Thanks bro. This was a life saver. Dealership wanted to charge me $800 to change my driver side mirror. $500 for the mirror and $299 for labor. I ordered the part from 1AAuto.com for $165 total with free shipping. Changed the part out in 1 hour. Looks like the dealership was going to charge me for two hours and they do this all the time. Crooks. Had to buy a tool to help pry the clips loose for $12.99. Total savings of $621.00. On cloud nine.

Just a quick heads up to everyone to be very careful when re-attaching your new mirror and replacing the bolts that attach the panel to the door - if you drop any of the nuts or bolts down into the metal cavity of the door you'll never see them again! Luckily I just happened to have a replacement nut that fit laying around so I didn't have to make a trip to the hardware store. Great video and great product!! I just finished installing my replacement passenger side mirror in less than an hour. Everything is now working perfectly. I'll definitely be getting all my replacement parts from 1A Auto from now on! Thanks!

For anybody tackling this job. You don’t need to completely remove the door panel so that way you don’t have to mess with the doorhandle cable. You can just kind of swing it out of the way enough and maybe hold it with a bungee cord so you can get to the wiring and the bolts for the mirror. And if you’re doing this job alone, it’s also easier to do it with the window down. That way you can reach your hand out and hold onto the mirror while you’re loosening the bolts and also while you’re reinstalling in the mirror.
Great video; A couple of notes in addition to Peter's comments below: 1. I did not disconnect the battery cable because I wanted to test the mirror operation before reassembling the door panel; 2. No need to disconnect the door handle cable; there was enough room to work without removing it; 3. The mirror I ordered matched exactly, except there were no white clips taped to the cable. I didn't see this as a big deal, and I did not remove or re-attach the original clips to the new mirror's cable. I really appreciate the video; it made the process as easy as it could have been.
My mirror came with a small ziplock bag containing 3 zip ties with plastic clips. These were intended to replace the white clips that were taped to the cable on the original mirror and they worked perfectly. Are you sure you didn't miss these replacement clips at the bottom of the box when you unpacked your mirror?
This video was very helpful to me when I needed to replace my broken mirror. I saved a lot of money doing it myself with the help of this video. Thanks for taking the time to produce it.
A few additional pieces of advice. Use masking tape to keep the 10 mm j-nuts from rotating before you reinstall the door. They sometimes get loose - in my case 2 out of 3 - and they rotate out of position by the time you get the door on. Don't be surprised if 1 or more of the clips for the door or the inside mirror trim panel are broken. My mirror was replaced years ago by the dealership under warranty and a clip on the panel and a clip on the door were broken. Count your wire harnesses as you take them off. There may be unused sockets on the switch plate - much worry during reinstallation! Last item it may help to lower the window before starting. This makes it easier to hold onto the mirror and gives a better angle to reinstalling the door near the window gasket. Otherwise a great video, GREAT confidence builder.

I just wanted to give a heartfelt thank you for amazing service. I inquired at every part store locally (ontario canada) for a part for my aging truck and was unable to find anything. After being sold the wrong part locally, and trying to remedy an order I was told that I'd only be able to find the part at a wrecker (yeah... good luck...). The only place I could find anything online was US manufactures and I almost gave up before I tried your site. I've used your videos many times in the past to fix my 2010 silverado, and they've always done the trick perfectly. I had been skeptical when I found a seemingly acceptable replacement part on your website and was pretty excited when it showed that you guys would ship to Canada. 9 days later (4 days ahead of schedule), you guys managed to deliver the requested part, I installed it in my vehicle (using your video tutorial) and it works perfectly. I can't thank you enough for all of your help and great service. I'll be recommending your products/services to my friends and family. Happy new year!
Great help, I was able to change the mirror out in just under 40 minutes. I was nervous popping the panel off the door - thought I'd break something but it went really smooth. After I was done, I couldn't believe how easy it was. The dealer wanted $180 just for labor.

I installed a new passenger side mirror with the blindspot, heated and power folding memory...and I cannot get the blindspot light to work. Where is the sensor for this blindspot? Only thing I didn't do is unhook the battery first, would this cause this function not to work? Or is the mirror faulty?
And get again, GM really made a easy job tough. I replaced towing mirrors on my 2001 Chevy Silverado with standard mirrors. The harness was right there and there wasn't any need to pull the door panel off. For Christ's sake. Make it simple again. Thanks for the info. You have showed me that I'll just take it to the shop.

As a guy who has a background in wiring electrical things, wouldn't it be easy just to install the new mirror and cut/splice all the wiring for the new mirror? That way you would not have to access the controls, thus you wouldn't have to remove the door panel. This would make an hour job only 10 minutes. I believe all you would have to remove would be the small triangle panel right?

What is the difference from a 2005 denali?
Hey I have an 07 Escalade. I want to keep the plastic black and chrome mirror housing. Can I just buy the replacement mirror assembly and swap motor and gear? Just curious. Thanks!
+Quentin Qualls Thank you for checking us out. This is possible, however a lot of disassembling will be required. 1aauto.com
What is the part number for this mirror? Looking to replace mine this weekend. Thanks for the video post. Once I have the number I'll get the part from your website.
+Jason Thompson Sorry for the slow response Jason, we just noticed this question. Here's a link to them on our website. Have a great day! www.1aauto.com/mirror-pair-paint-to-match/i/1amrp01142?TH-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony

I also want to replace door guards on 2009 Silverado extended cab . they are not white anymore, on a white truck. I want them black . 56k miles. can I get them there??
Why would you unhook the battery instead of just pulling the fuse?
Thanks bro,,
It's very useful video.
The "in and out" stopped working on my driver's side mirror. Does the whole thing need to be replaced or is there a motor inside?
I would say the switch could be going bad
Perfect....thanks...

And, for those who are LUCKY ENOUGH to have a Silverado 2500HD or 3500HD with the LTZ package AND MANUAL WINDOWS, LOCKS AND MIRRORS...you can forget ALL THIS DOOR BOLSTER INSANITY...and just watch the interior 'triangle removal' at the 2:00-minute mark...then simply unbolt the three mirror bolts! Yes...I put tow mirrors on my 1-ton LTZ in about 3-minutes per side...because electronic STUPIDITY did not infest my TRUCK at the factory!!!
great Video
I bet you can do it without removing the door panel, that harness should have a clip on the mirror side too.b
Excellent
Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com +Miguel Garcia
Why do you remove the battery cable?
Justin A Hi Justin, it's just for precaution. That way your battery won't drain in case you find yourself working longer than expected
Thank you so much
Don't the power mirrors need to be reprogrammed?
Is anyone not seeing he is working on the wrong door at 3:44 -4:10 mark
You needed to show how to reconnect the piece that you took apart at 4:00 which didn't look easy.
+Chuck Van They just pop right back in. They're easier to put together than to take apart. The difficulty you saw there was trying to keep the water shield from ripping, at the same time as not wanting to break the little plastic piece he was removing. Thanks for checking out our videos!
