It sucks that Namco Museum for the Nintendo Switch only has the Japanese 2-player version besides the US 4-player version. I hope that Bandai Namco will try to re-release the US version of the arcade game on home consoles including the Nintendo Switch

The order of the player colors p1 Red, p2 Blue, p3 Yellow, p4 Green reminds me of Super Smash Bros.
Shooting each other at the end of the round is like jumping through boss doors in Mega Man: it's not necessary but you cannot resist it.

What did you run this on? I used to run netplay using Kaillera, but it only supports the two-player version of Tank Force. I'm wondering 'cause MAMEHub requires open ports, and that's not feasible sometimes.
I used MAME++ 0.132. It's not as well known as MAME++ 0.119, but it has the 4 player version of Tank Force, since it's newer. Keep in mind that you can save and load states through netplay on that version, so you can recover your game if something happens. www.mediafire.com/file/4ppc55rvyvqzqw4/mameppk_bin_vc-0.134-20090914.7z
Here is a link for MAME++ 0.134, which should also work for this game. You will need to add the Kaillera client to the same folder as the exe.
Wow! I didn't know they had a version greater than MAME++ higher than 0.119. Thanks; I managed to find a copy from some random archive online.
The newest version of MAME++ that I know of is 0.164. I think 0.134 is the last version to work properly online. The newer ones are all super laggy on netplay.

I spotted that it's impossible to add coins(lives) when you are on the level already. You may only do that on the first start screen)) It's weird =) Do you have the same situation?
I didn't remember this, but looking into it again, it does look like there is something wrong with adding credits in this game. In this video, at the final boss, I noticed that player 3 seemed to have some difficulty joining the game after using all of his credits, but I'm not completely sure what was done to get him back into the game. Note that pressing 9 on the keyboard always adds credits to player 1, even when the regular credit button isn't working.
If you are having a problem with this, you could go into the service mode and use the numpad to turn on free play, so you don't have to worry about credits.
it seems to fail when you config more than one function in the same button .... I tried to play the game using all tanks with one control and the same shot button and I immediatly found the coin switches started to fail.... then I added different shot buttons to the different tanks and the credits never failed again.. I think this could be the possible reason. Now I'm making an exclusive arcade cabinet for this lovely game :) I hope this bug won't become a problem... if you discover any other reason causing this bug or a definitive solution, please tell me here =J

+Jordan Joe Nonalaya You would need to have a version of MAME up to at least version 0.132 and also the 4p version of the rom. On the newest versions of MAME, it is called "tankfrce4.zip". On older versions of MAME such as 0.132, it is called "tankfrc4.zip".

This is MAME++ 0.134, which can play this game online. I think that you would need to get a copy of kailleraclient.dll to place in the folder with this .exe file, so that you can play online.
What emulator do I need for 4 players? And where do I download it?
Any relatively recent version of MAME should be able to play this, which you can find on the official MAME site. You would also need the 4p version of the game, which you can find by looking for "tankfrce4.zip". You may also need the single player version as well for the 4p version to work, which is called "tankfrce.zip".
