Sorry if I sound like an idiot but you have no idea what this means to me! I’ve waited almost 30 years to play 3 player co-op Sonic with both my little brothers with as Sonic, one do them as Taiks and one of them as Knuckles! Last time I saw Sonic classic heroes it didn’t have this feature! Thanks so much!
That is possible, but what I couldn't tell you is how good the experience is, since it depends a lot on how good everyone's internet connection is. There are 3 main ways you could do it. The easiest way is with any Genesis emulator and using the software Parsec, which is similar to the program Team Viewer, except for gaming. While it is the easiest to set up, it's not what I use for netplay whenever there is a different option. The second easiest choice is the netplay feature in the emulator Kega Fusion. There is nothing really wrong with this choice, and I mainly don't use it only because I can't record gameplay as easily with it. What I used for this video was the emulator Mednafen, which allows you to either host a game yourself, or connect to a game server. This one can be a little more difficult to set up. Hopefully one of those options works for you.

Couldn't say much about it, since this is the first time I heard about it. I don't see any indication there is a Chaotix style mode, though. I don't think Sonic Mania had an online mode, but Parsec could work for that.

The last option is still Mednafen, which involves connecting to a server, although I can't say if the location of the servers would work for everyone.

i used mednafen with my 2 friends and only one of them could move, the third player's inputs werent working
Did you enable the multitap? The Genesis doesn't have three controller ports without it.
Is this really 3 player co op online
Since it's just a regular Genesis game, it works with any Genesis emulator that has a netplay feature.
