Unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to trust Razer until this new generation of products have had years to prove themselves durable and reliable. There's the pitfall of being laser-focused on feel, design and branding over build quality for so many years. A legacy of burning people like that has a loooong tail. Looks promising as heck tho.
Yeah i get that. I sold my viper to someone on reddit. They messaged me a month later saying the buttons are feeling mushy, scroll wheel no longer works and the mouse is skipping and got it rma'd with the info i sent them. Im with ya there
This keyboard isn't as loud as you make it out to be. I actually think that these switches sound beautiful and they are extremely quick. I just got mine on sale for $90. If you can find it on sale for a decent price, grab it! For sure a steal!
It's cool that now they have compatible PBT keycaps and a good wrist rest, and only 65 for both for the best. Really a good deal, might end up getting them all together.
Great review man. A solid voice you got there. One thing I have to mention is that if the keyboard works with any usb type-c cable then the cable provided in the package is by definition not proprieraty
Honest showing the rattling noise :) As usual. Not gonna buy it, gonna keep my money to make a new custom board, but still a good one coming from Razer, I'm impressed
@@jacobreid5689 no razer huntsman has pbt keycaps and it has a faster response time but each has his preference I personally like the huntsman better it also is cleaner than apex pro.
Mate I own the Apex pro with the Omni switches and what I can say is after 2 months of break in the switches did feel smooth. The key activation is a total gimmick and not worth it. When you press a key you almost always bottom out so having a key that actives at .1 is almost useless because your limited by how fast you can go all the way up and all the way down with the switch. Don't know about razor but I would recommend glorious. You can get any key switch you could dream of and build quality is pretty solid.
TheSubieFan I’m currently on optical switches with the Bloody Gaming B930. Prior to that I had the GMMK with silver speed switches. I’m all in on the optical switches now after being on them for a year. May end up passing on the Apex tkl now.
Hi Brian, been following you for a while and I am surprised that you do not have more followers... great content and quality... keep up the great work!
All my stuff comes from Epidemic Sound.... I've been putting the track and the artist in the description for a while now too in case you wanna check out more of their stuff.
Actually made me interested in Razer again thanks to the Viper and now the Huntsman TE although I feel like if they released a Razer Blackwidow TE with their regular Razer mechanical switches then this will be a lot better IMO. Also the huntsman TE is using the same case from the Razer Blackwidow Stealth which I'm not complaining much since they're using standard bottom row now but the metal ping from the top plate is quite annoying but overall good job Razer, welcome back.
Just bought it and it is very loud, but I really love this keyboard, used to have a full size keyboard and it is so nice having much more room to use my mouse with gaming. Does take a lot to get used to after using cherry red silent switches lol.
I adore my full size Huntsman Elite, by far one of my favorite typing experiences and it looks so pretty. A TKL version with linear switches and USB-C? Oh hell yes...Definitely gonna pick it up for my FPS setup.
wow, those keycaps are nice and thick. I recall reading that Razer really wanted to push into esports space and I see this keyboard (and the razer viper) targeted directly towards Logitech's g-pro wireless mouse and g-pro gaming keyboard.
Saw their brave post on r/mk and was very surprised to see a not too shabby board from them, i hope this will teach brands like corsair how to make a board
After briefly talking with Razer on r/mk I was pretty hopeful that we would see some decent products. A review this positive exceeds my expectations and i didn't think changes would come this soon. Very nice.
For anyone curious like I was, the keyboard is loud because of the keycaps, not the switches. I went to best buy, and they had this on display. I took off the keycaps and the switches were really quiet actually. I took a keycap from the huntsman elite, put it on top of this switch, and it's no louder than a romer g tactile, cherry red, or cherry speed. If I had to describe how the switches feel, think of it like this. You know how it feels when you press a pen down, but try to get it as close as you can to it without the click? The switches feel amazing and I'm gonna buy this board, then swap the keycaps out for doubleshot pbt shine throughs or any other set that I feel like
Interesting switch. Sound is an issue for me, but i like where this is going. Also ur taunting me with that skoll in these last revieuws. I love mine and still cant wait for the revieuw. Good job

First: Great vids Brian. Second: I'm sorry this will be long but it's starting to drive me nuts. Peripheral retailers are ridiculous, but only because the consumer is equally nuts. These boards (and this extends to most mice) aren't worth this much money. Among my collection I have a Motospeed CK61 I picked up from Banggood a year ago maybe, that was and still is $45. Rgb, Kailh box switch, usb-c, stabilizers like this keyboard (it's not a new design), no flex, etc...throw in your choice of pbt keycaps and you're decently set. Sure, it has its shortcomings, but the details these retailers are providing are not worth another $100 a year later, we're being asked to pay for brand name mostly. As long as people keep buying these products at inflated prices this trend will continue, but there are options out there for any of you watching/reading this that are willing to buy something else and/or hold out a year or so for a company to get brave and take a hit on per unit profit and reap the rewards of selling an equivalent product at a cheaper price and recovering their costs through sales volume. Look at final mouse and Brian's recent reviews on all the companies following suit but at 25-50% the cost. The difference there is that final mouse was early to the game and you'll always pay premium to be early to the game. But this tech isn't new, the big name companies are just late to the game and marketing their crap like it's fresh off the patent press and we should pay top dollar to help them recoup their fake R&D costs. Vote with your dollar folks, you deserve a better peripheral!
I know you have mentioned that you are not a fan of the design of the Ducky One 2 TKL, but can you possibly feature it in a TKL keyboard battle/comparison video? Good review as always!
