This is by no means trying to outdo the work of the voice actor from the remake, but serves to show what could’ve been had they created Ada Wong closer to her original counterpart from Resident Evil 4. I added Ada Wong from the original Resident 4 Remake into her original voice actor for the remake, and this is by no means saying one is better than the other, since that is for you to decide ❤️

But tbh the latter fits the story better, considering how she's constantly betraying people and questioning her loyalties and decisions and has seen so much death and terror caused by the system she has been trapped in. We all know there are no "good guys" and "bad guys," really. The US government was behind Umbrella the whole time and decided to nuke an entire city to cover it up. New Ada's nihilism and coldness and self loathing perfectly matches our current eras self awareness and desire for the end.

The irony is that the old voice acting wouldn't even match the new RE4R, but the delivery of the new one is just so bad, you also can't take it seriously and it's not even that the voice itself is bad. Not sure if it's her voice that has a nasal quality or if the audio was just straight garbage (not in the video but for the game) - it seems like her lines have an echoing quality in my opinion. Regardless of possible poor audio my biggest issue is she was just flat. This could also be the fault of a poor voice director. To be brutally honest 4's Remake dialog is all kinda poorly delivered; Ada's performance just stands out the most but none of them were particularly great. Remake Leon botched the bingo line. It was charming in the original and bordered comedy - the remake giving it a serious, and very dull quality. This very well could also be the fault of the voice director.

If there’s one thing the new Seperate Ways expansion got right, it was making Ada a fleshed out character. Notice how everyone talked about how much they hated her voice when the Remake first came out. But by the time the DLC came out, people came around to liking the new Ada. I genuinely think she was better written and gave her some good dialogue as opposed to the base game.

Fun fact: VAs don't have the scene in front of them like they would in a movie, they only have the script and a general context (and the audio of course if it's not from their country). So it's not the VA's fault, but the "script writer" (idk the actual name of the figure who does this) to give her a shitty witten script with not enough context

Because there is a director for the VA or maybe the VA just wasn't that talented to get the right voice for the context. In fact we both could be wrong, because neither of us knows the story behind the scenes on why the VA sucks so much in the game. Don't bring technicalities to a joke if you don't want those technicalities thrown back at you.

If i'm wrong, it means that i can grow from it and get more knowledge. Also, i actually really like the VAs in the game. From what i've seen, people tend to exaggerate it and blame the VA herself (in this case).
When something about this occurs, people shouldn't be angry at the voice, but who guides "the voices" and chooses the takes to put in the game.

@@mirko-_- just chalk full of excuses for the VA aren't you? If the VA really cared about the part she would've looked at earlier source material to see how Ada is portrayed. If it was the director then the director messed up and should be blamed. But saying not to blame the VA is like saying not to blame a waiter for the wrong order. So yeah, if I don't like what the VA does I'm gonna blame the VA, because the VA is the one doing the job and it's the VA's job to not sound plain or bored unless there's evidence that suggests that it isn't the VA's fault like experience.
@Master_Yoda1990 The only thing the VA has to do is to give their voice to a character. It's the director's fault PERIOD. A voice actor is called because their voice fits the character, not because they love the thing their voice acting. VAs can't say "you're not giving enough contex" if they don't have the full contex. The only reference they probably have is the original VA, so it's probably japanese, and Japanese is a difficult language to voice act over because japanese is a totally different language from english (in sense it has different tones and stuff). It's also the director to choose what recording gets into the game, if she did better ones (which we don't know) the director chose the ones in which "she sounds bored". Also, just because it's the VA to give a voice to a character doesn't mean you have to blame the VA because just because it's the easiest to blame, they did their job: give a character a voice with the given contex (even if it's wrong, because it's not the VA's job to check if the context is correct). It's like blaming the writer of a book because he did a lot of grammatical mistakes when the book is translated from another language.It's not the author's fault, it's the translator/adapter's fault. It's not the VA's fault, it's the director's fault

First one makes everyone act up, and she really fitted the character, atleast the dialogs work fine for her, but the new one is horrendous. Give her new voice lines or something, the new one isn't talented, it's not seriousness, its like a person doing voice acting for the sake of it. Like I'm surprised they kept the laser dodging scene in the remake with how realistic they were trying to go everything. They made Leon less superhuman along with Ada being relatively less compared to her OG. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they take away the iconic Chris punching a boulder from 5 if they remake it. Although they might not because apparently resident evil 5 is racist.

Before anyone is confused, you still need to put in work to make a character sound bored, rather than actually be bored. The voice needs to sit in the mix with the rest of the sounds, and that REQUIRES you to not be boring while voice acting a bored character. A "bored" character still uses a dramatized/altered voice.

The new ones feel more realistic and don’t really take me out of the game. They aren’t as interesting obviously, but it makes more sense imo
