Hi im about to replace my timing belt and pump on 2017 a4 2.0 140ikw DETA engine. I will try to do it without removing front bumper. If i dont loosen up the camshaft and fuel sprockets and install the belt, is there a possibility of loosing the timing? How much perfection does this engine need? I did one on 2.4l D4 Volvo and i didn't even use Pins to secure the sprocket, just folowed the marks and it still holds 5k miles.

@@MrFujiDriver it’s recommended to loosen the cam and fuel pump but I’ve done it without.
You can always use 2 drill bits to lock the cam and fuel pump, and mark the crank. But I always insist on using the correct tools

Hi stumbled across your video looking for someone who had done this engine. I recently downloaded the Haynes manual where they talk about loosening the camshaft gear wheel bolt 90 degrees after slacking off the belt via the tensioner. It the says you need to slacken off the the small torx bolt on the camshaft gear wheel (just where your locking pin goes) 180 degrees. Next step is to Loosen the high-pressure pump gearwheel bolt (90°)….do these steps need to be taken ? If not how easy was it to fit the new belt as it wasn’t shown on your video

I just changed my cam belt at the Audi dealer without removing the bumper or radiators, for the same DETA engine A4 B9 2016. Maybe they have new methods and tools. I removed the top plastic cover to make sure they installed the new belt and it's legit. Even gave me back the old belt, tensioner and water pump that matches the production year of the car.

Quick question. On Audi B8 the camshaft and fuel pump both have sets of 3 bolts on them which you have to loosen prior to tensioning the belt. On B9’s that’s non existent and I’m confused as to how to address this. My car is just sitting with front end stripped because I couldn’t find any info about this. Does this means you no longer loosen the camshaft and fuel pump on these?

    • @owensautotips
