Couple times I found myself in a situation like this they had a policy where they don’t contact you afterwards. And of course, I always think the worst so it kind of stinks. But I agree it’s nice. They told him to come and meet with them to release it. I’m sorry to release Roger.

No it is a very bad sign if a wild bird is that timidin response to humans. That means he is in really bad shape and is hurting thats why he can not resist and defend himself he has not the energy left to do so. At first i thought like you guys but after watching a couple of videos from a famous amercian bird rehabilitator where he explained exactly that I learned the true reason behind the timid behaviour.

When I was in college, I came home one night and heard screeches as I was at the door of my 2nd floor apartment. I turned around to see two of these barred owls staring at me from a tree just across from my floor. Being that I was studying zoology, I had to learn more. They're so beautiful and, like their relative the spotted owl, are quite tame if you get your hands on them, as "Roger" was. I hope he is doing well, wherever he is.

I'm crying like harmful the other commenter's are too! What a fantastic story! I'm so glad you found Roger, saved him, then got to see him released back into the wild. I helped save an owl years ago, but never got to see him again after giving him to the wild bird rescue. ❤

I know it's silly but it made me get a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Thank you for finding him and being a console and doing the right thing I often wonder where people's hearts are at these days and it's good to know that there's people out there that will take the time to care for something that needs it. Thank you again and may God bless your life! ️ ❤️ ️

I wish animals had a better understanding of when they're being helped and things of the sort, would make saving them feel that much better than it already does

Did he try to peck bite and claw then any chance he had? No.. I think he knew.. Still cautious like when someone you do Dont trust tells you it will be fine but still think he got they where not trying to hurt him

you can kinda tell with some smarter animals that they know. though they may not be able to fully override instinctive fear, and of course in a lot of times they don't actually know that they're being helped, but rather just freeze out of fear, which is a standard response for a lot of animals when they can't get away and don't think that they could easily win a fight.

The act of helping a helpless animal should be enough of a warm good feeling.. doesn't matter if the animal realised or not ro me atleast

@@tommyvercetti891 Couldn't agree more. Although I'm certain animals have a good instinct that they're being helped.

It’s like he knew he was being helped or he just felt hopeless in that moment. Either way I thanks to everyone involved Hes back where he belongs. The dodo has motivated me to help animals in need and that’s why I have my babies. My cat and dog. They were adopted off the streets and are very loved
