  • The San Antonio Spurs have a much brighter future than people realize and have the ammo to shape that outlook greatly this offseason. Victor Wembanyama somehow surpassed the massive expectations he had heading into his rookie year, they have the 4th and 8th pick in the draft which they can use to build around Wemby, or they can use those picks in a package to get a playmaker to better set him up.

    I have what might be a hot take, and most will call it a stupid take (and I'm okay with that). Ben Simmons. Assuming his physical health, I think he'd fit perfectly with Wemby. He's a very good ball handler, an excellent passer, he can guard 1-5, SA would be the new Lob City, and you don't have to worry about him taking too many shots. Yes, Simmons has his problems, but now that he's fallen so far from his peak, I imagine his next contract will be incredibly team friendly. He only has one year left on his current deal, at $40M. Thats the last year of his 5-year, $177M deal, which will dwarf whatever his next contract turns out to be. That was a 35-40 million dollar per year deal, so I'd bet he will get maybe half of that in his next deal. I just think Simmons and Wemby running the floor together would very effective, and very entertaining. They would have the best interior defender that can hang with guards, and arguably the best perimeter defender who can hang with the bigs. Add to that they have the draft capital and cap space to make some serious trades as well. Just my opinion.

      back injuries are a career-ender. Ben's contract must be cheap enough to entice a team to take a risk on him.

    The Sochan experiment didn't work not because of lesser offense but not as good court vision and facilitation skills.

      It absolutely accomplished its goal. Spurs lost a lot which gave them room to still be in the bottom 5 even after significant improvement towards the end of the season. Also, sochan improved his playmaking which is going to be very valuable at the 4 next to Wemby.

    Spurs need to find a solidified number 2 Trae is too ball dominant, I’d say they trade the 8th pick and Keldon Johnson for Dejounte back he fits their defense and scheme then draft Zaccharie Risacher 6’9 versatile 3&D wing with massive room for improvement def a project but that leaves your starting 5 looking like: Dejounte, Vassel, Risacher, Sochan and Wemby then that following summer when bigger free agents emerge I’d say go for a Sochan or Vassel replacement

    • @OwskiiiGaming
      @OwskiiiGaming 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Trae has been ball dominant because he’s had to be, the fact he wants to play with Wemby I think he’d become more pass first but his shooting and gravity is definitely needed. If not him they need that still.

    Take Castle or Topic at the 4, Risacher if available. Take Knecht, Williams or Buzelis at the 8, take a solid PG if Risacher is taken at 4. Sign a younger vet 3D wing. Pray CHI(dunno the protection) and ATL(no protection AT ALL) would suck their picks would land in the top 10 of 2025 draft. Also draft a solid backup C in the 35th or package it with the 48th or something to move up and draft a backup C. I dont like Collins long term, maybe Barlow will develop, who knows.

      @Ebriel0000000 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes : Spurs need a starter PG, a good 3nD wing and a backup C instead of Collins. With 2 top 10 picks, they can have 2 of these players : the coming season will be very interesting and their W will be closer from 40 than 20. Their second round picks are an asset and several players of the actual roster could (maybe must) be traded. Spurs are back.
