Only video on yt about the new 2023 version lol. 4:45, simply having fm radio does not make it multiband or not. The fact that it already does vhf and uhf makes it "multiband" out of the box. You can unlock the rest of the freqs with programming software, so it's even more multiband mulutiband.
If a person has a ham license, a person could program 144-148, 220 band and 70cm band and a few weather channels too for emergency weather conditions on Receive only.
Practically speaking, the baofeng UV25 does everything this radio can do but at a fraction of the cost, has usb charging, 3 different scrambler modes, and is compatible with the much cheaper and easier to find Chinese radio accessories. Voice inversion scrambling , which is what this radio and the UV25 can do, is very easy to decrypt and many Chinese radios have scrambler built in, so all someone would need to do is either use software or the same radio you are using to understand a voice inversion scrambled message. Sometimes you can match up the same scrambler group/mode with two different brand radios, and I think scrambler group 8 on the quansheng radios is the same group used on these replica TRI PRC radios.
@@jhutch1470 What is needed for GPS to work Another video I saw showed the disassembly of the radio of TCA but inside the radio, the GPS module wasn't installed? Any ideas on if it works? I'm researching the TCA 152 A and can't find much on the GPS if it works as bought. Thanks
@@grumpymrpug9282almost in every country all radios that you can change frecuencies and antennas, you need to be a ham, a gmrs wont do it, you only can use GMRS specific radios
With a Ham license you would be good for 2 meters 220band and the 70cm band also. Plus a few weather channels to listen too when weather turns sour. Now that would be a very good ham radio.

Thanks for letting me know! I’m not very radio savvy but I enjoy these replicas thanks for your info though it helps a lot!

Decent review kid, well done!

Ok thanks
How do you set offset on the new version? I dont see a menu option. Thanks
what is the difference between this one and the TRI version?
I think the TCA one has a better less buggy interface
The TCA offers computer programming, TRI does not.
I know that the TCA brand has GPS, but I don't think the TCI does.

@@DMF716I believe on the new 2023 TCAs it’s just a setting you enable and it displays your latitude and longitude on the front screen
Do I need a Ham or GMRS to use it?
HAM
I don’t believe so as long as you don’t use licensed channels you should be fine e
A GMRS license is only $35. It lasts 10 years, has no test to take, and covers everyone in your immediate family.

About 4 miles If the other person with a radio is within sight military radios work best in line of sight

Does this transmit on 450 mhz+ freqs? What about US FRS?
Not legal on FRS
