The very technique used by the corporations and institutions, to steel skill and knowledge from the common people, brand it sell to the new generation people who are deprived of the traditional life hacks. I am scared how it all will culminate once the current education itself getting digital. Our grand child is going to know that milk comes from TATA vending machine ?

Tamul paan is a traditional practise among the Assamese society of Assam. We offer tamul paan to our God & Goddesses when we offer prayers in Mandirs & Naamghars. And as a mark of respect, we also offer tamul ,paan & edible lime paste after tea & snacks, lunch & dinner to guests who visit our residence. Thank you very much Sadhguru ji for the importance of tamul & paan in our lives.

For this importance of paan supari in Assam among Assamese people, the name of the city Guwahati originated. It was originally Pragjyotishpur in ancient times for its Navagraha temple and the practice of astrology. It was a very famous city in old days as it is now in present day.Guwa means betel nut and there is paanbazar in Guwahati. We the North Eastern people in India plant the betel nut trees along with betel leaf creeper in our kitchen garden.

With due respect to Sathguru's spiritual aspect, some science behind: we know that insulin secretes in pancreas and the role of insulin (To ensure that sugar from nutrients in food is correctly used or stored in the body) . What most of us probably would not know is , which mineral consumption helps or enhances the better secretion of insulin? It is Chromium. Chromium is present naturally in many foods but in very tiny amount. Betel Leaf and arecanut has good source of Chromium. Hence our culture suggests/recommends to have vethala paaku post feast or heavy meal to enhance insulin secretion. Our food practice was architected in such a way to pave way for preventive care.

Betal leaf packed with differnet combination of items is called a Beeda. Even in North India, when someone from a Hindu martial family is challenged and someone from the family accepts the challenge, they pick up a beeda from the plate. That is the reason it is called "Beeda Uthana" (this literally means 'taking responsibility').

🇵🇬In Papua New Guinea we chew betel. We usually use the "betel pepper" leafs seed, called Mustard with Betelnut and lime. Lime processed either from certain type of Coral stones or clam shells. The betel leaf is used only when there is a shortage of the mustard seed. Together these three elements make up a red byproduct when chewed. Heavy users usually have blackened teeth from too much chewing.

Yes, and that is what Sadhguru clarified in the video that they are not the same plant but since they are consumed together, the English started calling the both as betel leaf and nut.

    • @angeloiodice9304
      @angeloiodice9304 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, the nut is Areca. Often in Southeast Asia, they add lime stone powder. 100’s of different recipes, according to the local customs. Habitual use is extremely addictive. People enjoy the strengthening effects, and mental and emotional highs. I once did also. It was ruining my teeth and gums. Some good friends who use betel have lost their teeth, gums bleed, turn blood red, purple and black. Many get oral and throat cancer. It is the fourth most consumed stimulant in the world after caffeine, nicotine and alcohol.
Maybe the leaf alone is safe. But, it is almost always combined with the nut, an alkaloid and possibly spice, herbs, chilies.
Weary and exhausted people working under the intense sun in manual labor depend on it to keep going. It creates euphoria and concentration and allows one to maintain a pleasant high all day with a nice powerful initiative. It is a lovely feeling. I loved it for awhile, but had to stop. Hurt my teeth and gums.
In Southeast Asia in dental offices, they have posters with photographs of oral cancer from betel nut chewing. After seeing the posters and photographs and rising dental bills, I decided the risk/reward was askew. Returned to tea and coffee and some other herbs and spices to stimulate my nervous system and keep me more productive and pleasant.

I sometimes think.... these people must think Im crazy! In this scenario where I have believed this, i asked 13 people separately and directly, 'Do you think im crazy?' They all said 'No (flat out).' My awareness is amplifying due to a sedative decrease. My life is tremendously improving and developing due to this increase of energy and BALANCE. The balance gives me leverage to become intelligent (clever specifically) and creative! But... social ability is the only place I fall and fall to significant levels because I am autistic and not born with these abilities. It also appears that as my awareness amplifies - I can use spatial awareness to rectify my social problem to a 99%-100% solution. This gift although I need to develop this through further increasing awareness seems to be a unique ability. To achieve this it has to and can only be done in a very particular way. Otherwise it is simply not possible!

In Southeast Asia it is used rampantly as a stimulant. It is the fourth highest addictive substance behind alcohol, tobacco and caffeine. It surely spikes perception and energy. However, those partaking in chewing it lose their teeth, have bleeding, red, purple snd black gums, snd an extremely high incidence of throat and oral cancer. Across Asia it is prepared differently, according to the local customs. I have chewed it in the past and enjoyed the narcotic effects which can range from mild to raging, but after being admonished by dentists, I stopped, especially after breaking my teeth chomping on the nut. I believe the nut is called betel nut but 8n reality it is areca. Often they add a pinch of mineral lime to the combination. Not the citrus fruit, lime, but the white alkaline substance used in gardening and cement.
Possibly Sadhguru is talking about a less commercialized product. Because every region seems to have a different combination recipe.

@@TimePlaysLifePasses Usually the leaf is wrapped around the nut with mineral lime paste or herbs, spices, Chilis.
The caption says betel nut. Maybe that is just clickbait.
Betel nut and leaf is used extensively throughout Southeast Asia.
I am surreal Sadhguru’s explanation and use is healthy, just by who he is.
But, in Southeast Asia, possibly improperly used and composed, it is widely known as a very, very dangerous and disgusting habit.
The intention of using it is quite laudable, a pleasant, pain free focus all day long to perform manual labor under the harshest heat conditions, followed by plenty of water.
But, the mouths of so many people become cancerous and bleeding and tooth decay.
Like I said, there are many preparations. But, we are talking of the same herb. I am sure that Sadhguru is suggesting usage in a very satvic way.
In medicine it is used occasionally for dispelling worms and for malaria. It has the power of drawing downward.
I have used the leaf wrapped around the nut with a lather of lime paste. It is quite powerful and promotes fearlessness. It freshens your breath to that of a beautiful tropical green rainforest.
Then again, preparation is extremely important. The effect varies from vendor to vendor.
Surely the leaf by itself might be healthier. But the title here includes the nut.

Betel leaf & Betel nut are not from the same plant. Betel leaf is from a creeper plant and good for health if consumed on its own. Where as Betel nut (Areca) comes from a palm tree & is also a stimulant but can be very harmful & cancerous if consumed regularly.
