📚Description: I've seen 12 string Les Pauls before, but never a 12-string Les Paul Custom! This cool 1992 Les Paul Custom 12-string popped up in a Guitar Collector's facebook group a few weeks ago and took the group by storm. It would be fun to document that one some day haha

Bill Gruggett was a master luthier from Bakersfield California. We lost him in 2012 at 75 years old. He did build Mosrite guitar and so much more.
Very well known for his use of the best and most beautiful wood and would build everything at of it. Pick guards, pick up rings, knobs, tuner tips and so on.
Talk the time and Google his name. He built and did repairs for very famous musicians.
I love that you had guitars on your show about my old friend.
That's awesome! By the looks of his guitars he looked like a true master of his craft 🫡
He was a very kind man. He refretted a Gibson mandolin I had and repaired a broken neck on an old acoustic guitar. I remember his humility and skill a real guitar hero imho. I read somewhere that they had a celebration in Bakersfield to honour him. Sadly missed
@richardmelhuish4733 wow how nice amd if you still have those instruments you'll have just that much more to remember him by. He sounded like a very nice man and I'm sure he's really missed. Glad you got to know him while you did 👍
That small logo on a 12 string almost looks as dumb as Joe's moustache in that pic.
LOL! 😆
It's like...19th racist caricature of a Chinese man-type moustache.
Facebook, it's a big no!
Stay away from Facebook
Proudly, I have been "Censored-Deleted-Booted-Banned" from Facebook more times than you can shake your Strat's Quiverstick at!🤣🤣🤣
@danielschear556 Yup, me too. I just got muted on the Gibson Les Paul group and I don't even know what I did! 😂
Yeah, FB is garbage. It's a platform for picking fights with strangers.
Facebook is a joke.

I was already falling in love with 12 strings even before this video.... but this Les Paul is on another level! Wow!
That S-style and T-style with the caramelized neck( which is a fantastic way to describe it) are super cool! Not just because of how beautiful they are but also because Mr. Moserite built them. Just wow!
Bill gruggett built them.
Back in the early 2000s, my departed big brother ordered a 12 string Les Paul from a "boutique" manufacturer. I gasped when I saw it, but it was a quality instrument that sounded great. I wish I could remember the brand name on it (and what happened to it). Our big question then was "why the heck doesn't / didn't make a market 12-string electric? Very cool once again.
Twelve strings to constantly tune.
I'd like to see/hear one of those 12-strings with the courses turned around, octave string 2nd...
ES-150 was fully hollow.
My 1974 Gibson D-150 looks just like the dark wood grain on the stand with the master volume ,that's only other one I have seen set up like that.
I am a 12-string nut, lucky enough to have one of offset Fender XIIs from a few years back. Love the Les Paul 12-string but would want coil taps!
Hey Trogly, I'm on vacation so just catching up on some old episodes! Loved the shout-out for the ES225T! Don't you think it's time to update the old orange rockabilly unit video with the added Bigsby? That was a REALLY long time ago! I'm suggesting a 2014 reissue ES225TD in Tabacco Burst. Not the money of the 1955-59 originals, but they look vintage and play great. Love the show! Keep up the great work. Darren
I don't know how you ignored Joe Perry's "Mustache" like that.
That Les Paul with the Carlos Santana signature and Super 400 features is a long scale model, with only 20 frets😁
I believe that Richard is near my hometown. I always remembered seeing his quirky guitars come across my Facebook. I believe he sold one of the first ever, if not the first ever documented Rickenbacker bass.
The fucking headstock looks like someone stretched it out in photoshop
Austin, I’m so happy for the success of your channel. Honestly when you talked about your dream of a museum, I thought you were nuts. But I actually think you will do this now! Follow your dreams!!!
11:55 - Santa's Explorer 😆One Gibson I really regret selling was a 2003 Explorer Pro w/ yellowy-natural flamed maple top and that same red stain on the back. $1400 brand new in '04 (oof). The best thing about that guitar was the way it arrived; it was absolutely flawless.
An ES-137 Classic in Blueburst is another regret, and another brand new gem with zero issues. Paid $1200 in 2008-09. Ugh.
Same. The minute they came out I KNEW they were going to be a future highly sought after guitar. Ebony, reduced body size, blocks, etc. It was a tad high for the times, (regular versions were about $799) but I made a rule of thumb to myself that anything normally having a rosewood board that comes out with an ebony version is worth snatching up. Just the way it seems to work.
@@cataclysmicconverter Yes, I remember thinking I was spending too much. Based on inflation, $1400 in 2003 = $2400 in 2024, and there's _NO WAY_ you could get a new Gibson with those specs right now for $2400. If re-released, it'd likely retail for about $4500 today.
I absolutely agree with what you said about ebony fretboards and Gibson. Always loved the ebony / block inlay combo. My all-time favorite electric was a natural '77 LP Custom with pitch-black ebony.
Of all 18 Gibsons I've owned, that Explorer felt and played the best straight out of the box. Gibson seemed to be on a roll with QC in the early 00s.
@@bveracka Exactly. $2400 is common Demo Shop stuff these days. Definitely the best era in quality and nice, quirky, but brief models. I even had one of the Firebirds with zebrawood wings, a red BB King, SG Supreme and others. Thinking I could always replace them later, I sold them for other stuff. Story of my life!
Richard Davis has an AMAZING collection!! I am in groups with him on Facebook... Very nice gentleman.... Even sell some off now and then.... Very personable and friendly
Twice the amount headstock to snap off than a regular Les Paul. Nice.
Some of the groups dont allow you to even mention other models much more other brands. Anyone else noticed a speed knob where the toggle switch usually is on the last black guitar before we saw the burst? I don't think many people realize that certain colors like white or black or some others require more attention as well as paint to get them looking roght.
Warren Haynes has a Burst Les Paul 12 string
Es150 does not have a center block. I had one. I know who has it, and have been trying to get it back for years.
They should use locking tuners. Changing strings will be a pain in the ass on this.
Like they needed to make it any easier to break a Gibson headstock.
It’s odd that they haven’t made more 12 string LP’s. Fender has a few 12 string Strat iterations.
I'd like to see a 12 string ES-335 in the lineup again, Gibson made them for a few years from the mid 60s to the early 70s and I always thought they were really cool
Epiphone has a couple of limited 12 strings. The SJ -13 acoustic sounds and plays like a slice of heaven.
Awesome
Very nice guitar Trogly.
Why is the binding on the neck and the plys in the pickguard snow white and everything else that is white is aged to yellow?
I’ll give the headstock one week!
This one is Sick!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Imagine trying to keep this thing in tune 😅
The 12-string LP Custom is a beast !...love those LP Classics with P-90's , also love the ES-150 style guitars , there was one down at Rumbleseat Music in Santa Fe years ago that I enjoyed checking out ...Thanks Trogly !
That is the gawdyest headstock but i love it. So odd.
that middle pick up would get in the way
That headstock must be so fragile. Handle with care!
Ace Frehley called " Peter who"?
No doubt! Ace did more for/and with a 3 pup LP Custom (with only one of the three wired up) than Frampton even did.
And Richard has another one in Sunburst!.... Oops sorry... You covered that one also... I think the 335 style is a Hofner? He posts so many stylish, drool worthy beauties
I am legitimately worried about Trogly right now. I have not seen him miss an upload in years. I hope he’s good.
Nah, just late. I'm still uploading soon! Thank you for caring
Could you check the headstock angle every once in a while. 14 ° or 17°. Or what ever.
He had a tool for that, but it wasn’t accurate working with the setup he uses.
@@joermnyc it would be nice if maybe he could find some way to measure the head stock angle that works for him.
Trogly, whats that R9 at 2:58 worth? 15K+?
What did he mean when he said "signature characteristic very early days of the Custom Shop dye job"? Like, what made them different from the rest?
Damn. I read that quote right as he said it. Cut that out!
They look a very certain way - that’s as far as I can go. Look at 93/94 R9s and you’ll see what I’m talking about
Is this a custom Les Paul custom or a Les Paul custom custom
I want to have them make me a 12 string, then plug up 6 of the holes so it's a 6 string.
What great guitars...but yagatta remember (sorry)...I'm a lefty so I can only dream!
I know a guy that has an es-150...
Warren Haynes on Government mule doing Gold dust woman
Yikes !!! That will be a backbreaker of a guitar!!!
Thought there only 2 previously. One belonging to Warren Haynes.
Be funny if they did an Explorer 12 string. 😂
Carvin used to do 12 strings with their pointy style inline headstock. And it was loooooong!
@@cataclysmicconverter Carvin is still around, but the guitars and basses are now under the Kiesel brand.
@@joermnyc Oh believe me, I know. They turned the business around brilliantly and I've done some insane mock ups on their site building my dream guitars. Which was also fun with Carvin.
His collection is truly spectacular
The LP 12string…
I know they call a guitar an “axe”…but it gives me a “hedge-trimmer” vibe lol.
Can’t unsee it now lol.
IMHO it’s ruined a hallowed Black Beauty.
I have a 12-string LP. Unfortunately, a cheap Korean thing, not a Gibson.
All that means is you probably didn’t pay astronomically more than it’s worth. I’d rather have a 300 dollar MIK guitar over a 3K American guitar. Can’t justify that price jump myself.
@@TylerJohnstonGuitar How do you say you're broke without saying you're broke?
@@thatsmrharley2u2 Big difference between being broke and being smart with your money. Squiers play the same notes Fenders do.
@TylerJohnstonGuitar hating on someone because they prefer an instrument that will hold its value and get more valuable with time is the same as hating on someone because they play a squier or epiphone with an inexpensive combo amp. No one really cares what you think about certain brands, you just look like a loser hating. Play what you want and like.
@@thatsmrharley2u2Is there anything wrong with being broke anyway? Most great musicians started out broke. At least, Elon Musk hasn't made any good music that I know of
6500 for an explorer? lmao!!!!
A friend of mine thinks that giant diamond 'Gibby' is a Chibson.
Are 'we' sure it's 'genuine'?
I'm sure your friend knows more than Trogly. Are you high or something? You can't tell that that's real?
Concerned for your friend?
Biblically accurate les paul
This ageing crap kills me. I'll be the one beating up my guitar, thank-you!
Then buy a boring guitar.
That's original.
Why not an 18 string model?
Plenty of those. Double necks.
✌️
Boop!
So basically nothing crazy
F**k Facebook.

Z is for very late.
Day 2 of asking Trogly to review a 1954 Stratocaster
Hoping for less whining on day 3.
3 pickup Les Paul’s are so damn ugly!!! Rather rock a theodor then one of those 😂
Z is for really late.
Not as late as the other day hahahahahahaha
As the original owner of a 1979 Fender F55-12, I can still confidently state 12-strings in ANY form 100% worthless.🙋🏼♂️
Got a 12 string Squier jazzmaster recently plays great!
I've had several Rickenbacker 360 and 330 12 stringers and as much as I tried, I just couldn't deal with them. They take forever to re-string and their necks are just too small for me. Felt like a mandolin.
@@cataclysmicconverter I have a Rickenbacker 360 12 string and yes yr right very hard to play, thinnish neck. Try a fender
12 strings bore me. 😴
7:00 how is that tele-like?
The one right after the S-style body has a T-style body. That's pretty much it though. They are wired more like "LP Style" 😄
But yeah the DC tele type as Austin said looks more like an S-type to me. Sometimes he does that just to get people to comment. It's just a little bait to make people tell him he's wrong. Or he's going off of the rear side of the guitar which is little blockier like a telly. Who knows
On second look, it does not have the arm or belly carve more like a telly. Maybe that's it?
