    Nice one , just what TH-cam needs, basic lessons for the beginner bass are such mystical fish they have brought me years of joy (and frustration) love them! Please make sure to put them back when possible, and maybe our future fishermen can enjoy them too, Thanks

    Please add in your video unhooking techniques and tools and maybe closing two of the barbs on treble hooks or changing to singles, I've lure fished for bass for 25 years and I've seen some heart breaking treatment of these wonderful fish ,and if the newbies to this incredible sport start with the right mindset it's great for all of us, love the channel and your obvious passion👍

      Thanks Keith yes that should be covered in round two ! One thing we were talking about the other day was it would help if lure manufacturers offered a single hooked or de barbed version of their lures.

      It's actually heartening to see so many newer generation anglers with a more solid attitude towards conservation than when I was younger. The average Joe had a more rough n' ready approach and didn't have a wealth of information at their fingertips. Much better to use a good single barbless, than a mini grappling hook from hell.

      Yeah, I’ve fished for bass specifically since my childhood, mostly ledgered bait, but sometimes free lining with live sandeel when I could get them. I’m in my sixties now and want to get into lure fishing. I was shocked when I learned that these beautiful fish can live to 20 or even 30 years and don’t reach breeding maturity until they are about 40cm (slightly less for males). It upset me that fish I was keeping for the pan were probably immature. That was many years ago before I knew anything about size limits (not even sure they were a thing back then). Anyway since I found this out by far the majority of my bass have been returned to the sea. I sincerely hope people stick to the size and number limits these days. Important that new anglers learn about the fish they catch.

    When it comes to bass I think you are right about colours, I mostly go trolling for bass and its more about the vibration and the movement of the lure that intices the bass to hit the lure the more shaking vibrating of the top of the rod the better the lure, rapala has some great bass lures like husky jerk, x rap, max rap.

      Gi George. A sealed reel - real top end stuff can be dunked in saltwater and it doesn't get in to the gearing part. Some reels are so good though they can survive some dunks .Lossen off the drag, Wash with fresh water after every trip. This is more of a reminder for myself though.

I guess everybody knows what works for them, & with their marks. I know we can’t compare Florida to England but I’ve had a lot of success with the “flair hawk” type lures. I'm off on me hols down to Beer and Seaton in early June....In my research for lure fishing, I've just seen your later videos.
    Basically, I just lure fish for Perch and Pike on rivers every session (an obsession since the '70's when a young kid).....
    Never fished lures off a beach before, but it looks like my 10-40g rod, 16lb braid, 2500 reel and flouro leader should do OK I assume ? Light Pike gear, which is similar to what I use on rivers but substituting the wire trace...
    Watching three of you videos in a row has answered many questions in my mind....As for lures, I have hundreds that will suffice....
    Roll on June methinks....

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well where’s the fun in that ! It’s really hard to incorporate all the variables in to why a bass takes. For instance I have a bias towards the lures that caught the one off bigger fish, but it may of been the way I retrieved or the any number of other reasons. I think as with most things the more experienced one gets the more refined and minimal our choices. I also don’t do well with white overall but had an awesome session once where they only took white !
      I’ll be trialing some more theory’s this year about colour , I’m not sure at night if small changes matter just dark, light and middle of spectrum maybe ? Thanks for your input 👏
