They never taught this in art school & it was so complicated using complimentary colors! This is a ‘no brainer’ which is exactly what I need! I already see my life changing before my eyes!😘♥️♥️♥️
A very good method for beginner to intermediate artists/designers. 👍 Except - In brief: I wouldn't use 2 different blues. They originate from a different base whether it be mineral or vegetable colouring. The results is two different greens and two different violet/purple secondary colours will be competing with each other. The tertiary colours will invariably become muddy brown colours. Also consider the weight of the colour compared with other swatches. Ref: size of the shape compared to other color shapes on the canvas also effects perception of colour harmony. barriers between bright complimentary colour is worth experimenting with. Using neutrals - Black and white - grey. The strength of the grey and the two colours being used that are opposite each other on the colour wheel. Visual Arts Associate Professor 👋
At last a quick and easy video on this techniques! all other videos explain the whole color theory before "explaining" this but they only say things like "mix colors so they look harmonious" and that's it. Thank you for the video
Thanks for presenting these ways to harmonize color. When I have colors that don't get along, I sometimes use a transparent glaze of one color or mixture over the entire piece.
THANKYOU‼️ I’ve always hated mixing colors cuz I could never get anything good! But you have transformed my life! This system is amazing‼️ I’m making my own book of colors now & excited about what will come out of it! I love you Adele❤️❤️❤️
I also like to mix Raw Umber with all colors. I learned it from my grandpa, a painter and varnisher, to "break" the hues with umber (I hope this makes sense in English) and itś a similar effect as you describe it 😊
I recently sat through a 45 minute video that said the same thing but made it seem complicated and difficult. Thank you for your clarity and making it all so accessible !
Add a brighter colour to your mix. Like burnt sienna. Muted colours have their uses and the demonstration was just showing what a mother colour can achieve.
Adele I watch you all the time and on waiting list for academy BUT this needed to be longer. Was rushed and I found it hard to follow, even though I downloaded the info sheet. Also mixed colours seemed drab and dull
Thank you for this! Will be using this new knowledge. ❤
Thanks dearest Adele,I learned a lot from this special way you just shared 🤗🤗🙏🙏🌹🌹
This technique for understanding Harmony is fantástic and so easy to understand!! Thank you Adèle

Ellen, that’s a good way too, to put a glaze over the entire painting.
Fabulous learnt another great lesson

I really like this easier approach to colour harmony!

Thank you so much!
I do something similar in my watercolors when I add a color to my fresh water. Plus that gray old rinse water has its own uses.
(:
It definitely does.
Beautiful thank you 💚
thanks a lot
Nice
Hi Adele. What is the paper palette you use? Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
Hello. I really enjoyed this video! Is it possible to keep colors bright when using these techniques or does it always mute the color somewhat?
Instead of using umber, you can use a brighter color to mix in each color
PDF link doesn’t work
Sorry. I cannot see the resource link. Can you please provide. Like your teaching. Thank you.
The colors are beautiful together, but a little drab, do you agree? What do you do if you want bright colors that are in harmony?
Totally agree, all seem muted and dull

For TH-cam I do shorter videos. In my Academy I go more in depth and demonstrate a lot more.
You can also watch the video in slow motion. To me the video was too hasty, too.
