Celine has always wanted to sing with John Farnham because that’s the song that she used for warming up her voice before shows. That was an amazing performance. Check out celine on her own at Hyde park 5th July 2019 singing your the voice
It tears me up to see the respect with which she treats him.. so richly deserved, but often missing when people talk of John Farnham. I think that having grown up with him at his peak, we just take him for granted. It’s good to be reminded of how lucky we are to have such a bloke and such a song as part of our identity.
Dear John Farnham I have loved you for more than 50 years. You were my childhood dreamboat. I used to have a pink and purple poster on my bedroom wall of you singing Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. Thank you for being such a shiny example of talent and innate goodness. You are the epitome of the word LEGEND.

Yeah he’s great with projection. I actually found her to overpowering. But I absolutely love John and his songs really are for him to perform with perfection.
He outsung her so easily. I found her voice to blend in with the back ground singers and the crowd. John's just cut through it all like it wasnt there!
It amazes me that what we here in Australia back in the 70's and 80's considered.. normal....the rest of the world freaks out and find him fantastic. And of course he is fantastic...what were they listening to back then..? You show em' John.. you still got it.

I saw John at Bondi Junction shopping centre, little tiny stage, close enough to touch. PA, mike, nothing fancy. But his energy! As she said amazing energy! Hope he recovers well now. ❤️❤️

I love after watching this soooo many times how Celine gets startled & steps back while John sings those 2 chords near the end of the song, she wasn't expecting that & for John to just let go. That's what happens when u sing with the voice himself.
I think she was expecting it, she said "give it to me naaaaaooooooowwwwwww" but even when you're expecting a bomb to go off the shockwave still has effect on you.
I loved it when she told him she has always been his number one fan and he made her dream come true. He got emotional because she is famous and he forgets he is. She was like a fan and he was too. I love John and I have always loved Celine. Now it scares me to see how sick she is, sending love and prayers.
They knew they had been a part of a once in a lifetime experience/performance..... i was blessed enough to be there that night. NO WORDS can descrribe.
I was at this concert! Still gives me shivers, I remember looking over at my mum and she was crying she was so excited! I wish this video did justice to how loud the crowd was singing! It's so good being this proud of an Aussie icon!
His voice is absolutely remarkable... He truly is The Voice..yes, he has aged but those vocal chords remain young, strong and pitch perfect.. Without a doubt one of the greatest of all time..
Truly amazing to see two incredible vocal talents sharing the stage with total respect for each other. No egos here just the sheer joy of singing this great anthem!!!
Kouli Kevinn I was at the opening ceremony and I was so sure John was going to step out at any minute. Sadly no. Would have been amazing if they’d have got him to perform this live instead of just playing it as a background recording.
This is incredible! Two amazing singers and performers sharing the stage. I’m from the UK and find it unbelievable that John Farnham is a one hit wonder over here. I went to Australia last September and October, everyone I asked looked at me as if I was born yesterday when I explained that he wasn’t that well known in UK, and that song is better known than him!!!- he is quite rightly a living legend in Australia, as is Celine Dion everywhere. Please both come over and tour in The UK- I’d pay good money for the privilege! I hope they both carry on performing for many, many years 😊. John Farnham- YOU ARE the voice!!
Yes! I’m Aussie and a long time fan of farnsy - my hubby is British and when we visited his family in the uk in2013, I clearly recall we were in the car with one of his older cousins and this song came on the radio- I was floored! Then his cousin was shocked I knew the song haha- her comment- ‘this song was my youth’ but she too had no idea how big he was and still is in Australia 😅
@@melissadinning6614 you Aussies have always been proud of your heroes, and so you should be, especially in the case of John Farnham; always seemed like he’s a bit of an Aussie unsung hero outside of Oz, but I’m delighted he’s so highly thought of down there. It's a shame he didn't made it big coz he is the best male vocalist of all time. Maybe also due to the reason he didn't have that many hits, a shame coz he has the talent for it.
What a performence. This song has never been more relevant than right now. Its forever timeless. John and Celine are one of the best singers of all time. End of story.

to be fair, Celine did a pretty good job, considering most people wont even attempt this song because of how flat it falls when you don't have a voice like John.
ReeceAUS can confirm, it’s one of the more technically difficult songs to sing- it’s extremely hard to belt at that high a range, and it also has low notes too. The song covers a massive range of notes, and expects you to sing them with perfect power, control and consistency. I’m an alto, and while I can certainly hit all of the notes, those high notes are right on the limit of what I can belt with chest voice. It’s really, really difficult. Sopranos like Celine can belt those notes, but you can hear she has trouble maintaining that consistency and power on the lower notes. The fact that he can do it, as a make, and at 70, is just astonishing. And you see how far away he holds his mic? If he didn’t, he’d blow it out, and you’d certainly never hear her voice in the mix at all- he just overpowers everyone else. He’s got the biggest voice I’ve ever heard from a pop or rock singer. The only other singers with that sort of power and consistency are opera singers, and they do it with a wildly different technique. He really does deserve a hell of a lot more credit than he gets. He’s probably the best singer Australia has ever had.
I've seen a few of her duets with other artists, and love how she just knows when to let the other singer do their thing, without trying to sing over them or overshadow them.
@@wordwarrior2350 It's not rehearsal xD I mean it can be, but here it seemed like they were winging it! A couple times neither of them knew who was going to sing xD She is however very good at letting the other singer shine just as well!
As an Aussie living abroad and recent fan of Celine’s, this brings an amazing feeling! I’m smiling from ear to ear. I introduced John to my pen pal in Arizona by sending her a Whispering Jack CD decades ago. “Why haven’t we heard of this guy?” She said back then when the world was much bigger and everything further away.

@@diewiese7545 Not really. His time with the LRB was short and not during their "heyday" and outside Australia he's basically a one-hit wonder solo. He is loved by foreign artists like Dion and Marx, but foreign audiences didn't buy him.
@@diewiese7545 In other words a "one-hit wonder". That is not an international star. For a short time The Knack were international stars. Where are they now? The difference is that Whispering Jack, like Jimmy Barnes, kept selling records in Australia (and New Zealand) to an adoring public. But, they weren't international stars.
Aussie Icon vs World Icon... perfect! Such a huge song from my childhood. Incredible! John can still get those notes. And to pitch that to Ms Dion, just WOW!!! Well played, john, well played!
@@wordwarrior2350 Actually John Farnham is always putting on concerts and donating all proceeds to struggling drought stricken farmers and donating towards Bushfire funds, he's been helping on a large country wide scale for decades. He's raised millions of dollars for worthy Australian causes.
@@wordwarrior2350 Well, you wanted 'actions to speak louder than words', every time this country is struggling with fire, flood or famine, he drags himself out of retirement, puts on a concert and donates the proceeds, lifts peoples spirits and makes people happy, I'd say that's more action and effort than typing on a keyboard, he's entitled to his life, he's worked hard for it.
A classic "voice" and he deserves every accolade he gets. The man is a master and this song will never die. We won,t let it.... Such incredible range for a voice. Why he was not an international star.. I don't know but we are so lucky to have a talent like this man
He was
@@diewiese7545 Not really. His time with the LRB was short and not during their "heyday" and outside Australia he's basically a one-hit wonder solo. He is loved by foreign artists like Dion and Marx, but foreign audiences didn't buy him.
@@aaronleverton4221 Summary: For the short time of this one hit he was an international star.
@@aaronleverton4221 Still an international star as long as it lasted.
Aussie Icon vs World Icon... perfect! Such a huge song from my childhood. Incredible! John can still get those notes. And to pitch that to Ms Dion, just WOW!!! Well played, john, well played!
John is awesome, look how far his Mic is from his mouth, he has the best vocal abilities. 👏👏👏
John Farnham has been one of the greatest vocalists in the world for nearly 50 years. He is a true master of his craft.
@@wordwarrior2350 What's that crap supposed to mean?
Always waiting for his mic stand flip...!!
2018? So John was 69? And still the powerhouse Voice. And still in love with his fans. That's an epic performance - as always. November '23. UK. E❤
Love this video. The whole crowd singing along, Celine so genuinely excited that John was there. Just awesome.
A classic "voice" and he deserves every accolade he gets. The man is a master and this song will never die. We won,t let it.... I have watched it several ( hundreds ) of times now , and when he belts it out....AGAIN... at 3.59, her reaction is brilliant. She's a star but she knows she's in rock ROYALTY. Bless her for allowing herself to be totally upstaged whilst being regalled by a proper songster. She is luvving it... Good gal...
Man it's so great to see Johnny singing his song again....idol of my childhood....go Johnny....his voice haven't changed at all. Great tribute to his song that Celine always includes it n her concerts. Love ya JF!
Wow! This was incredible! I’ve been living outside of Oz for 18 yrs and this got me so emotional! He doesn’t get enough credit for his talent! A true Aussie Icon 😊
As a kiwi I think John was the Voice of my generation, his vocals are superb.
I’ve washed this about 20 times now back to back and it just gets better and better. Amazing.
unbelievable!!!! You lucky Aussies to have such a tremendous gift to the vocal world!!!
We know, we’re very spoilt here😁🇦🇺🦘🐨
Jesus Christ that was insane would have loved to be there in person. FANTASTIC 👌
I just watched a video of Celine in Las Vegas two months later singing The Voice, and she didn’t come close to JF. She’s one of the best singers of our generation. I think John is the only one who can sing it like it’s supposed to be sung. This will always be his song.
Awwww don't put her down to raise him up, John wouldn't like it and she doesn't deserve it. No need for it.
Priceless.
I hope both recover from their health issues.
Started to listen to John Farnham when I was young, & have been a fan since. This is a great video. Two legends on one stage 💜💜💜
Incredible, I love it , amazing and heavenly, definitely. 💓🎄♥️🤶🎁✋️❤️🙏
Thank-you Celine your amazing, as for John, wow what an unbelievable performance from a completely off the planet singer. Did I just see Celine Dion say ' oh my god' and has she ever said that to anyone she's sang with. Wow, wow and wow . Thank-you Celine and John. Wow even I'm gobsmacked, great post by the way.
@poida totally agree, I love this clip.
Oh wow! I just love love love that song and this was an amazing moment to watch. Wish I'd been there live!
The best sounding 71 year old I’ve ever heard
Absolutely 💯💯💯❤️
A sensational performance of such an AMAZING song that carries a timeless message! BRAVO 👏 👏 👏!
Absolutely amazing. One of the best singers in the world
John Farnhams voice is something not of this world.
10000000% the best of the best.!
agree agree agree
2 of the most amazing voices to have ever taken a breath...... Brilliant.
Aqui depois de assistir o documentário I am Celine. Sua humildade e respeito por Jonh Farnham é emocionante. Incrível juntos, lendas.
Was there that night, was awesome!!
This really choked me up, i shed a little tear watching this. How wonderful for someone like Celine to honour Farnsey this way. We all know what a legend he is! I honestly thought he was so underrated it really use to irk me that he was never quite as big as deserved to be. I hope he is always reminded everyday how much AUSTRALIANS LOVES HIM ❤🌟
At about 3:50 this entire thing lifts to another level altogether. You can *feel* it, even in just a video. Can only imagine what it must have been like live. Farnham really is the voice. Great stuff 👍🏻
It makes me happy seing Celine fangilring over John.
Still a fantastic song after so many years....
An all time classic.
Love it.
Me Im here...❤ love that Celine got to sing with her other favorite John.
Don't worry that would of been a huge highlight for John As well.
Celine is truly one amazing woman the hard work and dedication she has put in her whole life has made her what she is today.
