Cheers Man. Great vid. I am a 67 yo owner of a 2006 Italian-made European-version CB900 I bought new in 2007, here in Poland. What a great bike. I had it always maintained by the best motorcycle mechanic in Poland, and she's still clean as a whistle, after 14 years. Stay safe.
Thanks for sharing the video. I just bought my first bike CB900 F 2006, without having A class licence to ride it. Today i passed the test and got the licence so i can finally start riding it 🤩 Thanks for these precious videos!
Hi Benjamin, what a brilliant video.Your commentary is impeccable.I'm 68 and still riding. Can't seem to give it up.Thanks for putting these videos on TH-cam.
Make sure the sliding pins the pads slide on are clean and greased. Make sure the inside of the calipers where the brake pads move in and out ar squeaky clean the pads must not get hung up. Also verify your caliper pistons arw not dirty and corroded. Last but by no means lease make sure all the air is out of the lines even if you have to remove the master cylinder to get the last air bubble.
Watched the review first then this one. There's one for sale locally if I can get my savings and my life goals to line up...great vid thanks for posting!
i have a 2002, 14k miles, with that same exact windscreen and frame bumpers. I love it! my mods have been, a power commander, a better seat, carbon fiber exhaust, and ss brake lines
I bought a Hagon monoshock with a progressive spring that was matched to my weight directly from them in the UK via their site. (which ends in .uk, not the US distributor) Best money I've spent on the 919. The compression/rebound damping are tied together but match each other well and the build quality(stainless steel) is outstanding. Current exchange rates put it under $400 new shipped to your door. I'd highly recommend it if you have it in your budget. I did the sprocket gear up too, also a great mod- especially for highway work.(though I stayed at 530)
I've got a spare BRAND NEW Hagon mono shock (still in box collecting dust) for this bike... raises the rear by about 1/2" and can't get on center stand. So, bought the Nitrons and they work a treat - since I got 2 CB900F-5s, that's 2 sets of Nitrons!
Brake pad is prematurely worn usually due to dirty caliper slides. If you pull the slides out and clean and lube them, the caliper should be able to move freely like its suppose to and not wear the pads unevenly. Nice bike, I own one too. Thanks for the video, very interesting to watch.
Thanks for sharing that tech tip! A lot of 919 guys complain about the brakes dragging. Maybe this is the solution we all have been overlooking. They're great bikes, I'm working on a long term review vid. Glad enjoyed!

Just did a coolant flush and gave this a rewatch, very helpful thanks again. Also replaced the spark plugs while the tank was up and figured out the trick to get the notorious #3 plug out without much hassle. If you're replacing them sometime lmk and I can spell out the technique and save you the headache
Of course man I'm so glad this vidja has been helping you out! Last set of plugs I did, I believe I just used the socket that comes in the tool roll and moved the coil packs.
@@10mm That is right the tool is so useful, glad your tool roll still had it I had to source one. I lowered the radiator per the service manual and for me the trick was pulling it out the same side as the 1 and 2 plugs after they were removed. Wasn't intuitive and the manual doesn't make it clear but it birthed itself out of there without having to remove the coils. Here's to many more miles before we pull them out again!
I've got 2 of the F'05 Hornet 900s. Seeing this "maintenance" vid is okay. However, I am left bewildered when you show the front brake pads unevenly worn... Houston, there's a problem! As you swapped out the original rubber hoses, why didn't you go the extra 10yds and rebuild the calipers?? You would have found there was corrosion on the pistons (4 on each side)... polish them up if possible, new seals etc. Also, as a result of the uneven wear, the discs should be measured and replaced if worn unevenly. (and clean/grease the pins) Also, what is purpose of 520 chain over the standard 530? I guess you'll be changing chain& sprockets more regularily, especially if you ride it daily.

I clean my calipers like every 3000 miles, I exercise them couple times so all pistons work ok... Vesrah pads are better option than OEM, they are reasonably priced. My 919 has little over 75000 miles and still running sharp, the more I ride it the harder it will be to let her go but I am looking at Kawasaki Z900RS which I test rode and I love it. hey got a question, i got a 2004 cb900f and its leaking fuel. at first i saw fuel pouring into the airbox *near the center cylinders. replaced injectors, tank gaskets, fuel pump, and fuel filter. what else could cause fuel leaks?
One of your fuel lines may have a hole from chafing. Did you use new o-rings on the injectors and make sure they weren't pinched? My suggestion would be to put on safety goggles, lift the tank and safely support it, then pressurize the system and see if you can locate the source. I wouldn't ride with a fuel leak that's a big fire hazard.
@@10mm I believe found the problem the vacuum line from the fuel regulator was disconnected. The motorcycle ran but it also was overfilling fuel into the airbox* and nearby parts
