Barry did such a good job with these, because this is NOT what happens....and yet EXACTLY what happens all at the same time lol.
Barry failed to mention the reveal that Xemnas lied to the Organization in Dream Drop and that nobodies actually *DO* grow hearts back over time
So in 3, when we see aqua in the dark realm she has the yellow eyes, but she was never norted. We also see that xehanort used to have silver eyes as a kid. This means that yellow eyes is just a sign of darkness existing in someone since all the heartless have yellow eyes
SPOILERS: people like to make fun of 358/2 days title but it actually has a meaning. Days gameplay takes place over the 358 days roxas was a member of organization XIII but he wasn't actually conscious for all of that time those days are split (in both story and gameplay) between roxas and xion. So the title 358/2 days is the 358 days split/divided between two people. Now justifying birth by sleep 0.2 a fragmentary passage.... i got nothing lol thats a dumb title.
And with the last week of his summer vacation, Roxas (originally) lived for exactly one year.

He did gloss over the most important plot point for Kingdom Hearts 3: Donald outs himself as the most powerful wizard in all of Square Enix' games, using a spell that only two other people manged to use while possessed by world-ending monstrosities. Except Donald wasn't possessed or anything, he just whipped that thing out like it was nothing and conjugated an important antagonist into the past tense. And all it did to him was it tired him out a bit. In the recent Ducktales cartoon Donald at one point declares "I am the storm", _and he absolutely delivers here._

Yet that goddamn duck was absolutely incapable of healing me when I needed it the most. Powerful wizard my a$$. The true villain in this series has been Donald all along.
That's pretty cool, but the issue is that Donald didn't try Zettaflare in any of the other extremely desperate situations in which we've seen him. Some foreshadowing of this ability in those previous situations (even just a few throwaway lines in the vein of "Say, Donald, why don't you use--" "No! It's too dangerous!") would have helped.

Honestly it’s like JoJos Bizarre Adventure, It won’t make sense just having someone explain it to you.
You have to get into the nitty gritty and then everything makes sense, like a switch being turned on.
The Sleeping Realm theory is that _most_ of Kingdom Hearts III takes place in the Sleeping Realms (which is _not_ the same thing as it 'just being a dream') - basically, darkness is 'fated' to win (which we see in the game - '"And so, darkness prevailed, and light expired"), so Sora can only win by fighting in the Sleeping Realm (where Kingdom Hearts 3D takes place, for reference). This raises a lot of questions, but trust me - read the theory, it all makes sense. There's evidence in cutscenes. There's evidence in gameplay. There's evidence in summons. There is a distressing amount of plausibility established.
And the most terrifying thing, is that _if_ it's real, it'll all get _explained_ in the games at some point. I shudder to think how confusing that explanation will be.
I think the reason none of the chests are actually locked is because it would require keys that would then be consumed like Silver Keys from Legend of Zelda, and Sora breaking keys on a regular basis as if he didn't understand how to use them properly - while being the _wielder of a key blade_ - would be absurd even by Kingdom Heart standards.

KH4 appears to be some kind of world post death? Lauriam's (Lauriam is Marluxia) sister that was a keyblade wielder in Union Cross is there too so... yeah

Sincenits not directly addressed ill just spill the beans. The nobody's having hearts thing was a retcon that got revealed near the final moments of dream drop distance where Xemnas (the main honcho Nobody) reveals to Sora that when a nobody is created they have no heart but can "regrow" a heart over time. But he lied to all of his organization members telling them that they don't have hearts at all and are just husks of who they used to be in order to manipulate them into joining his cause. So the old info about nobody's have hearts is still true but its only a temporary thing after the retcon
To add to the Verum rex/FF versus XIII confusion. Squenix new game REYNATIS also looks like the world very similar to both of those and the protagonist all look identical and REYNATIS crosses over with TWEWY which KH DDD also crossed over with.... idk whats going on but im excited lol

Kingdom hearts story is only confusing if you listen to it explained lol if you play the games it makes sense just fine. Most people who complain about it just dont/haven't played all the games lol
50:10 yes nobodys can develop hearts, they have memories wich gives them the ability to fake emotions, but under the right circunstances (power of friendship) they can gain a heart that's what happened to roxas, xion and axel
Ok so this is gonna sound weird. But yoy can only send your heart through time and it can only go to places where you have a physical version of yourself and when your heart returns to its designated time you forget everything you did.
When xehanort made ansem and xemnas his heart was sent back in time to tell his past self of his destiny and then Ansem waited on that island for decades for sora to be born.
If you try to send your body through time it doesn't last, thats why most of the characters from DDD started phasing out of existence as they were sent back in time.
In 3 they created replica bodies that the time travelers could put their hearts into so that they wouldn't be sent back in time unless the bodies were destroyed.

Kairi is literally one of the most important characters in kingdom hearts lore wise. But in the games she doesn't do anything until the end of 1, then the end of 2. And then doesnt do anything again until the dlc of 3

Kairi had a keyblade since the final phase of KH2. Riku gave it to her.
Again, no agency for Kairi--rather than earn a Keyblade, someone just hands it to her. Where did Riku get that one? Did he just have it on him the whole time? What did Kairi do to prove herself worthy of that Keyblade? Nothing, because they don't let Kairi do anything by herself. The way they shafted Kairi as a character infuriates me.

The reason Xion is a girl is bc she was made out of Sora's memories of Kairi. Also her name is an anagram of No. i with an X in it. That was her rank in organization, because she was a replica and not even a person's actual nobody (she was made with Vexen's research like the Replica Riku from Chain of Memories).
So that's why! Is that ever explained in game? I never got past kh2 so I didn't even have the chance to meet her I think.
@@TheLegitWeebs I think it's mentioned in 358/2 days. I /think/ but am not sure, since it's been a bit since I played it. the no i part is just putting pieces together, since you hear her rank in that 358/2 days and you know how organization names work, so put two and two together, and... Xion.
Check out Just a Pancake and his Kingdom Hearts, stuff. He even has a composite video of all his KH in a Nutshells combined into a super video. Its less than half an hour. Amd they are put in chronological order, too.

39:00 yeah, i only consider myself a fan because i like the implied gay/bi and polycule relations of some characters, and for better or worse KH2 gameplay its on par with dmc i guess "niceness" or like "feel" so im a little sad they couldn't make the same for kh3
Tbh i like 3's combat more. 2's combat is tighter and drive forms are great but keyblade transformations i have so much more fun with and it gives a reason to use different keychains and not just swap to the one with the best stats. 3 is the only game i would say its worth grinding for the ultima lol and its so much fun to use

Kairi is a terrible excuse of a plot device. I have seen plot devices with more personality than her and I despise her for that. She could have been so much as a Princess of Hearts AND a keyblade wielder. I'll never get over the scene in KH2 when she tried to save Sora and heroically jumped down at least 2 or 3 floors and immediately had to be rescued AGAIN. I swear, she only has that keyblade as a fancy acessory.
Its Nomura writing but nobody gives FF7 mess of a story any criticism.
Kairi is a very pivotal character, just not as a combatant. She is feminine, which is jarring in this girlboss era. Being badass is cool but most women are not badass, not inclined to physical combat, and are valued for being supportive and caring.
Also hearing this absolutely dorkish voice call a character "milk toast" despite never playing the game is something.
