- Everyone loves a good edgy character from time to time. At one point they were the cool guys. Then they became cliché. And now they’re generally beloved when the edge is balanced just right. Fighting Games are no strangers to edgy characters, having those ruthless character that dress in a dark aesthetic and want no part in society. It’s time to look at these darker fighting game characters and see who has the sharpest edge.

A dark character isn't necessarily that, they have shitty life all right, but still down to earth.
But I do agree with you to a certain extent.
Iori is only chill when he's doing his own thing, but if you are Kyo, Iori wants nothing more than your death.

Surprised that neither Skullgirls’ Valentine nor Soul Caliber’s Tira made the list. Tira especially; Nightmare is a standard demon enemy when it comes down to it, but Tira is a damaged psychopath that loves and willingly serves a semi-sentient evil sword. Edgiest in the series by far.
When a female character is edgy, they're considered kewl. Calling them out for being edgeladies will get you accused of sexism, apparently.
I'm surprised to that skullgirls is featured in any other of his list but this one and also skullgirls is a pretty edgy fighter when you look at it on the level of darkstalkers of edgiest
Tira and Nightmare are tied, they are an edgy power couple.

That is true. As mentioned, he doesn't like confrontation and will not bother anyone who doesn't bother him first. However, when he's in a fight, he'll go all out, likely as a side effect from his Orochi blood. Perhaps violent wasn't the best word to use there, but he is brutal when he fights.

For me it+s the complete opposite, I can´t, just can´t take an edgelord seriously.
One specific detail on Iori that I absolutely love is that, despite his feral fighting style, he actively dislikes violence, but he only acts so vicious just to get it over and done with.
I'd normally say all these characters just need is a hug, but I think some of them are beyond needing a hug. You don't push over kids, Yagami!

Personally I hate the word "Edgy" these days. Its one of many overused words on the internet and people seem to love using it to describe anything that is even a little bit Dark or gorey Or use it to describe something they hate.
As for the video it was very good and very well done as usual.
Thanks! I generally prefer the terms dark or brooding, too. Since most people pitched this as "edgy fighting game characters," I went with that, but in a way, it fits your description too since some of these characters are a lot less dark than others, yet still get the edgy tag.

The edge is strong with this list. I'd like to bring up a few characters that you don't need to believe but I feel Guile from SF is one of the edgiest and most american character I've seen. So he's been kicking ass since the '90s saying go home and be a family man and constantly ignoring his family in the sake of "justice" and "revenge". The thing is Akuma might want to assert his dominace with the ability to make the background T-Pose (yes I know what it really is) but in the end he just wanna fight. Akuma may say he wanna kill but does he shirk his responsibility (other than to his children) for this "power" and tell people to live a non warrior life? I swear it'll like Hey ya all over again lol.
Guile is so edgy he combs his hair or put on shades showing the disrespect.
One more person to add to the list Seto Kaiba because of Jump Force...he crushed an container and fired a guy for making the container too weak. Think about popping a balloon and being mad because you could.
Remy fits the bill more imo.

Note: Even though Iori is blunt, serious, and rude, he's a good man who hates violence, plays a bass guitar in a band, and loves cats. Also, he isn't evil. He has been through a lot, so he hides his emotions so no one understands him for his only enjoyment is making Kyo suffer. But, he is one of those people you wanna feel sorry for after he's been through a lot and give him a hug, as long as you don't piss him off of course.

I see iori I hit like......one of the best characters ever made. He's a total beast. His quotes and lines while fights, his moves, his fighting style, his powers and everything. He's also a broken person inside but still manages to keep himself strong and confident on the outside. What an incredible character man. 🙌

I personally believe that Iori just likes to being efficient with his attacks, inflicting cutting damage it's more effective in making an enemy want to run away or to die.

Nightmare's SCIV design is still my favourite to this day...it's just so edgy, but completely unique among his designs while still being recognizable...and it's so f**king *cool...it definitely has the vibe of being his "ultimate" form, like Night Terror but less feral.
