
I will never get over how good this guy's chops are
His dynamics are literally honey to my ears
This inspires me to keep practicing so much
Oh my god the highly interactive with the soloist resonated deep within my soul
Wow man. Serious skill. Great awareness of time! Killin it.
Bro, you seriously need to record some of those beats and just put them out there. I’d pay for an album of nothing but some of your beats to use as samples and stuff.....please sir

You are officially a gem to the drum world
Drummers we must protect this man at all costs
You must be feeling so good every day knowing that you are such a great drummer. 🥁🥳
If I ever actually learned drums I’d for sure be #10 lmao
How does he only have 66k subs?
He had 1k like 2 monthes ago
He is growing fast, check back in a couple of weeks and he’ll probably be close to 100k
666 now 🎃
You ever hear of jazz? Well, there are literally dozens of us.
Hey, the more popular the more mediocre (as a general rule), and jazz just ain't mediocre!
I hate the traditional grip snobs
Jojo mayer said if he could relearn drums with matched grip he would do it because it actually has advantages
@@t3hgir Jojo isnt a jazz drummer though
@@aidanschram9652 he's not ? Pretty sure he's cut his teeth playing jazz with trad grip
@@aidanschram9652 Jojo qualifies. He could hang with anyone on any gig.
I do a bit of both depending on what I'm playing. If I need to do quick fills or something at a fast tempo I like to use traditional
i just love the energy of this guy
“I’m a little late, my house got set on fire”
number 8 straight up just sounded like a fusion jazz drummer, i liked it
3:32 good lord the sticks in though, that really did it
so good man !! hilariuss !!! Thanks for this !!
This had me howling man. Great video!
I think he's actually so proud of himself for the double time.
The "Being Highly Interactive with the Soloist" is Kramer if he was a Jazz drummer
This is feckin´ brilliant!!!
i’ll never get tired of this one
Lul, I don't even own or know how to use the brushes, I'd get up and walk out too.
Have fun in Croatia btw!
"don't make everything a dilla beat" lmao
reminds me the good times of TH-cam, plus decent drumming. quality content, keep this sound
Man you’re too funny 😂, “sorry I’m late, my house got set on fire”, also you have some mad Jazz skills there bro!,
the dilla beat guy LMFAOO.... yeah thats me/:
4:36 YOOOO, WE NEED A TRANSCRIPTION FOR THAT PART
I'm not even a jazz drummer but I can really appreciate this.
The Rock Drummer doing jazz is just the basis of Fusion
I feel like zack actually did drumline at one point, those chops are meaty. Or well maybe he just got the Rudy's down
To answer my own comment: yeah he did, but only for HS I think.
The devilution of the jingle overtime is a true gem.
Highly interactive with the soloist 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 love your vids man
I like the interacting with the soloist and the vibed out guy the best.
