100% agree with this. Couple of the cut shots she played were exceptionally good - great setup this form of cricket allowing all forms of ability at a young age to be introduced to adult cricket
@@SandersteadCCTV we have a Dev league in the South Notts league where I play, but nowhere near this standard. Some of those 15 year old bowlers looked terrifyingly quick to me!
Young off-spinner for Sanderstead bowled so many back foot no-balls. It’s surprising how many people are just unaware of the rule. One day a league umpire will pull him up on it out of the blue! 👍🏻 Great videos as always Dan 🏏
Another great watch Dan,always great to see the young fellas and fella-ess playing and enjoying the great game. Also good to see another Ranga(gingernut)for Sanderstead behind the stumps.oh and a Gray-Nicolls ultimate as well!!!
Love your channel Dan. Amara really made me sit up and take note she has enormous talent!!! Noticed nearly all of your youngsters turned blind when running between wickets maybe something small that your coaches could rectify. Anyway good luck go Amara !!
It gladdens my heart, in these days of cynicism, negativity and dishonesty, to see youngsters simply playing and enjoying the great game in this way. Some talented players out there.
Absolutely loved watching this. We've started All Stars at Merton Cricket Club this year for the first time, and it's my ambition that we have a Surrey Trust League team in time; this is what we aspire to!
Love to watch the youth play, definitely some serious talent on show. Just a bit of work in the fielding department and some confidence with the bat, and they'll fit in nicely. Young Amara looked the goods too!
I watched that in slow-mo and didn't see any clear evidence that he gloved it. I think the problem was that he looked so guilty the umpire just send him packing.
Good shout on walking Dan! An important aspect of the game. Takes dignity, something all coaches should teach their charges! Also....what is it with the red-headed mullets?
After our dismal collapse from 110-0 to lose chasing 174 on Sunday - 6 ducks in a row including a golden from myself - what a pleasure to see Amara who Surrey must surely have eyes on and I wouldn't bet against going a long way in this game. Note to self - don't convince our skipper to retire our openers on 50 again.
Great video and big fan of what the trust league does. Boring technical cricket law point. The crossing law where the new batsman has to face after a catch doesn’t come in till the autumn, the professional game domestically has taken the new law on early in its regulations but recreational cricket still is all under the old law. So basically this is the last summer of crossing after a catch.
[1] Difference was ground fielding: S&M probably saved 20-30 runs with their fielding. [2] As noted by others, Amara looks good - does Sanderstead have a women's team? Or, further, does the club comp in your area have a women's competition? [3] Do you have any genuine quick bowlers coming through - actually, does Sanderstead have ANYONE of genuine pace or, do those kids with true speed get snapped up by the bigger clubs?
Same here - you get more out of most umpires too if you are selective with your appealing. Sadly most people (even those on the boundary!) seem to go up for everything these days
Harris and Johnson could be the perfect duo to bowl 20 overs in senior cricket. The only thing I don't like about this format is how easy it would be for teams to stick a first XI opener in to make a massive knock and to essentially smash teenagers around.
Exactly right - this format works well when the senior players make sure the juniors have the opportunity to play. Most teams get it right and see that it isn’t just about winning at this level.
@@MelonGearSolid Perhaps, but it will do absolutely nothing for the young players confidence to be spanked around a field for 10 overs and will be regressive in terms of encouraging participation
@@MelonGearSolid Perhaps but it will do damage a young players confidence to be slapped around a field for 10 hours and ultimately be counterproductive in encouraging participation or bridging the gap between junior and senior cricket.
I disagree, most of these kids look skilled enough to handle themselves and they seem to understand the format. It's great to have those senior players in the side to not only help them set a platform for a competitive game, but to help guide and develop their skills so they can make the transition to senior cricket.
So were the S&M folk still well behaved once you'd got a few pilgrims in them? :P Batters crossing isn't an issue post October for general cricket. I think some development needs to be done that if bails have come off the stumps then to break the wicket you have to remove a stump with the hand holding the ball. It might also be a good idea to make no balls when bowling cost 4 runs - there is no need to get that close to the line!!!! Some good play from both sides and your young lady certainly puts her whole self into bowling!
Amara has better technique than all the youngsters that went in ahead of her. Kids need more time in the nets with throwdowns. Footwork, getting into line, getting the front elbow high.
Just seen the first team result, four ducks and lose by two runs. Played a (good) 15 year old and veteran Mr Key. Where were Jallen, Jake, Josh, Ryan🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Jallen injured (of course), the others had games off - it happens. Also Sandeep wasn’t around either. Should be back to near full availability this week. Apparently we dropped loads of catches and let Kingstonians get 154 on a challenging deck. Weirdly our league position was unaltered!
Just walk! You must be kidding. You’ve paid to play so get your moneys worth. You will have enough go against you; let the fabulous umpires like Derek do their job 🤪
I know what you mean - I am a bit old school and would love to see more honesty in cricket, but I expect you are right in that it won’t happen any time soon….
@@SandersteadCCTV Most know when they have been run out or are plumb LBW and I guess wouldn’t walk, so walking for edges is the odd one out in that aspect. Must be some second hand hot spot technology you can get down to the sawmill!
I must say Dan.. What a delight it was to see amara with bat and ball.. What a great prospect she is

It’s a really good initiative by Surrey - and I guess other counties do it too. If not, they should!

Scas was always going to be in the runs. Expecting spin, wasn't expecting that pace from Amara! Great to see the young bloods.
Was really impressed. Good run up and pace 👍
Amara looks a genuine talent. Hope she's getting opportunities in the grades somewhere too. Hope to see her on the telly in not too long
Amara Imran.. what a talented girl ! what a run-up, bowling action and follow through! and she can bat also !!! keep it up young girl !!!

Great line, length and lovely action from Amara👍🏏 Good knock from Jake.

The umpire didn't put his finger up 3:45 so the batsman was rightly confused, as a nod doesn't mean you are out. lol
Confused me as well! 😂

It seemed to me that the Umpire was waiting for the batsman to walk, almost giving them the chance to do the right thing!
