Pecan pie is one of my favorites. May offer you a quick tip instead of leaving the pecans in half I always chop them into about 6 to 8 pieces once they’re put into the pie they flowed up and as they bake they make a very attractive pie. But there is one big advantage especially to people as they get a little older. And that is not everyone has a full set of teeth or they may have dentures or just in general they may have some trouble chewing. So when you pre-chop the nuts the pie becomes much more enjoyable. And all those cooking shows they leave them in halves and while it may look pretty it’s not fun to eat especially for someone like me who is 70 years old. I intend on eating it until I am 100. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I absolutely enjoy your channel As much as anyone I would post here and may be a little more. Me and Mammaw used to make pecan pies in little tart shells, one recipe will make about 15 pies, we’d drop the pecans in the shell, and pour the custard on top of it, baking is alot shorter too❤ pecan pie of any kind makes me feel happy for the holidays ❤️ love you, and all your recipes, and thank goodness for KK❤️

Up north we have very good sweet hard to crack PE-CONS. An old man a couple towns over shells them for $1 a lb. I like the way people say pecans differently - especially in the south!
Hello MeMe. This may be one of my two favorite pies. I live here in New England as have all my family for several hundred years. I say this because my mother pronounced pecan pie the exact same way you did. I know many people here in Massachusetts that say pecan instead of pe con. Lol somehow your way of saying it seems correct and makes it as southern as this pie should be. So many wonderful recipes and especially cooks come out of the south. Especially in the low country where do you live nearby and in the North Carolina area you have wonderful Cooks that I’m leaving out Alabama which I don’t mean to. One of my best cookbooks that I own for 50 years it’s called Nashville seasons and it was printed by the Junior League of Nashville sometime in the early 70s it is the most used and timeline of all of my cookbooks. The recipes can not to be overly complicated to just plain easy they enjoy butter and they are useful for a family supper or an elegant get together. I should say if it is still available and if it is you may find one in your mailbox in South Carolina one of these days. And you remember to shine for Jesus.
I'm from Northern Georgia and we also pronounce pecan with a long drawl on every letter. My grandma's family were from the deep south where you could barely talk without a long drawl on almost every vowel. That pie looks scrumptious.
