We got our Siamese cat from a rescue shelter. We've had her for 3 months & as yet she will not come to near us & she has not made a sound. She prefers to come up from the basement after we go to bed to eat & use her litter box. She is a beautiful cat & we love her already & we will be patient & give her all the time she needs to get used to us.
My mom’s rescue cat took about 6 months before she was really ready to interact. Now, she’s an affectionate companion. Hang in there, your kitty will come around too 😊
Maybe your cat had been abused and don't trust people give it time it may come around.I have had 3 Siamese over the years and found they are the most loving cuddly pet you could have.
You can try with Bach's flowers. One of my siameses was almost mute for years until I gave him that flowers drops and it was like magic, he started meowing and even purring!! ❤
Hope she is settled in by now. I got my boy from a rescue a year and a half ago. I still can't pick him up. But he likes to be petted on the head, a few times down the back. I know he likes me and loves it here. He's so beautiful. I guess they are just a bit skittish.

Saying that you could pet a Siamese cat without getting covered with hair clearly indicates that they have never actually seen a Siamese in real life. They are some of the most hairy cats ever. The short hair will get everywhere. Wherever you go, no matter how clean you think you are, you will be able to pick some cat hair off your clothes.
I can attest to that. Cat hair literally everywhere. There's times where I think my clothes are free of cat hair, just to leave the house and see a bunch of white hairs all over lol

When I was young my sisters talked my parents into getting a Siamese. He was lonely so they got another. She for some reason decided that I was her human. Velcro for sure and always wanted to talk at 3AM. I'm not the smartest, but this definitely didn't help my schooling. She lived a long time. 24 years. I grew up and moved out but I'd visit as much as possible. I miss that cat

Our Siamese, Nathan Jr., is very bossy. He runs the show. He herds you where he wants you to go. And he fusses if anything is not to his liking. I've heard this is also a characteristic.
I grew up with Siamese cats. Our favorite one was a seal point named Sasha. She was extremely smart. We took her with us when we moved from Delaware to Phoenix AZ. Then someone stole her we looked everywhere, offered a reward. She was awesome. When we played with her she was the only cat to do the crab walk. Miss her terribly to this day😢❤😻🥰
Had had a Siamese cat named Luna we had her for 5 years and then out of nowhere she just disappeared I think someone stole her as well cause she never really left the house. I feel your pain
We have two Siamese cats, they are both lilac “lavender” points, one is part Ragdoll so he is fluffy. I adopted them back in March. They are beautiful, they talk so much and have a ton of energy. They are both really smart, one is so stubborn too. They love attention and getting into everything. My boys are the best thing to happen to me in ages, I am so glad I adopted them even if they make life so chaotic at times.
My gorgeous Lavender Oriental shorthair male, Ming, has been gone for many years now but we still miss him. To me, he was the most beautiful cat I ever owned with apple green eyes and almost "New Style" body. I owned and showed many beautiful Siamese over the years too.
I swear my cat has got some Siamese in him. He's a tuxedo with a tall, muscular body with a long tail, long big ears and talks A LOT and is VERY LOUD. His purrs are loud too. He's very affectionate and will follow you every where and loves meeting new people.. including the vet.

You didn't mention flame-point Siamese cats. They are a relatively newer breed of Siamese cat. They are wonderful cats and just as deserving of being included in the Siamese breed.
Thai cats are actually the original apple headed siamese. They used Thai to differentiate between apple headed and modern siamese. Siamese shed just like any other cat. (I used to show Siamese)
There is another variety of Siamese cat that wasn't mentioned. That is the Flame-point Siamese a.k.a. the Red-point Siamese. Their points are reddish orange with pink noses and toe pads with cream-colored bodies. And, of course, their eyes are blue.

Our last Siamese, "Tiki" lived to be 17-1/2. The breeder said she was a "modified wedge", i.e. not the extreme modern Siamese and not the original more round headed Siamese. Tiki was elegant and of course didn't let you forget it. I miss her. But if we ever get another, it will be the traditional old-world Siamese. So glad they are still being bred .
I adopted 2 black kittens from a rescue. They are about 18 months old now. They are both solid black and are litter mates. They look like Siamese that got dye jobs. Their faces are Siamese and if you close your eyes when they are meowing, they sound like Simese. Either someone's Siamese got out and met a black cat or my 2 didn't get the memo. I love them both!

At one point I had 9 cats. Three were British Shorthaired and 6 Burmese. Two of my Burmese had light beige bodies and dark brown face, ears, tail and paws. Another two were dark Havana Brown and the remaining two, one blue the other had a beautiful stripy pattern of browns. In the UK after the war Siamese were used to help get the Burmese cat breed up and going again.
I live in rural AZ and we have a lot of feral cats we feed. However, there is one Siamese that is not feral that thinks he owns the neighborhood, I love him. He comes over almost every day and I pray he never gets eaten by a coyote because he isn't street smart like the ferals. His testis are stark black and everything else around them are cream colored. He is just a little king.

My Suki was born in blackberry bushes. She was taken into a house with her mom and 5 siblings at the age of 5 or 6 weeks old. As a result she was very skittish of any people. I got her when she was about 7 or 8 weeks old and I took her with me everywhere for the first year. Now she's still wary of new people, but knows all the people at work and at home. She's got sliver eyes and dark silver paws and lower legs, but her face and tail are darker mushroom color. Suki is very vocal when she wants something, or if I'm in another room with the door shut her mewing is so loud and pathetic you'd think she was dying. She always snuggles over my shoulder or tucked in between my arm and body to sleep at night. Just a sweetheart.

I just lost my precious lady cat (brown tortie point Siames), now even 2 month later the house still feels so empty of life. My male Siamese is continuously meowing, calling for her. If you go down the route of Siamese cats, 14-17 years later the loss is felt hard.
I have a snow shoe siamese she is without a doubt mixed with siamese cause the only place she has white is on her feet, if you see her in a picture without her feet showing one would think she is pure siamese. She has the colors and the blue eyes and she isn't that big. She is vocal and has to be everywhere with me too.

A real Siamese cat is no longer called a Siamese anymore due to the extreme breeding for showing causing them to look very alien. The real Siamese is a Thai now. It’s sad how breeders mutated the real Siamese. It’s sick.

I got mine on Craigslist less than half a year ago there’s like a whole community dedicated to raising siamese cats definitely try Craigslist be careful tho
Google for Siamese rescues. The places are widely scattered across the US, but you might get lucky and find one close to you. You could also ask your local rescues if they keep a list of people looking for a particular breed of surrendered cat. Sometimes people moving, elderly, and so on will have to give up their cats, but they want to make sure prospective owners are good choice, so they make an arrangement with a rescue. Lastly, look up Siamese breeders within a reasonable distance (hopefully with good reputations), and see if they have any retired breeding cats for sale. They can still be pricey, but tend not to be in the $1,000 and up range. (I've wistfully checked. Alas, starting at $500... Nope.) And the cats usually aren't ancient, from what I've seen. Good luck. I've had two Siamese, both old-style, and they were fantastic.
Also there are tortie point siamese, my twin sister also has a siamese (named Milkshake, mine is named Egg Nog haha) and ahe has a tortie point who is beautiful! Hers has the cross eyes while mine only does when she gets excited!
Must confess I prefer the older variety of Siamese as I almost grew up with them, they were a neighbourx "babies", and as said prefer them to the sharp angles modern Siamese. Both variewties are beautiful though, as are all cats no matter their parentage!
But what about the blue point siamese with deep blue crossed eyes that i don't seem to see here ? . The one i had died 3 years ago and lived an extremelly fullfiling life as he was never alone in the house because the three of us used work in different shift. He was so demanded and did like to have fresh cook pumkie and sometimes we had to walk for halph and hour to the green groser under the scorching sun just to get his pumkie.

Siamese cats are my weakness I guess 😸. I didn’t particularly like our first Siamese cat Micas, because she was always out and only liked my mother. The second one was named Fifi, died under a car and unfortunately didn’t reach adulthood. I loved her very much. The third one, Fofinho, wasn’t really domesticated and boy did I wish he was. He was beautiful. The fourth one, Kovu Filipe, was half Siamese only as he was a mix of two pure breeds. Absolutely gorgeous but hard to conquer as he was both demanding and reserved. The fifth one was the love of my cat life, Titi José. I will never not miss him. We literally lived for him 😿. The sixth one, Storm, is a Bengal and we rescued him from being caged as part of a breeding program. He is adorable.
How about a cat that looks identical to an old school Siamese that was born from two parents that were not Siamese. Only difference is that his hair is a little longer than is described in this video, I believe they call that Balinese.
@Christopher Kinder The siamese gene is a resessive gene so both parents have to carry it. You can have Pointed cats appear in litters of cats that are not pointed themselves because each parent carries that recessive gene. That does not make the kitten a Siamese but it does make it pointed.
There are TH-cam Siamese cat pro and con videos if you think about it there's no cons the only cons there are what you don't know or what you can't understand or don't fulfill for the cat or don't follow through as a human being other than that it's fun and all Pros
I always thought I had traditional "Apple Head", Siamese cats (now, unfortunately passed). Now I realise they were more between a Thai and New Look. 1/2 brother and sister, Jackson and Bella were at opposite weight ranges. Bella, a seal point, maxed out at 3.5 kg, Jackson at his largest was over 8 kg. . . He was a big boy.

I have a traditional (Thai) Siamese Seal-Point male. The Modern, or extreme Siamese are a cross between a Thai, and an Oriental Shorthair, giving the extreme features.
I just lost my precious lady cat (brown tortie point Siames), now even 2 month later the house still feels so empty of life. My male Siamese is continuously meowing, calling for her. If you go down the route of Siamese cats, 14-17 years later the loss is felt hard.
The traditional cat is for me.

I have a snow shoe siamese she is without a doubt mixed with siamese cause the only place she has white is on her feet, if you see her in a picture without her feet showing one would think she is pure siamese. She has the colors and the blue eyes and she isn't that big. She is vocal and has to be everywhere with me too.
My chatty tabby has a body structure more like a new-style Siamese than a regular tabby.

I had a siamese cat! She had a "kink" in her tail. That feature was not mentioned here. She had the most gorgeous blue eyes. I think she was a seal point. She's missed!!
A real Siamese cat is no longer called a Siamese anymore due to the extreme breeding for showing causing them to look very alien. The real Siamese is a Thai now. It’s sad how breeders mutated the real Siamese. It’s sick.

I got mine on Craigslist less than half a year ago there’s like a whole community dedicated to raising siamese cats definitely try Craigslist be careful tho
Google for Siamese rescues. The places are widely scattered across the US, but you might get lucky and find one close to you. You could also ask your local rescues if they keep a list of people looking for a particular breed of surrendered cat. Sometimes people moving, elderly, and so on will have to give up their cats, but they want to make sure prospective owners are good choice, so they make an arrangement with a rescue. Lastly, look up Siamese breeders within a reasonable distance (hopefully with good reputations), and see if they have any retired breeding cats for sale. They can still be pricey, but tend not to be in the $1,000 and up range. (I've wistfully checked. Alas, starting at $500... Nope.) And the cats usually aren't ancient, from what I've seen.

Go to a rescue or shelter, thats where I adopted my two Siamese brothers
NEVER buy a Siamese from a pet store. Rescues are the way to go, or established Siamese breeders whose reputations can be checked.

Also there are tortie point siamese, my twin sister also has a siamese (named Milkshake, mine is named Egg Nog haha) and ahe has a tortie point who is beautiful! Hers has the cross eyes while mine only does when she gets excited!

We had to change door knobs because they swatted the old knobs and opened EVERY door, round knobs fixed that

Must confess I prefer the older variety of Siamese as I almost grew up with them, they were a neighbourx "babies", and as said prefer them to the sharp angles modern Siamese. Both variewties are beautiful though, as are all cats no matter their parentage!
That being said I'm very lucky to have a Siamese that's on the quiet side

But what about the blue point siamese with deep blue crossed eyes that i don't seem to see here ? . The one i had died 3 years ago and lived an extremelly fullfiling life as he was never alone in the house because the three of us used work in different shift. He was so demanded and did like to have fresh cook pumkie and sometimes we had to walk for halph and hour to the green groser under the scorching sun just to get his pumkie.

Unless they're Siamese-Ragdoll cats, right? Because there are cats who are part Siamese and part Ragdoll, because they have a Siamese mom and a Ragdoll dad or vice-versa. I've seen Siamese Ragdolls, but I can't recall if they had a "van" pattern.

Siamese cats are my weakness I guess 😸. I didn’t particularly like our first Siamese cat Micas, because she was always out and only liked my mother. The second one was named Fifi, died under a car and unfortunately didn’t reach adulthood. I loved her very much. The third one, Fofinho, wasn’t really domesticated and boy did I wish he was. He was beautiful. The fourth one, Kovu Filipe, was half Siamese only as he was a mix of two pure breeds. Absolutely gorgeous but hard to conquer as he was both demanding and reserved. The fifth one was the love of my cat life, Titi José. I will never not miss him. We literally lived for him 😿. The sixth one, Storm, is a Bengal and we rescued him from being caged as part of a breeding program. He is adorable.

How about a cat that looks identical to an old school Siamese that was born from two parents that were not Siamese. Only difference is that his hair is a little longer than is described in this video, I believe they call that Balinese.
@Christopher Kinder The siamese gene is a resessive gene so both parents have to carry it. You can have Pointed cats appear in litters of cats that are not pointed themselves because each parent carries that recessive gene. That does not make the kitten a Siamese but it does make it pointed.

I always thought I had traditional "Apple Head", Siamese cats (now, unfortunately passed). Now I realise they were more between a Thai and New Look.
1/2 brother and sister, Jackson and Bella were at opposite weight ranges. Bella, a seal point, maxed out at 3.5 kg, Jackson at his largest was over 8 kg. . . He was a big boy.
