Guy is a living legend. Who else can say they were in the room with Hendrix, recorded some of Bowies greatest hits, played for Madonna, played with Luther Vandross, layed down dozens of funk classics, produced a classic Vaughan Brothers album, and on and on.

Nile Rodgers, what a very very special person! He is an absolute legend and superstar, while being such a modest gentle and sensitive person. His story (and regret) around Miles actually brought a tear to my eye. I am very lucky to have seen him play live couple of times (North Sea Jazz) and we all know his songs (both Chic and from his collaborations, although not everyone would be aware of these). Here is a guy who helped shaped modern music. Thank you Niles!

Not only is Nile one of the greatest producers/writers in history, but he's one of the coolest, most open-minded dudes on Earth and one of the three greatest rhythm guitar players that has ever lived. In addition to that, he has always been a huge fan of music. I once saw Chic in concert and it was refreshing and inspiring to watch Nile Rodgers admiring Bernard Edwards doing a bass solo. Nile and Bernard changed the world.

The Queen of Disco. When I first heard Chic (Dance x3, Yowsah x3) I thought to myself ‘at last Disco music with class’. At the time everyone was jumping on the disco bandwagon and ruining it e.g. Rick Dees and his cast of idiots, with the awful awful tune Disco Duck.

It must be nearly 10 years ago now when I saw that Chic were performing at The Warehouse Project in Manchester also topping the bill was Detroit Techno genius Jeff Mills, immediately I realised I had 12” singles by both artists with a 30 year gap between them and so promptly bought tickets for the event. At the end of Nile’s set his manager noticed me holding C’est Chic album and asked if I would like to meet Nile backstage, my answer was of course YES. Just one other person was also invited. Backstage I noticed Nile nearby and so let the lady, who was also invited, to meet him first, I took I slight detour as I’d just spotted Johnny Marr who had joined Chic for their final song. As I reached and shook his hand I said “Mr Marr, what an honour . . . . . it was for you to be up there performing with Nile tonight” he looked at me with a momentary look of confusion and replied with a nod of the head saying “Yeah, you’re right”. I did feel a little cheeky saying that but have recently discovered, watching an interview he did for Oxford university, that he had named his Son after Nile. And so I got to meet the man himself, who is as important to Dance music as the river is to Egypt. As you know he has a giant smile, while chatting he asked me if I would like him to sign the two records I held in my hand, as I passed him the 12” single Le Freak I said to him “I bought this a third of a century ago” to which he said with a big smile “WOW” . Such a precious memory.

Not only that this interview thank you thank you thank you awesome interview and so telling. I've been in his presence three different times and then I've been at events where he was there and so all I know is greatness is not by what a person has but what they influence humbly and he is just that a true influencer both from the past and in the present and people don't even know it so in one way it's sort of sad but at the same time it's like that's his vibration you know the influence of the work or the fruit speaks for itself. What a genius in music! A life without Nile Rogers music is possible, but senseless! ;)

These stories are SICK. I would trip with Nile Rodgers. The story about Miles Davis gave me heartache.

Nile is such a fantastic storyteller. I really love hearing from him and yet I know almost nothing about his music and that era.
