You should do a video on Reshade/The Sharper Eye. It massively increases the clarity of Steam games at very little performance cost, and it’s actually quite easy to setup.
Hey so I did this and it was great, thanks a bunch. You did this so well I find myself wanting to see a video of how best to play games via airlink or VD. All the settings are just random gibberish to me, and some of my games work amazing and some are jittery, but I don’t know if I should change bitrate, dynamic this that or the other, htz, mbps, 120 or 60 fps, what to do on the headset or which where why what for optimum enjoyment… and most videos about this presume you know half of what all of that means, whereas your videos are super informative which is awesome even for idiots like me…. Would LOVE to see something like that!
These are really great videos. I love the fact that you're getting to the setup and tweaking because it isn't out there anywhere. I've worked on a lot of networks (to my credit mostly wired) and didn't know about this. Thanks again.
To be fair, I learned most of this 2 days ago while making this video. I had heard people talk about wifi channels, decided to look into it, and this video is the result of that. Lol
That wifi tool is great, I found a 2nd 5ghz channel on my router that I didn't know existed and that doesn't change with when I change the known channel, weird. That channel was interfering with my gaming router so set up separation on the gaming router and now working much better, thanks!
I have no idea why but normally the VRchat-like avatar youtube channels creep me out and I can't watch them. This is the first one that didn't bug me. Maybe it's face tracking improving or how close you are to the camera, I don't know. Anyway, thanks for the info, great video.
This is the only video ive seen that goes into the detailed router settings and is what fixed my constant lagging. My specs: Ryzen 5 3600 OC 4.2ghz Gtx 1080 sc2 aio water cooled 16gb ram Im using a stand alone tp-link ax1500 router plugged directly into my pc’s ether port. I watched videos about adjusting VD settings but couldnt get rid of lag and fps dropping/studdering. My cpu and gpu each have their own 240mm aio coolers and running cold. My 1080 is max overclocked with msi afterburner, idles at 21c and never goes over 43c running the witcher 3. Same with my cup, highest temp is 44c. I thought something was wrong with my pc and maybe steam vr games where too demanding even though i was lowering all VD settings with the same lagging. The dropping frames where giving me headaches and making me feel sick. After watching this video i went into my router settings, turned of the 2.4 channel. Set the 80hz, was already on a higher channel and the difference is amazing with having Some VD settings all the way up. I tip my hat to you sir *tips hat* and good day😁
Um, question. 5ghz is supposed to have such poor penetration, less likely to get through a wall than my penetration odds with a supermodel. How can anything possibly interfere with that?
I don't know much about it, but if max channel is 165 and 80Mhz it's 16 channels to both sides, then on channel 161 there is only 4 channels to 165. Our routes selects 149 channels automatically. And it turns out that from 149 to 165 exactly 16 channels. What if they know something ?🤔
I have the same exact router as you, ASUS RT-AX55. There is no other 5ghz routers nearby but the highest channel I can choose is 112, that's weird. Anyway, thanks for the video, good research and well explained.
Pro tip. Avoid xfinity/Comcast routers. At least on mine it WILL NOT let me change these settings because it wants to "automatically help optimize your home WI-FI network." At least it lets you see what chanel it uses. Also I was never planning on using this router. This is the "family's router" and I'm getting myself a quest/my room dedicated router.
Do higher channel frequencies within the 5Ghz range have less or more line of sight range than lower frequencies? And is it significant enough in length to potentially take advantage of for very large spaces? (ie. over 200ft)
Higher channels require a closer connection. But I don't think it's a big enough difference to be that big of a deal as far as how big a playspace is. Unless you're across a warehouse trying to use the max playspace size....
@@brettcameratraveler yeah in that case I have no idea. If you notice any issues, maybe try using a smaller bandwidth. That'll make it easier to travel long distances. Just might have to deal with some stutters
@@morcossthegreat7960 The scientist has spoken everyone. He proclaims 5G to be the same as 5Ghz wifi. Why? Because they both have a 5 and a G in their names. would there be any point getting a dedicated router if my internet speed is not fast enough? I have at&t internet 12 plan. the download speed is up to 12 mbps and uploads are up to 1.5 mbps. the supplied modem/router is an Arris nvg589. I'm not sure if it has 5g on it, but i think it has 2.4g.
does anybody know if it would be better to have a lower channel with 160mhz, or a higher channel on 80mhz? I have a Quest Pro so 160mhz is supported, but i'll need to go lower to avoid clashing with 157
I hooked up my old Asus AC66u as my dedicated router. Ethernet right into my PC. My PC is on wifi(AX86u downstairs) but I get a strong 5G signal. I have to disable the wifi on my PC to select the 5G Ethernet in the quest 2 and everything runs great using VD, but I have no wifi for my PC at the same time. I set up priority for wifi as explained in your other video and now my PC stays on the 5G wifi, but for some reason my ethernet is the 2.4 on my old router and can't get it to pick the 5G unless I disable the wifi. So in VD when I pick the 5G from ethernet it shows it's not the same as PC because its on wifi 5G and doesn't connect to desktop. How do you have both 5G wifi for PC and 5G ethernet?
Hey! fantastic information here. Question though. if My router supports 160, will that work better? I have not tried as other people have said it does not work well. thanks!
